How the Lord rescued us, how he went down to death, hell, and the grave and stole the keys for us. We didn't decorate the Virginian just to do this song. Just... Let me pray for us as we get started. The Lord Jesus, we tell you, we love you today. We're here to worship you. And these aren't just words to a song, but they're truths. Let us not just check the box to sing another song today. It's a worship to you. It's declaration to the enemy of the god that we serve, of the god we're worshiping today. We tell you we love you as we worship you in Jesus name. Amen. Could hold his body down. Hallelujah. Because we follow Jesus. All of this is available to us. Because he rose from the dead, that same power that lives in him lives in us. Amen? Sing this. Yeah. If you walked out of the grave, I'll walk into. What grave do need to walk out of today? You walked out of the grave, I'll walk into fear, anxiety. You walked out of the grave, I'll into it. If you walked out of the grave, I'll I'll walk into into Sing that view. If you walked out of the down. No grave today, nothing that you could be stuck in that is stronger than what he did on the cross. Now, he took to the cross and nailed it there. Set us free today. Could hold your body down. We rejoice. But we just tell you how thankful we are today that we can come freely before you. This is how we fight our battles right here in the victory that you have already won. Lord, we praise you and we thank you. And when it feels like we're surrounded, it's a lie from the enemy because we're surrounded by your love when we're surrendered to you. So we shift our focus today right now. We declare that we're surrounded by you. That even though our enemies would come from the right and our enemies would come from the left, 10,000 will fall to our right. A thousand on our left and we praise you. This was a request this morning from my friend, E, and we're just gonna rejoice in this song. It's one of my favorites too. That when we surrender our life to the Lord, we walk in freedom. Because this is how I fight my battles. This is how I fight my battles. This is how yourself? Do you thirst for a drink from the well? Jesus is calling. Just respond to him today. Let's just sing those last two lines. Just think about that. Bring your sorrows today and trade them for joy because from the ashes of new life is born in Jesus today. Amen? What ashes do you have to bring to lay down today so that he can change them into joy today? Sing Just lift your hands before him. He's worthy today just as a symbol of just honor and reverence to him, of worship to him. There's no other that we lift our hands before you, Lord, but you. There's no other that we bow down like the angels before you, Lord. Just sing your song to him today. Just sing out your song to him. He longs to hear your worship today. Just thank him. Just say, Jesus, I love you. I love you. I love you. Yes. Do. Yes. You do. Lord, we just humble ourselves before you and worship today. We take our proper place of adoration and worship before the king of kings. Forgive us this morning for going through the motions, coming with our own agenda. We just lay everything aside. Move in this place today in a mighty way. Thank you for your faithful presence to us. Thank you. Before I say amen, I just feel like I want you to open your eyes for just a second. And today, we set out as many chairs pretty much as we could fit in this room to see how many friends we could make room for, and we can fit more than that. So as we were worshiping, I just, like, I opened my eyes and I thought, who needs to be here that is lost and without Jesus that each one of us bumps against like during the week? And I I just felt like the the Holy Spirit to say, if we could just get them in the presence of the Lord. Right? That's... That... He does the rest. He does the rest. So just look around. Look at these empty chairs of people that you know from work. And this isn't a ploy to, like, build tribe. This is, like, the Holy Spirit's, like, get these lost friends. Just get them into the presence of the Lord. Just get them into the presence of the Lord, whether that's just with the Holy Spirit presence that you carry or if you just, you know, hey, I'll take you to breakfast if you'll meet me at 10AM at the Virginian. I mean, we got tricked into going to church for the first time. Brian's boss at the time said, hey, you can come pick your paycheck up, 10AM, thirty two zero five Big Trails Drive, and we pulled into the parking lot like, we had our ski clothes on and Brian's like, let's go. Come on, let's just... Let's see what this is about. And so we just... We walked in and man, we met the presence of the Lord. I'm not saying trick your friends, but I don't know. Tell them you'll meet them here. I mean, let the Lord let the Lord deal with it. So Lord, we just say thank you, thank you for today, thank you for this space, thank you for who you're gonna bring. That just needs to come through those doors and feel your presence that may have not felt it ever and just what is that? That's how I felt. What is this? I haven't felt this before. I wanna dig into that. So Lord, we just thank you for your presence. Thank you for everyone in this room. Thank you for the celebration that we have today of tribe's birthday and all that you're doing in us and through us as a body. We give you all the praise. We pray blessing over your word as it's shared today in Isaiah. May it penetrate our hearts. And that as we share and as revelation comes to each one of us that we would we would be like a family in a body and that we would all learn and grow from one another today. In Jesus name, amen. Look at those sweet babies. Those sweet babies coming in. Alright. Well, as we come on in, we just want to say, first of all, happy birthday tribe. We are celebrating our seventh birthday today. If you don't normally have cupcakes for breakfast, there's no reason you shouldn't. So we want to start that trend today. Go grab a cupcake, get some coffee, come on in and celebrate. We have our sweet kiddos here too to celebrate. So life is short, life is hard. Celebrate when and where you can. So we have a bunch of things to celebrate in the midst of crazy times because that honors the Lord and it kind of sticks it to the enemy. So that's kind of why we're doing what we're doing. Before we get started with our birthday stuff, again, we have so much to celebrate. Kris and Kaisha had their little baby Shiloh. Oh, look at her. Everyone's doing great. She's precious, precious. And also, yesterday, I'm gonna let Jay take over. Yesterday, we went to Wind River. A team went and served there at their big grand opening. And we'll show you some pictures. And Jay, do you wanna sit down? Or do you just wanna do like an Owen Mills photo? Where you put your hand on my shoulder and we just look. We had a team of eight young adults that went over to Wind River yesterday, which is pretty awesome. Yeah. Gateway had a few people that came over. And represented as well. Oh, sorry about that. Which was super cool. We went and we saw the grand opening of their big rec center, which a lot of us... Not a lot of us. Kelsey and I were there to paint those walls. They had just gotten the drywall up last time we were been there. And, yeah, they had the beautiful area. We had brought in some cabinets from a truck, and they had an awesome worship service. And then Andrew Omak gave a word, and they just honored all the people that were there from the start to finish. Gary had dedicated two and a half years of his life just to see this project from the start to finish, was pretty inspiring. And they did it all debt free, which is like crazy. It was $2,200,000 to build this