We can start now. Cat's here. Let's pray and then let's come before the Lord and worship. Oh, Lord Jesus, we just tell you we love you today. We tell you that you're welcome here. We tell you that we came to meet with you. Nancy came to meet with you, Lord. I just know Nancy can take it. So I... And Lord, we just come before you and we just say, you are worthy of our worship today. You are worthy, worthy, worthy. And for everyone joining us on the livestream, Lord, we just ask that your presence would fall, that your presence would fall, your peace would meet them. For people who came from three minutes away and people who drove two and a half hours to be here today, Lord. We come expectant to encounter you. That's what changes us. Encounter with you through your word, through your holy spirit, through your presence, and we start that by opening our mouths and praising you because you're worthy today. In Jesus' name. Let's sing I will wait for you. Just wait on him this morning, press in. Will wait for you. And I will remain, Just come before him this morning. Just reposition your heart, reposition your mind, just set your focus on him today. Remind yourself that your hope is found in him and him alone, not in our own strength. Say, we said, yes, Lord. We declare it. We said our hope on you. We set our hope on your love. We set our hope on the one who is the everlasting god. Set our hope on your love we set our hope on the one who is the everlasting god you are the everlasting will remain confident in this. I will see the goodness of the Lord. Come on. What do you need to see his goodness apply to? Will remain confident. Remind yourself. See the goodness of the love because he's good. Yeah. I remain confident in this. I will see the goodness of the Lord. Oh, yes, we will. Just take a minute, just close your eyes and just come before him this morning. He already knows your heart, he already knows your burdens, he already knows what you come in here with today. Just tell him, Lord, I need to see your goodness in this area, in this relationship, and my finances, and my physical health, whatever it is. Ask him to just remind you that he's good and he's got you. Just rest in his goodness today. Slay it before him again. It's so easy to pick up those burdens. Sing, I set my hope. I set my hope on you. I set my hope on your love. Remain confident in this. I will see the goodness of the Lord. Will remain... You sing it out. Yes, we will, Lord. Not even death, hell, and the grave could hold you down. We just lay our burdens at your feet again. We ask that you would take those things that we thought were dead and you would just raise them to life because you are the resurrection. And when your spirit touches those things that are dead, they come back to life that are of you. That's right. That's your favorite thing to do. You're in the business of taking dead things, restoring them, and bringing them back better than they were. You are the resurrection and the life. Just stand on who you are today. Even death could not hold you. Let's sing that together. Death could not hold you. The veil a powerful name it is. Name of Jesus. Declare this about him. Death could not. Death could not hold you. They'll talk before you. Silence the buzz of sin and grace. Just think about that. Your name is powerful, God. Oh, your name is powerful, God. Lord, we just come before you in your name today. Jesus, we just tell you we love you and soul. I just feel like even in just in this room that he's taking old things, old things we thought have passed away and he's just making them new. Dreams, areas we've closed off. Let me just tell you we love you. Come. Come by your spirit. Just give him permission today. Sing a love song to you, Jesus. Just love I just feel like he wants to sing over someone in here. Oh, you're so beautiful. As we sing that to him, song. Just receive his love this morning. Mind's eye of a a big waterfall. The waterfall was God's presence and his provision. And there are a lot of people standing around the waterfall, varying degrees of closeness to the waterfall. And everybody had some type of a container, whether it was a thimble. I saw somebody... It took them a little while to get to the waterfall, but they had a big barrel that they were dragging up to the waterfall. A lot of people had cups or, you know, little buckets. And I asked, like, okay, the picture that I'm seeing, what... Tell me about that. And the Lord said, look on the label of everybody's bucket. And there was the same label on everybody's bucket or container. And it just said, need. And the people in my my mind's eye, the people were kinda looking around at everybody else's container that they brought to the waterfall. And there was this idea of the person with the bigger container, like like, oh, man, that person's really needy this week. Like, I wonder what kind of week they had that they're dragging this big container up to the waterfall. And God was just like, I will fill any container that's brought to the waterfall of my presence. And so, I mean, there's not a lot else that... I mean, you could be hunting today. It's about all this weather is good for. That and, like, reading a book by the fire. But you're here. You've come all the way to the foot of the waterfall. What kind of container are you coming with? You're coming with, like, a little thimble. You walk away with a thimble full of his presence, and you're like, well, you know, my life's not that changed or that different after being here. Or that person that's, like, dragging a big... You know, those big blue, like, supply barrel things that are plastic? Somebody's, like, like, dragging it up there. That's... God's, like, oh, I'll fill that. Oh, I'll fill that. So the person with the greatest need stands the chance to meet the Lord the most. And the truth is, whether you came with a thimble or a pail or a glass, the truth is all of us have barrel sized needs, whether we realize it or not, whether our pride will allow us to admit it or not. So, in the last few minutes that we have Of worship. Of worship. Of this type of or Yeah. Yeah. I just clarified. Well, you can't die until we talk about our conversation today. So, in the last few minutes before he returns, let's look around, like, just off to the side of the waterfall. This is the last part of my picture. Last part, whether you came with a a little cup or a thimble or you were judging that person that was dragging the barrel up the hill. The last part of my picture is right around the corner, There's a big supply of big blue barrels, one with each of your name on it, that the Lord has strategically placed there because he he knows how much you truly need to encounter him today. So, go recycle your glass, your plastic cup, sneak around the corner and just grab a big barrel and meet with him today here. How do I physically do that? Just talk to him from your heart. Open your mouth and sing the words to this your And I time. You I Just press in. Sometimes I just ask him, Lord, show me and reveal to me my sin I need to bring before you. Because when he does, it just... It breaks down this wall between us and it shows me my great need for him. And I just repent. Jesus, I need Yes, Lord. Lord, as we just continue to worship you and dig into your word today, continue to speak to us. You are here. Your presence is here. And where your presence is, there's freedom. There's conviction. There's life. There's peace. There's all the things that we need, Lord, found in you by drawing close to you. So set our hearts on you today. Don't let us get distracted or disengaged, but Lord, let's stay pressed in to what you have for us today. Thank you. Thank you for today. Thank you for every person in this room that has set this time aside to meet with you. You will honor it. You will honor it because you are faithful. We tell you we love you in Jesus' name. One away. Corey's like No. Nope. Not at all. Well, the good news is this system will clear out and it'll be mild, but still... We still got time to get those leaves mowed up and the ladders put away and plenty of time to get the brown down for this year's hunting season. If you have your Bibles with you, you can... We're not gonna go there just yet, but in a moment we're gonna be in John chapter three. Let me give you a little