whole facility. They've got bunk rooms for mission teams. They've got a workout room right behind that stage, that huge foyer in the front. So it was really cool. And then right after your service, they had a big lunch meeting for everybody, and we kinda snuck out, grabbed some Taco Bell on the way to Walmart, and used our whole food pantry budget for Wind River if you've ever been giving to that. There's like a separate tab for instead of Tides, you can select the food bank at Wind River, which is super cool. So we were able to do that and stock their whole shelves. They just moved to a new location. So the stocking procedure looked a little bit different. And for those of you that know the Vetter family, Elisha was there, and he was kind of like our contact and kinda snuck out from the ceremony to get us some keys and, let us into the food pantry so that we were able to fill it up. And then we were right back over the pass. Little snowy, but drive bus handled great. Tons of of closed donations. Yeah. I don't know if we have any good pictures, but we have, like, this huge pile that's, like, well well above my height of just clothes for people to stay warm out there. That's awesome. Thank you to everybody who donated clothes and money and time. Our time, our talent, and our treasure all going to Kingdom stuff. And that's awesome. That's who we are. All right. I just want to kind of intro before Brian comes up. I just want to kind of read a little bit of on Tribe's birthday. We're going to celebrate kind of who we are, where we've come from, and all of that. So the last seven years have been quite an adventure. How many of you, with a show of hand, have been here from day one, just to see? Nice. There's been ups, there's been downs, there's been sideways. Oh, how about from day two and on? That's so funny you're in a very special category. Get an extra cupcake. So kind of if you're new to Tribe, also we have not been meeting in a haunted house for seven years like we are today. We started meeting at Shepherd of the Mountains. We then moved to Snow King. COVID happened. This is just some bullet points. We were meeting in homes. We did this summer program where we had all kinds of tribe campuses, we were meeting in homes and doing a discipleship program. We met outside at the lawn. Not once, but more than once, sprinklers went off during service, and everyone just kind of grabbed their Bibles and covered their head and, for the kingdom! When we bought the TMC, we were the first church I don't know if you know this in twenty five years to buy a property, which is pretty fantastic. Other churches, even in our seven years, have come and gone in these last seven years, but here we are staying strong. The name of tribe actually there's a whole story that we won't tell today that Brian and Lissa have of how the name tribe came about and how it was confirmed that that's what it should be. Because when you plant a church and you're like, what should we be called? It's a big question, you know? And it needs to have meaning and purpose and not just cute. And so there's a whole story that Brian or Lisa can tell you, but the name tribe comes from the conviction that this walk of faith we all have is designed and optimally experienced in the context of community. That we would be a group of people that rally around not a common bloodline, like in traditional sense of the word tribe, but around some common goals and values. And that's who we are. These goals and values unite us like a family, like a tribe, and we do life together here in Jackson. You do better as an individual. You know this. There's science to back it up as well. But we do better as individuals when we're part of something bigger than ourselves, a group or a tribe. It's doing something more than we can do all by ourselves. The truth is that we all want to find our tribe. That's the logo on the side of our bus, if you haven't seen it. Find your tribe. And we all want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. And God stands, praise the Lord, with open arms to invite all of us, his creation, into his tribe and his family, and to find, oh man, home for our restless hearts that have been searching for Him. Amen? So that's a little bit of a why behind our name. So since we've been a church, we have strived to keep our eyes outwardly focused on stuff in the community. Some of you have been a part of this, and again, this is just a quick snapshot. We've done so much more. You guys have done so much more. But here locally, we've raised money to pay overdue utility bills. Do you guys remember that? We called Lower Valley and just said, What does it cost? They said it. And then one time we were saying that here in service, and a girl on the front row with tears in her eyes, she's like, I was a recipient of that. She had no idea that it was tried. Paid everybody's bills, kept them warm. Praise the Lord. That's because of your faithfulness and giving of your tithe and your offering. That's why we do that. We also, as Tribe, we gave grocery gift cards to the federal park employees during the government shutdown several years ago. Do you guys remember that? The government shutdown? Is Feed the what we called it. It was awesome. They were beyond thankful. We've also held dinners for our local law enforcement here in Teton County. We have cooked meals for search and rescue. We've also poured hundreds you guys saw the pictures of man hours and dollars into thousands of dollars into working the work that's being done there at Wind River. A lot of tribes' time, talent, and treasure has gone there. That's a place that we feel the Lord has asked us to connect with what He's already doing, and we're just there with our hands and our feet and our money to give to them for the kingdom. On behalf of... Pastor Brian's coming up anyway, but on behalf of Brian and all of us here at Tribe, thank you, thank you, thank you for saying yes to what the Lord is doing. You always hear us say senior pastor Jesus. We mean that. We're always here with open hands and open hearts to the Lord. Like, what would you have us do? And we just thank him for what he has done, what he's doing right now, and what he is yet to do. So let's just pray in a thankful way. So however you want to posture your hands or your heart, I'm just going to do open to the Lord. Father, we thank you that you are faithful. We thank you for tribe, not because our goal is to just be a church and be an organization and do good things. Our goal is to be obedient to you, and this is what it looks like right now. This is what you've called us to. Thank you for every single person here who has given their time, their talent, their treasure, or just visiting. Either way, Father, they're a part of tribe. Like we say when you're here, you're family. And Lord, thank you that we are part of your family. My goodness, what an honor and a privilege. Jesus, because of what you did on the cross, we can come to the Father with open hands and open hearts and be obedient and just say, what would you have us do? We know it is your heart, Father, to bring people into your family, and that's why we're here. So thank you for who you are, Lord. Thank you for your faithfulness, for what you've done, what you're doing, and what you have yet to do. We just say thank you in advance for the fruit that is to come, kingdom fruit, because of what you're doing here in us and through us. In Jesus' name, amen. We're going to show a quick video, but I just was talking about the outward stuff that we've done here in our community. You hear us talking about beyond, like going beyond our community. And we have plans again, it's up to the Lord to do more international stuff. It's dicey at