bit of introduction to what we're gonna talk about for next few conversations. If you remember, we just finished a series of conversations on Sukkot. Sukkot. That's right. So Sukkot is a feast of the Lord that we spent several weeks leading up to and then we did some really fun things during the week of Sukkot. And my team really doesn't like it. Carry If a series longer than like four weeks, Joy is like the max that you can ever do a series is five weeks. Oh, and I'm getting some confirmation that the max that I can ever do a series is of five weeks from our junior high students in the back here. Alright. So, we have more to talk about, but what I've done is I found the loophole. Is we're still gonna like kind of continue in the same vein because we need to cover some more ground but I'm just calling it a new series. I feel like, you know, like as a parent when you have to like trick trick your kids into like bath time or something like, I don't wanna take a bath. Yeah. But who's ready for scuba practice? And then they go for it. So so today, family, we're starting a new series and everybody said... Yay. So if you remember, we finished our Sukkot series last week by mentioning three things. That part of what happens at Sukkot is we're going to see the rescue of Israel by the Messiah. We're gonna see the resurrection of the dead, and we're going to get to see and experience the resting and dwelling with Jesus. I had mentioned it for several weeks but if we were gonna carry on with this series like everybody would be like, oh my gosh, let's talk about something new and different. And so we're gonna talk about something new and different. This is new and different. It is new and different. It's hard to trick us. I know and I can't trick you guys. You guys are way too smart. So if you remember at the end of the Sukkot series we finished by talking about the rescue of Israel by the Messiah. How how when Jesus returns back to planet Earth, you you know he's coming back, right? When he comes back, he's coming back primarily to rescue and to ransom Israel. The Bible says that Israel will look upon the one whom they've pierced and they're going to be like, you are the Messiah. Their hearts will turn. They will fall in love with their Messiah who's already pledged his love and devotion to Israel and there's gonna be an incredible wedding. And I said, but not only when Jesus returns will we see Jesus rescue Israel, but there are two other things. So we're going to talk about those other things in a few weeks of conversations that I'm calling resurrection. New life, new body, new assignment. So that's where we're going to dive into our conversation today. And if you're new to Tribe or if you haven't been in a while, you know that hopefully when you hear that word conversation, that stands out in your mind as something different. Like, wait, we're gonna have a conversation? Yes, that's my desire. I want us to have a conversation about this material. I don't want it to just be me talking because of several reasons. Number one, I learn when you share and talk and ask questions. So I get stuff out of it. Number two, you are more engaged with the content that we're talking about when you think of this time that we are here as a conversation, a dialogue. I mean imagine meeting your friend for coffee and then sitting across the table from them and then just being like, okay, go ahead, say all your words. Well, usually is what happens when Corey and I go out for a beer. Is I'm like, Corey, let's go have a conversation. And then I just end up using all the words and he goes, Uh-huh. Uh-huh. And then he asks insightful questions and I keep talking more and then at the end I go home and I'm like, I didn't ask Corey a single question. He's a very good listener by the way if you need somebody to talk to. But I want this to be a conversation. You're more engaged. I learn more. You learn more. And I really in a way I really want this to be a model where in a... How many of you tomorrow and if you raise your hand I'll be like awesome good for you. How many of you tomorrow could stand up on a stage in front of 5,000 people and share God's word? Yeah, come on. Yeah, good. Alright, good, good, good, good. Okay, how many of you would be less intimidated if you if you met with several of your friends in your living room and together you guys open the Bible and discovered what God's word had to say just together in a small setting. How many of you would be okay good. So we might not all get a stage with 5,000 people but tomorrow we could fill a living room and open up our Bibles and just have a conversation. So the other reason why we do are doing this format right now in this way in this season that the Lord has us in is I want to try to model for you how easy how easy it is to just open up your Bibles and have a conversation among friends about what God's word has to say. Does that make sense? With that in mind, we're gonna take three weeks. Well, it'll be four weeks because because, Maddie, next week is the church birthday. So next week, we're gonna have a birthday party. Tribe turns six. Oh, and I was gonna ask Corey about making a little video. But I'll text him I'll text him I'll text him later about that. We'll add it to his work. He's neutral response neutral response. See what it'll take. And then we'll get back into then we'll get back into this series. So this week, at the top of your notes, you can write the title of this morning's conversation, Resurrection Week one New Life. That's what we're gonna talk about today. New life. You know that the idea, the concept of resurrection is foundational to the Christian faith. But how many of us, if we were having coffee with a friend, and they said, now you're one of those Jesus followers Christians. Right? Yes. I am. Now Jesus, like, rose from the dead? Yes, he did. And like you guys believe in like resurrection? Like you die but then you like don't die? Yeah. And then they say they fold their hands underneath their chin and they say, tell me about this idea or concept of resurrection. It's okay. For those of you on the livestream, a dead person didn't just come back to life. Just a little coffee spill. Just a little coffee spill. Poor bear. Welcome to our family. It It happens. So if somebody were to ask you, tell me about resurrection. Well let let's have a conversation. If somebody let let's pretend. Somebody were to say, okay, you're a Christian. Jesus rose from the dead. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So tell me about resurrection. Like, what are some of the things that you would point people towards or even maybe bible verses or concepts or ideas? How would you explain resurrection? And for our livestream family, we have the mic right there, but what would you say in your own words? In general because resurrection is a is a key or core tenant of Christianity and so whether you want to talk about something in Revelation or Jesus or in general, what sort of things would you think of or what would come to mind? I see your I see your wheels turning. I love that. Lazarus. Lazarus. So a person says, Lazarus? I don't know Lazarus. What's that? Why did you wanna get the microphone? Well, I don't know. Tell us a little more. I just think about Jesus speaking Lazarus' name, come forth, and he'd been dead for four days? Mhmm. Four days, and he just rose from the dead, was resurrected. So so you're sitting across, so you're at picnic. Or maybe you're at Pikka's, having some of the chips in Guac, the half and half. Oh, so good. I could talk a lot... For a long time about the Bible But we're not... When I'm seated at Pikka's. Oh, I thought you said he could talk a long time about the half and half. I was like, but we're not gonna Bean dip. Today. Oh, that drunken bean dip? So so so you say Lazarus. So there's this guy Lazarus. There's a story in the bible of a guy, Jesus' friend, he died. He was in the grave four days and Jesus showed up, called his name, and that dude came walking out of the tomb still wrapped in his grave clothes. Resurrection. Yes. What other things or concepts or bible verses, ideas come to your mind? B, I'm gonna call on you soon because I know there's something in there. So just giving you a heads up. So I think I would start off by saying that it is a free gift and it is for