the moment. But we have sent already troops I guess that's what we're called tribe troops to Mongolia and did a whole mission there and to The Bahamas. And so we are reaching beyond our community, and we hope to do so much more. We're just open to whatever the Lord would have, and it usually looks different. So if you're on this tribe train, probably not going to be standard, and that's a good thing. So we're going to show you just a quick video as Brian comes up, but this is not everything we've done the whole year. It's a quick snapshot of who we are to celebrate our seventh birthday. Oh, little Christian in college in his little dorm. Thank you, Christian, you did a great job. We love you. Here we go take a look let's celebrate. For the kingdom. Yay. Happy birthday, tribe. If you have your Bible with you this morning, would you open to the book of Isaiah, Isaiah chapter 62? And as we get into today's text, so that we can separate what we normally do from what we specially do, why don't we put this morning's opportunity for you to financially give to tribe at the beginning of the message so we'll receive tithes now because at the end of service, we're going to give you another opportunity to give to receive a special offering. And I've been a part of churches where where it gets kind of run together or people use it as an interchangeable phrase. Tithes and offering. Tithes and offering. And if you think of giving tithes like paying rent for being on planet Earth, the oxygen that you breathe, the gravity that you take advantage of, the molecules in your body that hold everything together, the job that you have, the family that you have. When we give financially in that way, we're paying a tithe. And we're telling the Lord, thank you, and we trust you. So that's the tithe. And tithe means 10%. It's an Old Testament term. So in the New Testament, tithe is not 10%. Tithe is actually a 100%. Because Jesus gave a 100% of himself for us, we, out of thankfulness and gratitude, give a 100% of ourselves back to him, including the direction of our life, who we date, single people, music that we listen to, things like that, and and including our finances. So we say, Lord, you have all of our finances. As a tithe, how much would you like me to give? And then we give based upon what he says. So that's the tithe. But different. An offering is above and beyond in addition to the tithe. So the tithe comes in first, and then above and beyond that we give. And so we're gonna... You've probably seen the text the text blast that went out earlier this week. So at the end of service, we're going to receive a special offering. But why don't I now take a moment to pray over the tithes as we receive them, and then we'll read Isaiah 62 and talk about a couple of things together. With that in mind, if you would... I love how Jay specifically asks for a moment of reverence by saying, you bow your heads and pray with me? I like how you say that, Jay. Lord Jesus, thank you. We love you and we trust you. And we, with our mouth, with our lives, and with a portion of our finances, we tell you that you are good. We bring our tithe to you this morning, telling you that we love you and we trust you. God, I ask that you would receive these tithes and you would use them to continue to make your name famous here at Tribe, in Jackson Hole, the surrounding region, and all the way to the uttermost bounds of the earth. We pray these things in Jesus' name. And everybody said, amen. And you know how to give, text to give, how is the way that a lot of people give. There's also a little box right there in the corner for you to jam all of your tip money that you made this weekend in. And a lot of people also give through the website so you can you can give those ways. And then I almost said this afternoon. This morning later, we'll we'll shift gears and we'll talk about the special offering. Sound good? Sounds good. With that in mind, if you haven't been with us for a while, we've recently started a series of conversations about Isaiah 62. And I say conversations because that's really what I want it to be. I want it not to be so much a monologue from up here, but I want it to be a dialogue where you and I get to engage, and we all get to engage in the content and in the direction of the message together this morning as a family. And so with that in mind, if you have a question, a comment, or a connection, Kat has the mic and we'd love to hear you. So you just raise your hand, and then, like, give us a sample of what that might look like. To raise your hand. I'm not gonna have it... Okay. See, it's easy. It's easy. I learned my lesson last week calling on the wrong person. So raising your hand just like that and then the mic would come around to you and you could share your question connection. Did you have a question connection? So... And the reason why we have the the mic is some for us in this room, but primarily for all of our families that watch the livestream that are scattered hither and thither around this great ball of dirt we call earth. So that's why the mic will come to you. With that in mind, why don't we take a little bit of time We're going to read all of Isaiah 62 together, and then we're going to begin our conversation in one particular spot. Whoever would like to start reading? Isaiah's prayer for Jerusalem. Because I love Zion, I will not keep still. Because my heart yearns for Jerusalem, I cannot remain silent. I will not stop praying for her until her righteousness shines like the dawn and her salvation blazes like a burning torch. The nations will see your righteousness. World leaders will be blinded by your glory, and you will be given a new name by the Lord's own mouth. The Lord will hold you in his hand for all to see, a splendid crown in the hand of God. Never again will you be called the Forsaken City or the Desolate Land. Your new name will be the city of God's delight and the bride of God for the Lord delights in you and will claim you as his bride. Your children will commit themselves to you, O Jerusalem. Just as a young man commits himself to his bride, then God will rejoice over you as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride. Oh, Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls. They will pray day and night continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord. Give the Lord no rest until he completes his work, until he makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth. The Lord has sworn to Jerusalem by his own strength. I will never again hand you over to your enemies. Never again will foreign warriors come and take away your grain and new wine. Quick pause. It's worth worth worth asking the question because you may be thinking it. Never again will foreign warriors come and take away your grain and new wine. Have we seen the perfect fulfillment of that verse yet? No. No. And so when that question comes up in your heart or when you hear that question asked or when you're talking about it with with friends and if you come across this verse I think that could be... I want to equip you with a little bit of language to help you. You can say that we've got to reconcile the reality of what we're seeing in the news today and what God's Word says. One that I can offer you and you can offer people that you engage with on this topic is we have not seen the perfect fulfillment of that yet. Yet. That's an honest answer, but in my mind it is also dripping with hope. The perfect fulfillment... What's the word? Yet. Yet. Yet. Okay, keep going. But those who harvest it will eat it and praise the Lord. And those who gather the grapes will drink it in the courts of my sanctuary. Pass through pass through the gates. Prepare the way for the people. Build up build up the highway. Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations. The Lord has made proclamation to the ends of the earth. Day says to daughter Zion, see your savior comes. See his rewards with... Is with him, and his recommends Mhmm. Accompanies him. They will be called the holy people, the redeemed of the Lord, and you will be called sought after the city no longer deserted. Great job. This morning, our conversation... I I... Earlier, I told you that we're not gonna go linearly verse by verse. It just so happens that the next place we're gonna look happens to be in verse one. So so for you, people who like things like like well planned out and step by step, yes, we are gonna open up several drawer drawers. We'll jump from drawer to drawer to drawer. We're going to look at Isaiah 62 thematically and less chronologically or linearly. It just so happens that today we are starting in verse one. So for all of those who all of those of you who like to go sequentially, Ah, it's helpful for your brain. But I want us to look at just verse one. Because I love Zion, I will not keep still. Because my heart yearns for Jerusalem, I cannot remain silent. I will not stop praying for her until her righteousness shines like the dawn and her salvation blazes like a burning torch. That's as far as we're going to go today. So let me ask you this first question. When it says I will, who is speaking? It's really one of two people or probably the the the most obvious. Who do you think is speaking? Who are the choices? Isaiah. Isaiah is one of the options. Isaiah could be speaking. And who is the other? God. It could be God. So let me ask you, who do you think is speaking in verse one? God. And why do you say that? This is not a trick. I'm not trying to trick you. Oh, we have a contextual clue. Say it again. Say it one more time, Isaiah. The title says Isaiah's Prayer for Jerusalem. So I would say Isaiah is speaking. Okay. Okay. So you are correct. Technically, Isaiah is speaking. And these are the words of Isaiah because I love Zion. So Isaiah is speaking. I love Zion. Now how should we, as we read that, knowing this is not necessarily the voice of the Lord but this is Isaiah speaking what weight should we give to the words that are being said? Does my question make sense? Like, well, mean, it's Isaiah talking. I mean, he's talking all through this, but but sometimes he's quoting the Lord. If the lord is speaking, how serious should we take that? Very. There you go. Okay. Very. But we can tell from the grammatical context that Isaiah is speaking. Well, so here's the question. What weight should we place on Isaiah's words right here as he's speaking? His whole life. He's inspired by God. Okay. Okay. Alright. Let let me hear from you. Oh. He's inspired by God. His words are inspired by God. His words are inspired by the Lord, right? Okay, and it's in the Bible. So, okay, great. So, the weight adds up. I can only speak for myself, but I've heard from God. I know that he's speaking through me because it's totally what... Opposite of what I would say or feel or do. And I... And Isaiah certainly walked with him completely. So it holds a lot of weight. There you go. It holds a lot of weight. So is it not possible... And this is... I I'm sure you're like, ugh, Brian. Like, thank you for, like, not holding my hand, but dragging me through this very obvious point. But I feel like it's worth making. That we need to... We want to be accurate that, yes, Isaiah is speaking when he says verse verse one, and and he's... It's his voice throughout a lot of Isaiah 62. It is his voice, and he's speaking in the first person. But these words are coming from a heart that has encountered the Lord, and and God's heart for Israel has been imparted to Isaiah. And out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth what? The mouth speaks. And so when Isaiah says, because I love Zion, we want to make sure in our brains that there's no room to think that Isaiah says that, but that might not necessarily be the words or the sentiment of the Lord. Isaiah's words and the heart and the sentiment of the Lord are in unity with one another. Therefore, we can say it is as if who is speaking. God. The Lord. Okay. Is that is that is that helpful or was that too rudimentary? But thank you, Lissy. Now here's the next thing I want us to look at just in verse one. There are three action things that Isaiah is saying or doing. And that's what we're going to focus our conversation on today. So tell me, what is it? What would be one of the things that you see in the text? Out of Isaiah's love for Israel, three things emerge. What would be one of them? Okay. Where's your where's your bible, girl? Where's your phone? Did you... Go sit next to a Christian that brought their bible so you can look. Yeah. Look. Your mom's right here. She'll share with you. Okay. Mhmm. That's where Andy used to Yeah. Three syllables. Okay. What do you what do you see? He won't keep silent. Okay. The first thing is because I love Zion, I won't keep silent. What would be another thing that you see? We're gonna talk about each one of these. He won't be still. Because I... I think that's the first one. Because my heart for... Yearns for Jerusalem, I cannot keep... Or I will not keep still. Yep. Okay? I won't be silent. I won't keep still. What do you see? What do you see? He will not stop praying for Yeah. He will not stop praying for her. Okay. Because of these... Because of the encounter that Isaiah has had, when it comes to the nation of Israel, these three things, these three important concepts have emerged. And I want to tell you that in the same way that Isaiah, when he encountered the Lord and he said, oh, remember when the calling of Isaiah, we read this, last week? What was that? Isaiah six? Let's let's look. Isaiah's cleansing and calling. And so in chapter six, he says, then in verse four... Chapter six verse four, their voices shook the temple and its foundation and the entire building was filled with smoke. Then I, Isaiah said... He said... What did he say? Woe is me. Or in the NLT it says, it's all over. I'm doomed for I'm a sinful man. I have filthy lips and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the king, the Lord of heaven's armies. This is an encounter that Isaiah has had. And hopefully you really pick up on that as part of the vibe of tribe. We don't want to ever just fill your head with information. We believe so strongly in transformation that comes from encounter. And I know that, Andy, I was giving you a hard time right here, but my dad's heart behind that is for all of you that you would engage with the verses. And that's what greases the skids for encounter, whether it happens right now in this moment or later. But how would we ever have an encounter with the Lord if we're not setting the stage or set the table in order for him to come and sit down and meet with us. And this is such a great way to have an encounter with the Lord is when we meet with him. Now Isaiah was not reading the Bible when he had this encounter. But the Bible says that he was... Let's see. I saw the Lord. He had a vision. He had a vision. And in that vision, he saw the temple, the smoke being filled with the temple, the train of the Lord's robe, which is a picture of his majesty and glory, filled the entire temple. Angels were saying holy so powerfully that it shook the foundations of the temple, and out of Isaiah's mouth comes says, oh, I'm doomed. I'm done for. It's all over. And then one of the Seraphim flew to me with a burning coal that he had taken from the altar and a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed and your sins are forgiven. Why didn't the Seraphim touch his heart with the coal? This is a good question. Why would he touch his heart? I mean, why wouldn't he touch his heart? What are your thoughts? Because out of the mouth our heart speaks. Out of the mouth the heart speaks and because of the assignment that God had for Isaiah. You'll be my... You're gonna be my mouthpiece. Who will go for me as a messenger to this place? Who will go for us? Then Isaiah says, here I am. Send me. And then verse nine, yes, go and say to the people. So when we encounter the Lord whether it's in a vision or reading our Bible or driving to work in the morning or when we're soon to be on the skin track When we encounter him, one of the things that happens in regard to encountering the Lord with Israel is having the Lord's heart for Israel stamped, burned, impressed, embossed on our heart. And when we meet with him, he says, you want to know what my thoughts are on Israel? I'm not talking about NPR, CBN, CMS, NBC, CNN, Fox, Breitbart. None of... He's like, I don't I don't care about any of their narratives on what's going on in Israel. If you want... If you're gonna come to me, I'll tell you already what my heart for Israel will be because we saw it in Isaiah. When we encounter the Lord and we encounter his heart for Israel, this is what bubbles up. These three things. Let's look at the very first one. I... Because I love Zion, I will not keep still. What do you think that means or looks like? I will not keep still. What could that look like? If we were to translate that into our context, what do you... What comes to mind? Can I have your water list? He's not in the closet. Isaiah is not like like like hiding. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, alright. I I think it's like faith without works is dead. So you can say like, I love Israel and blah blah blah blah, but if you're not like actively showing that, then yeah. I think not that the words are in vain, but I don't know how else to, like, word that. I I like I like that verse. You could write that in the margin of your Bible, that address in the book of James. Faith without works is dead. That's a really great connection. That's what I'm talking about when I want to hear from you. That's not in my notes, but what a beautiful connection to write next to that. I will not keep still and then that address in James which is well, we'll get it here in a second. I will not keep still. Faith without works is dead. I think about your conviction moving you to action. Like, I won't be... Just it's... Remain still whether that's like in prayer or whatever, you know. It's like, if you say to me, Baby, I wanna show you how much I love you. Like, what do you want me to do? And I go, Awesome. Take the trash out, and you're like, meh. But, baby, I love you. But, I love you. Well, well, then show me by doing something, you know? That's just it off the top of my head. Random. Okay. I'm gonna take a little bit different perspective. If we are looking at this like the Lord is speaking through Isaiah, the Lord is saying, I'm not going to keep still. Woah. So I I know, you know, with different theories. Right? The Lord just kinda threw a bowling ball when he created the universe and then just sat back. And he's he's sovereign, so he just let stuff happen. And that's not what this is saying at all. He is going to fight for us. He's going to fight for Israel. He's going to do something. He's not an apathetic god just waiting for us to do something so that... So I feel like he's a god of action and is not just kicking back and watching things happen. Oh, man. That is... Oh, that's so good. I gotta I gotta go to another verse. Help me find it. It's in Psalms. So how do how do we... Okay. Here's what religion and here's what church would do. And I have to fight and resist this all the time because because I'm I'm a person and I'm not perfect. I make mistakes And and as a person, we tend to fall into ruts. And, ruts that we fall into would be religion. And so religion would say, wow. Amen. Praise God. That's so true. God will not keep still. But there's the reality that we see going on. We're now up to what? 229 individuals from various nations that have been carted off away from Israel as hostages. God, if you're not being still, then why are there hostages? God, if you're not being still, why are rockets raining? I just heard... Traded some text with Susan this morning who lives in the Golan Heights and says that increasingly Hezbollah in the North is becoming more and more involved. And and this war is now opening up on two fronts, which is a huge, huge deal. So how do we reconcile? Church y thing would be like, Amen. Praise the Lord, brother. Yay, God, you're so great. And then there's cognitive dissonance. There's a disconnect between the reality. Because if we stay in just that that first realm, then our faith has no real life application once you walk through those saloon doors. And you are more likely to live a partitioned life. So so we need to wrestle with and grapple with and and cry over this... The truth of that in the truth of the reality that we're seeing. And I'm not gonna offer you a trite religious reconciliation. Can I can I make a comment to that? Yeah. I gotta look up this verse. Okay. Great. I think in the same way that God is using Isaiah to share his word, he uses us to do the works. Right? So in the same way God's using Isaiah Isaiah right here, he's calling upon us to... For him to work through us. Holy cow. We can we can clap for that. That's good. Would you say that again? So religion would be like We all sit back and let God handle it. Yeah. Like, because I love Zion, I will not keep still. Yeah. The Lord is saying that I won't keep still. Woo hoo. That's that's great. God, go get them. And God's like, I'm I'm waiting for you to come to me so I can touch your lips with a burning coal, and I'm just waiting for you to say, here I am, Lord. Send me in whatever way that looks like. Yeah, I was just like we're called to be the hands and feet of Christ and I just thought about what just happened in Wind River and like how that place was built debt free and they said built by the church. And so like that just speaks a testament to like that was God's will and like God made it happen through the willing hearts and the willing vessels. That's really good. Wind River really quickly. Do you know why part of the method to my madness of why we have in... Our church has invested so much in Wind River? Why? Because I'm standing and banking on a biblical principle that that if you're faithful in the little, you can be trusted with much. And those who want to be the first in the kingdom need to be the last. And I'm counting on that as we bless and build and put our hands to work the ministry and the property and the physical facility of somebody else's church, according to God's economy, what's going to happen for us? We won't have to have church, a birthday in a saloon with cobwebs decorated for Halloween. Literally... I don't... Unless... Yeah. I don't know. Maybe he wants to keep us here. What were you gonna say and then we're gonna continue on? So building on what Kat said, when I when I read this, I just pretend like it's me. I, Lee, Martin will not stop praying. Period. The other thing is, some place in the scriptures, I think Solomon said there's a time of peace and a time of war. This is a time of war. The other thing I believe is I have a warfare worldview and the war is not over until it's over. And that's why this the the the last part of this verse one says that he... And he's gonna keep praying until the salvation, and I forget what the other thing, and righteousness of Israel, Jerusalem is evident like a burning bush and I'm thinking, okay, burning