everybody. Oh, okay. If you take the time to get to know my savior, then you could follow him. And then I think the other big thing to me is that if you are one of these who looks at all religions, this is the only one where God comes down to you, not you having to rise up to another God. So I think that would be important. Mhmm. And and then I... You know, the big emphasis was that it's free. It's grace. I love that. I love that. So I love I love how you're answering that question because I can picture you sitting across a table from somebody sharing that. I love that. I love that. So there are other religions that have the idea or some sort of similar concept of what might be called reincarnation, but that's very different than the Christian doctrine of resurrection. We're going to talk more about that difference, but I love how not only is resurrection a key tenant of the Christian faith, but God in his son Jesus paved the way by going first. He's the first fruits of resurrection. We'll talk about more about that later too. Yes, Carlos. I mean, I was sitting next to somebody and we're just like talking, then I just go through the gamut of questions like, how did he resurrect? Why did he resurrect? What purpose does it serve? I just go through all the questions. I love that. I love that. Be thinking of those questions because I I can I think I can safely assume I don't know every single person in this room but I know that you're you live in The United States and The United States is essentially saturated with the gospel and access to the gospel is ubiquitous? I would say here in Jackson, we are a post Christian tribe of people, but we're definitely not pre Christian or unreached. We have all kinds of access to the gospel where people can ask those questions and get those answers. But if people ask us, we need to be... We need to have something in mind. And if you are coming up with a big old giant question mark in your brain like, this is why I hate taking tests because I don't know what I would say. It's great that you're here because we're going to talk about it. I'm not going to necessarily feed you lines of like, here's what to say when you're at Pikos talking about the resurrection. But over the course of these conversations, hopefully you'll be like, oh, that's really good. Now I'm going to come to Bea, and then we're going to get into John chapter three. I just want to hear your thoughts, Bea. Okay. I think as far as resurrection, I think of us now, like when we get baptized and like that symbolism of being born again. And in the Bible, talks a lot about the old man. And sometimes, I think, we resurrect the parts of us that need to stay dead. And so, habitual sins and generational curses or something like that, we have to renew our minds daily and part of that is to keep chopping off those limbs that essentially killing you, like bringing the dead things back to life. Because I think it's cool how we do that because it's... I think that's part of the image of God, how he can bring things back to life. We can too, but sometimes we choose to revive the things that aren't so They just stay dead. That just stay dead. Yeah. So, yeah. That's it. I love it. So Beast sitting at Pikka's and that person like is getting their hair blown back by like, woah, you're saying so much. That's amazing. So why don't we dive into what God's word has to say about resurrection with two r's by looking at John chapter three. And would somebody would somebody please just read a few verses from John chapter three verse three through six. There's more to this story, and if you're unfamiliar with this story, oh baby, you gotta go back and read this story. But this is where we're just gonna start our conversation grounded in God's word this morning. Three through six, whoever has the mic can let it rip. It's not fair. I always have the mic. Jesus answered and said to him, truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to him, how can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he? Jesus answered, truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the spirit is spirit. This is important. Perhaps a review and not on the notes, but we need to understand according to God's design, our personhood is made up of three parts or components. Right? What's one of those parts? You can just shout it out. Our body. Yes. What's another one? Our soul, which includes our mind. Yep. Yep. Bunch of different names. And then finally, our spirit. So we are a spirit. We live in a body, and we have a mind or soul or flesh. Some people call it our chooser. Okay? It's made of our mind, will, our emotions, our personality. But when you look in the mirror, are you seeing you? Trick question. The tree? No. No. No. No. When you look in the mirror, you're not really seeing you. Are seeing the equipment that you've been given for this particular assignment. And what do I call this you guys? Your earth suit. Your earth suit. This is your earth suit. It's what you've got while you're here. And this thing... And the knees could be a little stronger. The hair could stick around a little while longer, but it's pretty well suited for this for this environment. Take this thing and put it on the summit of Mount Everest. Doesn't do too well. Put this thing put it down in the Marianas Trench. Doesn't do too well. Put this thing in a Martian atmosphere. It don't do too well. But for here on this planet at this altitude, it does really really really well. But it's not who you are, And Jesus is getting at that point in this passage. He says that your mom and dad give you physical life. That's born of water or born of the flesh. Born of water. But then Jesus says, you need to be born again. We heard bee say it a moment ago. You need to be born again. Then Nicodemus goes on and asks, well, how can a man enter his mother's womb again to be born? And Jesus is like, ah, no. Bro, you're missing the whole point of what I'm trying to say. So we begin by our parents giving us life, but in order to be born again something has to die. There's an exchange there. Let's look at another verse. And to make it easy, why don't you read it from the screen? Somebody can read it out loud. Let's go to this next verse. First John chapter five verse 12. Just one verse. Whoever has the son has life. Whoever does not have God's son does not have life. Man. Anybody... Was anybody ever, like, in school or bible camp or discipleship school? Anybody ever made to memorize that verse? Just curious. That one. Right? It's a good one. He who has the sun has life. It don't matter how hard you can ski, how high you can climb, what's in your bank account. If you don't have the sun, you don't have life. You're dead. The picture that comes to my mind is the story of Pinocchio. Remember? All he wanted was real life and to be a real boy. And then he goes to that carnival where there's the lights and the fun and all this is happening, really they're being turned into donkeys, they're really dying in the midst of all the glitz and glamour and excitement. There's no real life there. It's a mask. It's a facade. It's a thin veneer. It's bait on the hook. If anybody listening to this podcast, watching the livestream, participating in the livestream, or in this room within the sound of my voice, If you have not been born of the spirit, you do not have the sun. If you do not have the sun, I need to tell you, you do not have life. Now what you may do is put your finger right here on... What's the name of this pulse? Radial. Radial. Radial. Carotid. Femoral. Will you get this one? Total. Total? Don's texting right now. I'm pointing to the top of my foot. Your dorsalis pedis. You put your finger to your pulse and you're like, what do you mean I'm dead? I'm like cranking along at 68 beats per minute. It's the illusion of life. You're dead. Then you're like, what are you talking about? And you say, come on over to my house, we're gonna watch The Matrix and I'll explain Jesus to you from The Matrix. If you do not have the sun, you do not have life. Stop me. Ask questions. Make connections. Comments. Yes. I think the beauty of Christianity no matter where you are, whether you're in the infant stage or mature, I think we have one verse, John three sixteen, I think that we can always go to, first and foremost. And it is not a sin to say, I