bush that... I said, what's the deal with that? And, a burning bush to me is something that's like, woah, that's got my attention. It's gonna shine like a burning bush. So, this whole thing to me means I'm gonna... Lee Martin's gonna keep praying. That's just the way it is. Whether I feel like it or not, this is a war. It's not over until I see the burning bush shining bright. Oh, that's so good. I have one thing. Sorry. I'm not letting you move on. So what happens when you get a conversation? When I hear still, I think stagnant. And so, I think the opposite of that is to change. And so, like, my frame of reference in my mindset is if we are not letting what is happening in Israel change us, like on the inside, and let that change move us forward on the outside, then we are wasting our time and our life. How, when or how many times has Israel been in peace since its beginning? I'm reading Jeremiah. Oh my gosh. You talk about warfare. They held their sword and the mortar in... One in each hand. Mhmm. We're doing that now. Mhmm. I will not keep still. I will not remain neutral on this. And on a a recent Tuesday, we had a great conversation when I asked young adults who... A lot of young adults come on Tuesday, and can't believe how many young adults that come on Sunday and Tuesday as double dippers. Like, that's pretty amazing. But one of the the question that was asked was... And and let me ask all of you, whether you're students in school or working or on your teams or among your friend group, how many of you would say that the topic of what's going on in Israel has come up at work? How many of you... It's come up. Maybe not necessarily out of your mouth, but it's come up. Okay. For how many of you... Let's do the opposite. How many of you have like... It's not come up at all like at work or among your friends? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey. Keep work. Work, man. Right. Right. So how interesting is it? Probably the most significant news not happening in The United States, but that will send ripple effects around the globe, and it's not being talked about. For Zion's sake, I will not remain still. I will not remain stagnant. I will not remain neutral. You must wade into the conversation. We'll talk more about this as we get to points two and three. But in order to not remain neutral, you need to become educated. But you have to be careful on which narrative you follow. And I will tell you, the only the only narrative that matters, not what you were raised with, not what you see being chanted on the streets, but is God's biblical narrative for this situation. And I'll tell you, you cannot... I'll tell you right now, you cannot claim to be a Christian and have a narrative that is contrary to God's narrative on Israel in this situation. That that's a... It's a big issue. Now you might you might need some correction, but in that regard, don't remain still. Don't remain stagnant. Allow the Lord to impart his narrative into your life and into your heart for Israel. Ready? And this is why the Bible tells us to seek wise counsel when we need clarity on something. And I would just challenge the young people in this room just from what you're seeing on TV, the protest, the Palestinian... Most of the young people in these colleges protesting don't understand what they're protesting. They're just being fed garbage. So therefore... Emotional Right. Rhetoric that lacks substance or truth or authenticity. And the Bible tells us to seek wise counsel. And you can you can... There's wise counsel all around you. You just gotta ask. Yeah. So rather than go down a path you're not sure of. And and not to... I'll go ahead and say it. Don't remain intellectually lazy. Mom said it. From the river to the sea sounds catchy. But what many people around the world who are adopting that phrase do not realize is that from the river to the sea, for that to be actualized, requires the holocaust of millions of Jews that are living in their sovereign country at this time. I cannot keep still. I cannot remain silent. If you open your mouth, you should be educated on a biblical narrative. Well, how do I get edumacated? Well, isn't it interesting that senior pastor Jesus just so happened to lead our tribe family several months ago by putting it on our heart to, in the fall of twenty twenty three, to go on a twenty one day journey of making room in our hearts for Israel by either fasting and or denying ourselves so that we could make room for him to speak into our lives and our heart for Israel. We had no idea this was going to unfold. And in fact, at the end of that twenty one days for Israel, we did a week long one of God's family tradition called the Feast of Sukkot, where we went outside, we camped for a week, and we thought about and we meditated the future day when God will dwell on earth through Jesus setting up his global reign for a thousand years with his headquarters in Jerusalem. And we took a week to talk about how great that is going to be looking forward to that day. And on the Saturday that that feast or family tradition ended is the day that Hamas invaded Israel with the terror attacks. So the second part, I cannot remain silent. I would encourage you, do not remain silent. But I don't know how effective a... What's the word? Kitchy? Is that a word? Kitchy? Clever? Witty, little Facebook post. Or if you change your profile picture to flag of Israel. That doesn't quite count as I will not remain silent. Okay? All right. Thank you. It can be a start. That is great. I will not remain silent. So I would encourage you to get engaged. And you can become engaged by just asking a question. You don't have to launch into like, you know pulling both of your six shooters out. You can ask a friend at work and be like, man, this stuff is going on in Israel. It's crazy. What are your thoughts on that? That's a great way to start. And let them say whatever it is that they want to say. They may ask you, hear all my words, and then say, well I don't know what are your thoughts. They've literally invited you to share. Hopefully, you have a biblical narrative and perspective on the situation. And I'll tell you what, we get to smash down more churchy sacred cows when you say, man, this thing is complex. I'm still trying to come up to speed on this and confess honesty about the situation in your current education level. I'm trying to read... Do you remember in the twenty one days for Israel, we loaded you up with resources. And if you're like, would you send those again? Yes. We will send them again. Documentary films, articles, book recommendations. A prayer guide that we sent out. It's in your text feed. You can go back and read those. I will not keep still. I cannot remain silent. And then finally, I will not stop praying for her. We've talked about this a bunch. All of these kind of interweave and interplay with one another. I will not stop praying for her. What does... When we pray for Israel... This this is not in your notes, but let me give you three rapid fire things. When you pray for Israel, when you pray for her, pray for her peace, pray for her Messiah, and pray for her salvation. All these... Okay. Just write these down. Psalms one twenty two verse six. Let me read this. We see this command, pray for the peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper. We have a direct command in scripture to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Include that regularly in your prayers as you pray for your kids who are off at college, as you pray for your pastor who, boy, he needs it. Pray also for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray for her Messiah. Look at Zephaniah three seventeen. It is... Man, it's so good. Let's see if I have that one. Oh, Zephaniah three seventeen. For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness, and with his love he will calm all of your fears, and he will rejoice over you with joyful song. This is a prophetic scripture, Zephaniah three seventeen. I've used it at countless youth camps, and it preaches great there. It preaches great. But this is a prophetic verse about the return of Jesus, the Messiah of Israel. And when he returns, Israel will be in such a state of calamity and distress that his arrival will have a calming presence to him. He will take delight in you with his gladness, with his love. Picture like the the lightning and the thunder that that flashes and the little kid hops out of their bed and runs into mom and dad's room and gets on dad's side of the bed. I was just reading the diary of Anne Frank. How many of you have read that before? Man. So I don't know if I had to read it in high school, but I was reading it recently as if I was reading it for the very first time. And the number of times that little Anne hops out of her bed when the air raid sirens go off in Amsterdam or the anti aircraft guns were going off or the the bombing raids, she would slip out of her little bed where she was and go and crawl onto her dad's side of the bed. She had a really special relationship with her dad and her dad. Even though Anne Frank was what 13 and then turned 14 while she was in her little hiding place. She would crawl and get in her dad's bed. And that's the picture that I see of the return of Jesus. Israel who's been shell shocked, frightened, scared, disillusioned, in calamity, has experienced great loss. At his return, he will take delight in her with gladness. And with his love, he will calm all of her fears, and he will rejoice over her as a song. What will that look like for Jesus the Messiah to embrace Israel and calm all of her fears and rejoice over her with song? There there there there there. Shell shocked little Israel. Come here, come here. How does one man wrap an entire nation in his arms? Oh, I want a front row seat for that. Pray for her salvation. I've only got just... This is the last verse, I promise. Zechariah verse... Zechariah 12 verse ten and eleven. This is not up there, but you can write this down. It's so good. Take a second and turn there. Zechariah is a fairly easy book to find. If you get to the Gospel of Matthew, go back and hang a left. Zechariah verse 12. This is a really important... It's it's about the eschaton or the end times, inaugurates the millennial kingdom when Jesus returns. And when Jesus returns, interestingly enough, he calms their fears. He bandages up their wounds. He heals their broken hearts. He doesn't stand back and say, it's me. Jesus, turn, and then I'll help you. What he does is rush to Israel's aid, helps her, bandages her up, calms her fears. And in that, you will see the softening of the national heart of Israel, and here will be their response. Zechariah 12 verse 10. Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem. They will look on me whom they have pierced and will mourn for him as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for him as for a first born son who has died. The sorrow and mourning in Jerusalem on that day will be like the great mourning for Haddad Rimon in the Valley Of Megiddo. All Israel will mourn, each clan by itself, and with the husbands separate from their wives. The clan of David will mourn alone as will the clan of Nathan, the clan of Levi, and the clan of Shimei. Each of the surviving clans from Judah will mourn separately and with the husbands separate from their wives. So picture this emotionally. It is the it is the righteous chastisement of God that will be and that we are seeing potentially in current events right now being allowed to be poured out on Israel. Chastisement and discipline for the sake of turning. And in the midst of what will be known as Jacob's trouble, this is not Jacob's trouble, This is not the beginning of the tribulation, although the birth pains are certainly ratcheting up. Maybe this is the water breaking. This is in language from Matthew chapter 24. But when the time of Jacob's trouble comes, it will erupt suddenly on the earth. Israel will be the focus of the the the ire and bitterness and rancor of a single solitary figure called the Antichrist. And we saw what happened just in one nation alone or or excuse me in Europe. Imagine what happens when it's concentrated on the nation of Israel, and Jesus said you'll be hated all around the world, and anti Semitic violence breaks out in an... On an unprecedented scale around the world. We haven't even begun to see that. And in the midst of that, Jesus will return triumphantly riding on the clouds to put to death the enemies of God's chosen people who have been trying to to attack the covenant. He calms Israel's feel... Fears. He rejoices over her. He binds up her wounds. And then while he's doing that, Israel's like, I'm sure there's a great movie that might come to your mind to remind you. If it does, share it with me. A great movie who the person who's undeserved is a recipient of the kindness, and it's the story of the good Samaritan who Jesus binds up their wounds even though they don't deserve it. And then Israel begins to connect their dots in their heart. Oh my gosh. It's you. The God who came down on Mount Sinai is the same God who came riding on the clouds. The God who who walked as a man and who claimed to be our Messiah, but we rejected and instead said, we have no king but king Caesar. You even... It was even announced in writing in three different languages as as a sign posted above the place where you were crucified, and we missed it. And you're coming back. We've mocked you. We have rejected you in the midst of this great calamity. We wanna be angry towards this Christian Jesus, but it was you and you were our Messiah. Oh. And with the healing balm that Jesus applies, so then begin to release the flow of tears, of repentance. And then Jesus, I don't know how he gonna do it, but I want a front row seat, with his thumb wipes away the tears on the cheek of Israel and says, I'm here. And then he says, Come on. Let's go home. And in Isaiah we see... Isaiah we see 62, and we're gonna talk about this more. Make level the road and go out and cry, here comes your Messiah. Because when Jesus returns with a band of maybe thousands or tens of thousands of refugees who have fled the city of Jerusalem and Israel, and they could be in some type of refugee camps out in the Desert Of Edom, is like around Jordan in the Petra area. He will personally lead captives, people that had been captives, back to Jerusalem in triumph. And he will lead... This sounds so crazy and so practical, but he'll lead as the commander of the IDF. He will lead the IDF army in repelling foreign invaders, and then Jesus himself will take out the antichrist. Awesome. Awesome. Yes. I wanna see that movie. Quick personal application, and then we're going to, have an opportunity to not remain still. So the personal application is, how many of you in here today... And I'm gonna telegraph the answer by saying all of our hands would go up. How many of us in here today have, in some area of our life or in our heart, turned our back on Jesus and rejected him? We know the truth, and we've just... We've either intentionally messed up and blown it, or maybe you've just made a mistake and been like, oh, fart. So dumb. Today, Jesus stands as a savior just like in Zephaniah where he calms our fears and wipes away our guilt and shame, and he takes it... Can you picture that? A dad taking his thumb and wiping away the tears that fall down the cheek of his little baby, And he calms our fears by