don't know the answer to that question. Can I get back with you? When you're talking to somebody at Pikas over chips and dip. Exactly. Mhmm. So, I mean, we don't have to be mature. We have everything that we need with one verse and can follow-up with that. So you know we make a lot of excuses as to why we can't And, you know, I just think that that's that's pretty lame because I think it helps you to present and it also helps you and the other person when you... If there is a question to say, I'll get back with you. Because I think honesty in portraying the gospel is essential. Mhmm. I love that. And even if you don't have John three sixteen memorized, what do you... You you have two things. You still have two things even if you don't have a single bible verse memorized to share with somebody at Pikka's. But it is the most memorized. But it is the most memorized. One of them is Our testimony. Our testimony. How did you meet God? Did... Remember when Jesus healed the demoniac and he was like like had one foot in the boat ready to go with Jesus and Jesus like no no no stay. He tells him go back to your family which is interesting and then he says just so tell him the wonderful thing that God has done for you, your testimony. If you have the Son you have life. You have new life. You've been born of the spirit. You have a testimony. Really quickly a testimony is made up of three things. What was my life before I met Jesus? How did I meet Jesus? And how has he changed my life? That you say those three things, that's your testimony. And we have our testimony, even if we don't have John three sixteen memorized, we also have what? The Holy Spirit living on the inside of us, prompting us, leading us, guiding us. So that verse, John three sixteen, the idea and the concept of resurrection is in that verse. Share us that verse. I'm putting you on the spot, but share with us that verse. Pause, I was just practicing. Dry run. Poor Clay. Now for the now for the real Yeah. Presentation. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life. He shall not die but have eternal life. So this idea of death and life and resurrection and eternal life, it could be really easy to get confus ed in the semantics and definitions. He shall not die. My grandmother loved Jesus. She had the son, so she had Life. Life. She was born from a mom and dad, but she was also born of this spirit, but then she died. Like she's not here like I could I can take you to her grave. And so for things that are if you've been walking with the Lord for a long period of time there are concepts or phraseology that we use that if we're not careful could lead us off into the weeds for a little while before we get back on track. Whomsoever shall believe in him shall not die but have eternal life. I know a lot of people who love Jesus and believed in him and weak and I can take you to their grave right now. Answer that for me. I know that you might have an answer, but can you see the question that the reality of our experience poses on that verse. Right? Okay. Okay. You're with me. I was thinking because I couldn't remember the exact Hebrew word, and I don't know if you're going this way or not, but the word eternity... Yeah. Eternity, eternal, whatever that is, in Hebrew is, like, olem or olem or something like that. Anyway, it doesn't just mean, like, that I don't think when it we see it in the Bible, it doesn't just mean, like, and your physical life ends and then a new life begins. I think it's a way of life is how the Hebrew really says it. So, like, we shall not perish but have eternal life. It doesn't just mean once our physical bodies die, a new one starts up. Although we... That's not wrong. But you can have eternal life for the Hebrew word, whatever it is, here on earth right now. Equality. In this moment. Yeah. The Lord like like something... Your your body is still there. It's alive now. Your body's gonna die. That's fine. But our our spirits who we truly are, when the bible says that, the Lord is saying like you can have it now. There's no waiting. You have it now. It just will look different later. I love that. Very good. You were getting some amen nods from b back there. Anne, do you need the mic? Share some more. I was, like, thinking of the same thing. And I am... I love, like, living, like, eternal life now, like heaven on earth, because we... The access that we have to God, I don't think we fully understand. So, like, with with, like, things like healing and stuff, like how there will be no pain in heaven, and, like, Jesus died so that we could be healed. And so, like, I'm a firm believer in, like, here and resources. He owns the cattle on a thousand heels. When it comes to trusting and believing God's word, I really like to apply the literal sense to my life because, like you said, we can bring heaven to earth because eternal life starts now. It starts when you are born again. And so I'm like, I don't want to downgrade or suffer while I'm here because of the new life that God has promised me. And so when it starts now, I believe it starts now. So whenever I need healing, I'm like, healing starts now, not later. So I'm not gonna wait till I get to heaven to pray to be healed, right? It's like I fully believe right now that I can be healed because that life was promised to me. And so, yeah, that's... I love it. That's good. So what what... You two are saying the same thing about a quality and a condition of life, not a transition of life. Let's look up another verse, and we're we're we're building a foundation for resurrection even though all we've we've mostly been talking about new life. Here's another verse. Second Corinthians chapter five verse 17. And somebody could read that from the screen with the mic would be great. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone. A new life has begun. It's just what Bea was saying. Second Corinthians five seventeen. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ or we can substitute some of the new words phrases that we've learned from other Bible verses just this morning, has been born again, has the son, has been born of the spirit. All of those things mean the same thing, belong to Christ. They have become a new person. Bible says in various translations, the most accurate word is they've become a new creation. Homo nuevo, a new species. Homo novus, I like that better. So in a different version, says he becomes a Christian. He becomes a brand new person inside. Okay. And I and I like that because because that is where the changes, right, part our body inside Okay. Is where that change begins. Yes. Alright. Let's do a quick survey. And if you don't raise your hand, I'm not gonna assume that you're not saved. I'm just gonna assume that you're being rude and not participating in the survey. But you also might not be saved. So for those of you for those of you who got saved after you got saved, did you go to the mirror and see if you physically changed? How many of you, your face physically changed after you got saved? Okay. None of us because of that reason. On the inside, we became a new creation, a new species of being. In the Old Testament, God worked from the outside in getting a halt of man's heart. He blessed him with sheep and cattle and a a wife that could give him lots of children, and his crops were abundant. All these things were external with the intention of them working its way on the inside. God says in the Old Testament, behold, I do something new. Those old things that I've done, set those aside. I'm gonna do something new. So now in the new covenant, he starts by working right in the core, the very inside, by making a new creation, and that new creation works its way to the out, including our finances and our health and our possessions and the work of our hands. I was just gonna say, in a... Addition to that, it's so cool. Kind of in contrast, even though we don't look different when we get saved. I remember the day I got saved, and even though I didn't physically look different, I saw everything different. It was like in that moment I went from seeing in black and white my whole life, even though I wasn't actually see... But I... Everything looked different because I saw it through a different filter. So, like, from the inside I was seeing and perceiving everything completely different. Oh, that's so good. Even the way I saw other people. That's so good. Even though they didn't physically look different because it was spirit. That's good. So we've talked a lot about this new life, but where does resurrection come into play? For all of these verses that we've just read, there is... And we could go back through, but you've wrote the address down so that you can go back and study and look for it yourself. But in each of these verses, it's either directly or indirectly indirectly implied that there needs to be an exchange. Jesus says, what's born of flesh gives birth to flesh, but there's needs to be some sort of exchange that happens so that you can be born again. He who has the son has life. There needs to be an exchange there. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. And here we see in second Corinthians five seventeen, we get a glimpse, a picture into that exchange. The old life is gone. In order to get Jesus' life, something has to die. It is a free gift, but there is an exchange required. When they offer it at churches, they'll say, if you would Yeah. There's an... Yes. Yes. There is an exchange. In order for you to get Jesus' life, something has to die. There needs to be death has to be in the equation. And this is where we begin to touch on this idea and this concept of resurrection. You having a thought? Stop reading my mind. I was reading a commentary a while ago and it said the way that they described it was like, if you're going to California, you need to leave where you are to go to that destination. Right? So it's... That made it make a lot of sense to me. That's great. Yeah. Great way. Great way to... Of one of lots of different ways of thinking about it. This verse is not on the screen, but I I love this one. Galatians two twenty. It says this. I'm just going to read it unless you can turn there really quickly. I'm just going to read it. Galatians two twenty. My old self has been crucified with Christ. There's the death, There's the exchange. There's the leaving one destination for another destination. There's the surrender of your heart to get his life. The exchange. The exchange, it it might be said in many creative ways, some of them more palatable than others, but the bottom line is death. Mhmm. Has to die in order for it to be resurrected and be born again? You having a thought? Okay. So when you die... So when I was saved, I mean, was a big to do in church. Right? So you've got the water tank, and your old self is right here, and then you are plunged into the water. And when you bring yourself up, then you are the new self. Is that what the water? That's one symbol that's one symbol of the water and the primary symbol of the water, and you're talking about water baptism. When you go underneath the waters of baptism, that is not an ideal environment for the earth suit that we've been given. Your earth suits got like, if you're a navy seal, maybe six minutes. Then maybe then then your earth suits gets into trouble really fast. But the picture is that you're buried with Christ in death and you raised to walk in newness of life. It's not the waters of baptism that do it, but it is a sign or a symbol. Does the wedding ring I wear... I lost it in the ocean. Lost it in the ocean. It got baptized the other day. So when I have that ring on, that lets the whole world know that I'm married. If the ring comes off, y'all am I still married? Yeah. It's just an outward sign or a symbol. That's what water baptism is. But I'm reading that verse in Galatians two twenty. My old self has been crucified with Christ. How many of you know that how many times out of 10 crucifixion results in death? 10 times out of 10 crucifixion results in death. So then Paul says, It is no longer I who live, my old self, my old nature. But Christ lives in and expresses his life through me. I live in this earthly body, there's that earth suit, and environment, I got to go to work, I got to brush my teeth, I have emotion, all those things. Still live in this world by trusting the son of God who loved me and he gave himself for me. There's that exchange. Now let's look really clearly at a story that you started with as we start to land the plane. Let's all turn to John chapter 11 and we're going to begin to see in Jesus' own words the idea and the concept of resurrection. It's super important and foundational. Imagine asking a fish to describe water. They'd be like, you know, we just... Fish grows up in water. Probably be very hard for a fish if he could talk and have an existential conversation about water. I like to think of it this way. Have you ever drifting off to sleep and it's a really quiet room room, but you have a fan on, but then the the breaker pops and the fan turns off. While the fan's running, you don't really notice it. It happened to us last night. While the fan is running, you're just like, it's a nice quiet room. But as soon as the fan turns off, you're like, what was that? Or like those... Like in the classrooms, the neon lights that have that fluorescent lights that have that as soon as those are turned off you really notice the absence of it. In a similar way that's kind of the idea of the doctrine of resurrection for Christians. We might have even gone through it, experienced it, and we've read about it, but do we really understand it? I'm not asking for a master's level head knowledge, but I want us to be familiar with it. Like how many of you this morning, at some point this morning before you got here, used a light switch? How many of you can explain electricity and breakers and all of those things? Right? I don't know. Just hit the switch. Okay. Colin can. Alright. So I'm gonna step down for the next five minutes. It was Colin that had the equation too, wasn't it? Oh, god. Man. Yeah. All things scientific and technical, we'll refer to Colin. Look at his blushing so hard right now. Colin's contribution to our conversation everyone. You don't need to for many of us we we use electricity for all of us we use electricity every single day but not all of it we just kind of take it for granted yeah I mean it's electricity hit the switch and light goes Yeah. But there's more to it. In a similar way, the doctrine of the resurrection is so important for us, but we need to have a fresh and new and hopefully deeper understanding of it. So listen to what Jesus explains in this story in John chapter 11. And it's a big story, but we're just gonna read two verses. Somebody can read it for me. Verse 24 through 26. Jesus told her, your brother will rise again. Yes, Martha said, he will rise when everyone else rises at the last day. Jesus told her, I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this Martha? Right. Right. That's when your ears go up and your head goes back and forth. That my friend that I met Pikas with? No. No. No. Oh, the other friend. Joe. Yes. Joe. Okay. There we go. He had said, you know, when when you never die, that that spirit... Remember he talked about how he doesn't wanna worship the whole time he wants to go fishing. Right? So that stuck in my head when he said that. Out of all he said, that stuck in your head. I'm gonna text him. I'm gonna text him right now. Leah's talking about a guest speaker that we have, but I'm glad that that that that stuck with you. I remember that too. So we can see here the fragrance of the exchange of death and life. Death and new life. Resurrection is all about new life. It comes... Even though it is a free gift. It comes at the exchange of something. Our life. Remember what Jesus said? If you seek to try to find your life, you're gonna lose it. But if you lay your life down for my sake, you'll find true life. And not when you die, but when you find it. But also when you die. Just like Jesus said. Even after dying. Look what Jesus said. Jesus told her, I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never die. Quick question. I thought you said that even after we die, but now we're not gonna die. Jesus is like, hold on. Let me just do a thing. I gotta get Lazarus out, then we can talk. Resurrection, eternal life for our spirit begins the moment we make that exchange and invite Jesus into our heart. We lay down our life to receive his eternal life. That's what it means to be born again. Now someday our earth suit is going to wear out, but we're going to get a