rejoicing us and exalting over us with a song. But that's only available if we come to him. So let's take just a moment. This is not the end of service, but this is our our moment for personal encounter with him. Okay? Jesus, I come running to you for either volitional acts of rebellion against you or by commission or unintentional mistakes made by omission, whatever it is, we come to you. We run to you. We confess our sin to you. We ask you to forgive us, Jesus. And if you've never done that, why not a great day on tribe's birthday to make Jesus your rescuer, your redeemer, and your savior by saving you from the consequences of sin? Just ask him to forgive you. Ask him to come into your heart and literally encounter the forgiveness and freedom of Jesus. And you just tell him in the best way that I know how, I just give my life to you. Now let's take a moment and invite him to just whisper to our hearts. Thank you, Jesus. Amen. Thank you. Amen. Okay. Look at me. When it says I will not keep still implying action. As we mentioned to you earlier, we've recently been made aware of a financial need that a family and a community that we have relationship with in Israel. We've been made aware of that. And in talking with our pastor's council and our board of directors and our staff, we're all like, yeah, man. Let's let's let's do it. Do you have a picture of that family? We've we've mentioned them to you before, but that is the Gurman family. Dad with his goofy hat. His name is Jacob, and his wife there is to his left, our right, Sherry. That daughter that he's holding so close to, that's Gilly. And military service is compulsory in Israel. She graduated high school. She went through basic training several months ago, and and they're like, with the war that has broken out, we don't have time to place you in your unit. So go home and be with your family for three weeks, and then we'll we'll call you to the unit. This picture was taken when our family went to Israel several years ago. We've known Jacob and Sherry since both of us, all four of us, were recently married and no kids. They were traveling through Jackson, and I was working at Teton Mountaineering at the time. I think I end up owing them money by the time I was done working there because I spent it all on gear and good deals. Sorry, babe. You definitely owed them money. Where's our paycheck every month? And I'm like... Stay focused. Stay focused. But they came through and I said, why don't you stay with us? And we've developed a friendship over twenty five plus years now. This is their beautiful family, and they live kind of at the southern end of what's known as the Golan Heights. So north of the Sea Of Galilee. And they have been experiencing not direct attacks like we saw on the news with Hamas and the invasion of of communities. They're called kibbutz. And that has not happened to their community, but they have been numerous times and sometimes several times a day. They have gotten alert text messages and air raids and signals that that require them to go into their safe house of their room... In their house, safe house room, or go to a community bomb shelter. And, in talking with them, I said, well, what can we as Christians and as a tribe fam do for you? And they're like, oh, well, just keep us in your thoughts and prayers. They... They're not they're not practicing religious Jews, and they aren't Christians yet. And they said, just keep sending us kind, warm thoughts. And I was like, okay. So every day, I was like, alright. Besides kind, warm thoughts, I'm going to pray for you. And what else can we do? And as rocket fire came closer to them, they said, we have established, like, a community watch program where Jacob has... He and several other men of the community are on a round the clock rotating shift. There are two gated entrances with razor wire sounding... Surrounding the little community, And across the street is the Jordan Valley, and then you have, the country Of Jordan right across. Like, you could... It would be like from here to Wilson is the country Of Jordan overlooking a valley. And they said, okay. We've been doing this watch at these guard stations. Here's something that you can do. Our guard stations need supply then to be stocked up with really practical things like batteries for flashlights and flashlights and and water at these guard stations, first aid supplies. And one of the things that they've specifically asked for is... And and we probably will purchase it here and send it there, but a drone that can be used. And if you're familiar at all with what happened during Hamas, there were terrorists that couldn't get into gated communities, but then basically just like pressed the button. Let us... Everybody was in their bomb shelters, pressed the button, let us in, and unwittingly families were like, oh, maybe it's somebody from our kibbutz trying to get in and just buzz and buzz them in and open the gate. And and it was super bad, but with the ability to just send up a drone that can look look around, it will increase their situational awareness and be able for them to respond better and more appropriately. Super practical. Does that all make sense? And so I said, I'll bring these needs to our tribe family. And so we're gonna... Right here at the end of service, we're gonna receive a special offering above and beyond the tithe for supplies for their family personally and for their community that's around the the neighborhood in US dollars, not in shekels, but US dollars around $2,500. For a drone and extra props and batteries and prop guards and, like, just to keep the thing super safe and durable. That cost is about $2,500. So a total of $5,000 is what we're looking to raise here. In this moment, we're we're starting. And however the Lord would lead you to give, whether you give today or or your next paycheck or whatever, and then share it with your family and friends. $500 has already come in just as we said it word-of-mouth before we even got things out. I'll bless you with a benediction, then we can get out of here. Lord Jesus, Your word says in Isaiah 62, you put you put... You you did this, Lord. You told us to talk about Isaiah 62 like we had this planned before the war in in Israel broke out. You're up to something. When this... These practical needs came up for this family in this community, we are responding biblically by saying, we will not keep still. We have, identified these practical needs. And so as a tribe family, out of great love for you, Jesus, and trust that anything that we give to make our finances a deficit, you said that that it it it gonna come back to us somehow, someway. But even if it didn't, Lord, above the tithe, we want to present to you a special offering. So, God, I ask that right now, you would touch the hearts of families and individuals for how much you would invite them to give. And if your spouse is not here, I totally get it. Like, you and your spouse get unified, get on the same page. And so I I totally understand that. But, Lord, would you put an amount on the heart of each person that would give, of how much to give? Just whisper to their heart right now and give them the obedience and the courage to step out in faith. So let the lord talk to you. Okay. So, Jesus, those that have given or in the process of giving or have an amount placed on their heart that they're like, I gotta talk to my spouse about this, and and then they're gonna give. For those people that would give, would you bless them as a result? So cool to be a part of a church that looks at meeting the practical needs of the community, the region, and to the uttermost bounds of the earth. We pray these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