new one. Come on, Kim. Okay. So I was with a friend this week, and we were talking kind of about, like, she had this... Well, we were praying together. Were you at Pika's? We were not at Pika's. We were at her house. And we were... She had a... She had, like, a near death experience, and she met with with Jesus afterwards. And it was amazing. And then I had a kind of a similar encounter. It wasn't a near death experience, but I felt, like, hopeless and defeated and, like, like I was dead or going to die, you know, like, And and it was, like, you know, was, like, ten, eleven years ago when Nathan was a baby, and I was just sick. I was, like, literally sick, and I didn't know what was going on with me. And I literally was, like, crying out to Jesus, like, worshiping him. I put some music... Worship music on, and I was, like, crying out to Jesus. And he encountered me in that situation, like... And all, like, all he... Like, I just had this amazing picture of him just, like, rocking me back and forth, back and forth, back and forth like a baby saying, it's okay. It's okay. It's okay. And so she had this near death experience where she met Jesus, and he, like, changed everything. And... Well, not changed everything, but, like, transformed her mind, like, longing to be with him, you know, like, living... She want... She was dead, and then she's, like, alive again. And, like, me, I felt dead, and then, like, his encounter changed me, you know. And so I I guess just, like, thinking a lot about this, like, dead, like, his encounter transforms and brings life. Yeah. It's gonna kill me. Psalms one thirty one says, Lord, my heart is not proud. My eyes are not haughty. I don't concern myself with matters too great. This is in relation to what you are saying. Instead, uh-oh, exchange. I have calmed and quieted myself like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother's milk. Yes. Like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, put your hope in the Lord now and always. For anyone who has been born again, You have and are currently in the present progressive tense experiencing eternal life as you are in the present progressive tense putting to death your old nature. For anybody in the sound of my voice or listening on the podcast or watching the live stream who has not made that exchange yet. If you think of your life like like driving a car, looming out in front of you is death. And I mean that in the stopping someday of your blood pump, it's gonna stop pumping blood someday. And I also mean it in terms of the quality and caliber and condition of your life. Death, the wages of sin is death. That's looming large in front of you. Go ahead. I do. I just wanna bring this up because I didn't understand people's testimonies when they're like, was I was I was... I felt dead. I needed all I had because my testimony is like, it's not the opposite because of course I was dead. But it was just if anyone's listening and going, I don't know, I don't feel like I'm... I don't feel that death. Mine was ultimate pride because I I had to be brought down from... I loved the control of my life. I loved... I was my own God. It was actually the utmost of highs when I was the most dead, which is so weird. So I had to be actually humbled. So if... I just wanna make... So it can be a little bit different. You don't have to be, like, in this turmoil. It's almost scarier when you don't even realize that you're dead and that you need him. That's all... To me that... So I just wanna make... I just wanted to... I had to bring that up. I was stirring over here and I don't know I who that's for, loved it. That was why Romans... I think it's... What was it? Twelve three or something? Don't think you are better than you really are. That one brought me to my knees. Yeah. Because I needed to be humbled. Because I didn't think I... I wasn't... I think I was dead. Die in you. Your... Pride. Oh, my pride. Totally. Absolutely. Yep. So just if that's not stirring in somebody going, I I feel fine. Yeah. I'm not at my lowest of lows. You are. I love that. For the Christian, there is a... It's a it's a reversal. Can I say something else? Go. Go. Go. Because I was thinking similarly that, like, you know, I think sometimes when you are saved later, those neuro neuro pathways are like really stuck in there. So... For those of you who are saved later in life. Yes. Yes. Okay. Yep. Yeah. Age wise. Yes. Yep. And so, like, there was... When I got saved, there was definitely, like, some newness that I felt for sure. But I've heard this message, like, so many times now or I've like read it in the bible so many times, but it it took a lot. Like I'm just starting to get it. Like, oh, I don't have to like be that way anymore. I don't have to. And it's like, and I think because it wasn't an immediate like, I'm a completely different person and like none of those old ways or like old patterns of thinking are changed immediately, maybe I'm not saved. And that's not the case. Right? But, it's like for me, it it takes constantly whenever I notice that thing happening, constantly redirecting myself and my thoughts to Jesus. So, that they can change. I love that. But, it takes time sometimes. Just remember. So, that is... Somebody look it up and you can read. So, Gretchen, look it up. Hand the mic off. Gretchen. Gretchen. And then, I want you to look up Romans twelve one and two and then read that out loud because that's just what you're talking about. What were you gonna say? So, there is a verse in the Bible in first John three nine and it says, whosoever or whoever is born, who has been born of God does not sin. Yes. And it doesn't say what, but who. So as you were saying before, we have a body where we saw right where we are, a spirit. So, like, over there is talking about the spirit that's born from God, cannot sin again. Right? Correct. In the old testament, they used to, like, circumcise. Right? People. Correct. And that process was actually meaning of, set aside for God. Right? Yes. And then, in the new testament, when you're born again, like, your spirit, it says, like, in in another verse, says that like, your spirit is circumcised. Right? It's set aside for God. Yes. So, like, that means for me, that means that whatever enters into your like body or soul, right, cannot enter into your spirit anymore because your your spirit is set aside for God. Right? Correct. And so that means that your spirit... Once you're born again, your spirit cannot sin again because God lives in your spirit. Right? That is correct. You can sin in your body. You can sin in your soul. Right? Yes. And the process of, like, living a holy life is like submitting your body and your soul to your spirit, which is God lives in your spirit. Right? Before we get saved, our flesh was large and in charge. It was our pride, our our our appetites, our desires, our being our own God or whatever. And and our spirit laid dormant. We died to ourself. Our spirit is born again. It's resurrected to new life. So we have new life. And it's now the one that's in charge. But darn, if we don't try to go back to those old habits and patterns where our flesh tries to be the boss. That's why we have to give no thought or the Bible says no consideration. Give no consideration consideration to to the the flesh. Flesh. And in con... And let me address this because if you're born in the spirit, you cease sinning. How many of you are Christians and you messed up even this morning before your way to church? Not me. Oh, so you... Oh, I was there. Remember? Fact check. Yeah. Real time fact check. So, if the Bible says that that I... If if I'm born again that I don't sin and I know that I'm born again because I have the son and have life, but I sinned. That's our old nature rising up. And there's a great book on our... In our bookstore. Mark, would you point to the bottom book? Mark, would you point to the bottom book on the bookshelf on the right here? Is it the birthright? That's it. Alright. He can see it. It's the bottom book. There it is. Thanks. That book is really great about addressing that specifically and our new nature in Christ and he gives a beautiful analogy of being grafted in into a a new tree and being a new creation. And he answers that really well. Romans twelve one or two? One and two? I don't I don't... It's it's... This is for you, Gretchen. Okay. Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Yeah. And do not be conformed to Here this world we but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove that the will of God is that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Okay. Just like Leah was mentioning earlier. This is what I mean by conversation. Together, we're weaving together this conversation. What you mentioned earlier, when I... After I got saved, looked in the mirror and I didn't I didn't look any different because the change happened on the inside. Your spirit was born again. It ceases to sin. But darn this thing. This thing didn't get born again. It needs to be renewed. It needs to be transformed through the renewing. Don't be conformed any longer to the thoughts and patterns just old way. Instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. The exchange and follow me. The flesh needs to be crucified. Yeah. The flesh doesn't get born again. Yeah. That's It just needs to be crucified. Crucified. It just needs to die. You can't cast the flesh out. Just sprinkle all the holy water on it you want. Which is why first John five twelve is so important. He who has the son has life. I have been bought at a price. The precious blood of Jesus. I gave him my heart. Yeah. But I saw how you treated that person in line at Smith just this morning. A Christian wouldn't do that. I have the son. I have life. I need to... Not... I might agree with you on that point, you old dirty devil. But even that point that you made is gonna draw me deeper into relationship with Jesus because I'm gonna go renew my mind. And we also shouldn't be satisfied. You hear what I'm saying and not what I'm not saying? We shouldn't be satisfied continuing to do the same things over and over in the same patterns and be like, well, you know, it's just in my mind I didn't get transformed. Whoops. You know, we should be like, God dang it. Like, Lord, you need to take that. Like, I don't wanna be that way anymore. Mhmm. You know, like, I think sometimes Christians can go too far the other way and be like, oh, cussed out the guy at Smiths. Whoops. You know, like like, that's... That ruins our witness if they don't see us being transformed. Like, yes, we mess up. So you go back into Smith's and you say, I'm a Christian. You might not have been able to tell from the words I just used at you. Would you please forgive me? I've literally done that. Oh, remember when I did that with the h two? Oh, that's right. The Hummer? That's right. If I must. That's a long time ago. Years ago. This is pre kids. We were married. And maybe you've heard me talk about my buddy, Dennis Roberts, and you'll meet him some... Tell the abbreviated version of that. We we... For Valentine's Day, the girls rented from here in town like a brand new... They are like those h two Hummer twos. They were like new at the time and like really exotic. It would be like renting a Tesla now. And so the... Rivia. Yeah. Rivia. The girls rented an h two and picked Dennis and I up and we were gonna go on a group date for Valentine's Day. We're gonna go up to Spring Creek and like make a dinner. They picked us up and we're like, woah, this is so cool. But the girls had to do some grocery shopping. So they said drop us off at the grocery store. We'll go in and get groceries. We'll be right back out. So Dennis and I are left with an h two and we jumped that thing and broke it. The front grill part thing broke it. And and we didn't tell the girls until later, like Valentine's Day was being ruined because we're just like, oh, we're like, here's a piece and the girls are like, oh. Kinda cast a pallor over that particular Valentine's Day. But the next morning, we had to return the Hummer. And so it was when the Kmart was here. So so Dennis and Aronica. Aronica went into k mart. She bought some super glue. This is before church, Sunday morning. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I wasn't there because I was leading worship. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. But I gotta fix this and make it right. So we got the super glue and we're super gluing the part and she set the bottle of super glue on the dash while she's getting ready. And what happened to the bottle of super glue? It and tipped started leaking super glue on the dash while we were trying to super glue the part back on. We come back in horror of horrors. Then we go back into kmart for black soup... Black shoe polish to rub over the dashboard and we return the rental car and the guy walked around and he's like, alright, looks good. Thanks a lot. We're like, have a nice day. Roger's appalled. My pastor. I I I didn't... I I think we made it. I think we made it. Yeah. We made it through church. Yeah. I built... And I said, I... We we have to go back. We have to go back. So long... The long story short is, I went back and I told the guy, hey, we jumped your car and we broke... Joe's like, on Turo, he's like, oh, I need to go look at every single We broke one of my license vehicles plate. We broke the... And I said, broke the part and we super glued it and you didn't see that. But, while we were super gluing it, super glue leaked all over the dash and then we wipe shoe polish on it and the and the guy's like, I can't believe it. I can't believe it. He goes, I can't believe that you told me. Nobody comes back and tells me. Don't cuss out the Smiths, the person at Smiths, if you're a Christian. If you're not a Christian, you can't blame a dog for barking. That's just what you do. You're lost. If you're a Christian and you cuss out the person at Smith's, Olivia Vedder, you will be convicted. I'm thinking of the least likely person in the room. Do you even know any cuss words? I'm just Move along. Once I said, shoot. But a Christian doesn't mean that you don't sin. A Christian means that you own it and you let that... My pride had to die. I've had to own lots and lots and lots of stuff. I'll tell you what too, if you listen You're gonna tell him me? Yeah. Well, I'm just... Here's another time, Brian. That reminds me. No. I'm just kidding. But when I've had to do that, I think that when you're obedient to the Lord and you do go and do the thing and and, you know, apologize or make it right, man, next time you go to open your mouth to do that thing, you're like, Like, do I really wanna have to go back and apologize again? You know? It's like God's perfect plan to hold us accountable to his ways. You know? It's just... It's a win win. That's right. That's good. Comes with a lot of conviction. And isn't it? And we have to be obedient to listen to it. Isn't it interesting how before a person gets saved, they don't have life, but they're living high on the hog. They think they're walking in tall cotton. Life is great. I get to do what I want, when I want, how I want it. On the on the... You Christians, you can't even break a rental car without having to go in. You're not supposed to cuss out the oh, man. But what they don't realize is those are just chains of death wrapping tighter and tighter and tighter. It is ob... What... Say your thing. Conviction. It's conviction of the Holy Spirit that brings freedom and true life, eternal life. You don't even know about it until you come to that place where you're willing to make the exchange. And this is where I've tried to like say like the big punch line like three times, but you guys have been so good about sharing your things. So I'm gonna try it one more time for For the Christian, death is not... Is in the rearview mirror. It's not on the windshield. If you're if you're lost, if you haven't had that exchange and experienced resurrection life, it's looming large for you. On the road ahead of you. But for any person that has made that exchange, they have died to themselves in order to receive the life of Jesus, you have experienced and are currently experiencing resurrection life, eternity right now. For the Christian, death is already done. Even if that means that your blood pump stops working before you experience the resurrection of the body. Now the resurrection of the body, I know that's what we're gonna cover. That's why we didn't get there today because we've just had so much ground. Let me see if I can on our team, Amanda, Joy, and Lisa, they're all really good. I like to have these like, you know, ideas for conversations and they're like, how's this help people Monday morning? So how does this help me Monday morning? Maybe today you find yourself in some sort of a circumstance where it feels as though it's about to die or there's no way out. The best thing that you could do might just be to let that thing die. Yeah. But I've worked so hard. Let it die. I have fought for so long. Let it die. But I've tried so hard. It just might need to die because that's the only chance you have for that situation, that thing, that relationship for it to be born again and experience resurrection. I keep trying to to tame my flesh and and and make it behave. Behave. Behave. It just needs to die. Last anecdote. I just pray that the Holy Spirit translates that to your circumstance. But I loved climbing, discovered climbing when I was growing up in the mountains of Colorado, and that was my God in my life and my identity. Eat, sleep, drink, breathe rock climbing. And I was presented with an opportunity to go live with a family that is now still... They're still like my mentors, Pat and Pam Prague. And they're wonderful family with two kids. And he invited us in and I said, okay. But I didn't know there was an exchange coming. He said, as long as you live with us after we're there for like three days. He was a Yosemite climbing guide, a flight for life ER nurse, like this guy was like mister outdoorsy and I was like, this will be great. I can talk climbing and things with him. Few days after I'd been there, he goes, show me all your climbing stuff. And a long story short, he said, take all your climbing stuff, put it in the closet, pack it away, and don't touch it as long as you live here. It has to die. And I thought I was gonna die. But it could never experience rebirth in a healthy form, in a healthy place in my heart unless it first died. Climbing was resurrected in my life. And I love climbing. And I go every chance I can but it is... It does not hold the same place in my life. But it never would have happened if I hadn't let it die. Is there a situation that maybe you're just... Your arms are worn out pumping CPR into this thing trying to keep it alive? The best thing that you can do might be to let it die. If it's your flesh, it should stay dead. If it's an... If it's something else, it's the only way that you as a Christian can experience resurrection. Just close our eyes. Lord, speak to us. Speak to us. If there's an area, not talking about our flesh, our flesh can... Well, even our flesh. Our flesh can die so that your life, noon life, resurrection life can be born again in our hearts. But maybe a situation, a circumstance, maybe a problem that we keep trying to figure out in our own resources. Maybe it's time for us to take our hands off and let it actually die. Make that exchange. Put it in his hands. He's the author of life. And he told Martha, and he told Mary, I am the resurrection. Speak to us. Jesus, point out in our hearts, any area of our life that we are... Just the picture that I get is, like, keep shocking it, keep hitting with the CPR. And as long as you're doing that, Jesus is like, how's that working out for you? You know I am the resurrection. When you get tired, let me know. Jesus, if there any area of our life or business or relationships or marriage or our health or our finances, Resurrection applies to all of the above. That you would tap us on the shoulder and just... And and whisper to us in your kind, loving way, let it die. Speak to us. Whisper that to us. We pray these things in Jesus' name. Amen. So just sitting there thinking as we as we close today, we're gonna leave and walk out of here in just a few minutes. But like we always say, please don't think these last few minutes are for nothing or or it's just something rote that we do. We do do it every time because we're only a family usually on this one time. But we need to worship the Lord in all of the forms through song, through worship, through obeying his word, through reading his word, through having a conversation. We also love him, say I trust you through the bringing of our tithe and our offering. And it's so important to do that. And I was just thinking, you know, maybe in light of what we talked about today, maybe you need to die to the way of thinking of that money that you make, that it's yours and you have total control over it. I mean, can you literally do that? Yeah, but it might not be what the... It might not be the Lord's best. If you think of your... When you make money, yes, it's you working hard for it. Who gave you the ability to have that job though? Who gave you the breath in your lungs to be able to do that job? It's the Lord. And we get to steward the money that he that he puts in our hands. We have the honor and the privilege of stewarding it. Sometimes we do it well, sometimes we do it poorly. But there's something something real spiritual and real special and unique about bringing our tithe and our offering to the Lord at church, our local church, if you call tribe home. If you don't, give to your local church. But it's just there's something real special and different than just like giving to charity or like giving money to a good cause. Those things are great and have their place. But there's something spiritual when you bring your tithe and your offering to the Lord. And what we read in scripture, there's... He puts his super on our natural act, and it's his anyway. Just get that through your mind. It's his anyway. We're stewarding it. Think about your kids that way too. This is real, real hard for us as parents. Those kids are actually the Lord's and we get to steward them for a season. Just kinda... I'm just encouraging you kinda shift your mindset when you think about bringing your tithe. Die to that old way of thinking that, oh, I'll put this here and I'll give this here and I'll give there. It's good to be organized and all that, but just, oh, just completely surrender and submit to the Lord when you think about your tithe and your... And off... A tithe is what you bring and offering is above and beyond that, something more. So, when you were just talking, Brian, I was thinking this resurrection principle is so beautiful and the principle exchange is so beautiful, and the Lord is just so faithful. And you know how... We did a whole series at Tribe, how fire can be destructive or fire can refine. And I was thinking of, like, sometimes in California or when you hear of... When you see like a whole hillside that's been burned, you're like, oh no. And sometimes it's a no no, but sometimes it's intentional. And they do that in a certain season so that new life can come forth in the spring. And it's the heat... I think I have this right. Fact check me since, Colin, you're the smartest in the whole room. It's the from the fire that opens a pine cone and releases the new seeds so that there can be life in the spring. A certain kind of pine cone. A certain kind of pine cone. So it's just a beautiful letting it die, that resurrection principle you can apply to every area of your life. So since we're talking about our tithe here in this last minute or two, I just... We're gonna pray together, so close your eyes. Just take a breath, posture your heart towards the Lord and just just tell him while I pray, kind of resubmit if you haven't in a while, resurrender to him your finances. Let's start to shift our minds the way that we think about the tithe. So as I pray, you just... You do whatever you need to say or do with the Lord and Holy Spirit. Just work on each one of our hearts individually. But as a tribe family, Lord, we just come to you and we say thank you for allowing us the honor and the privilege at the very basic level to have breath in our lungs so that we were able to get up and come today, or that we're able to have skills and the work of our hands and these jobs and professions that we're doing, Lord. We get to do those because you've given us the ability to do so. So we just resurrender and resubmit and say, first of all, thank you. Thank you for being the source of life. Thank you for the opportunity we have to practice surrender and practice this resurrection principle by just letting things that you say let die, die. So you can bring forth that new life in our area. So Lord, as we bring our tithe to you today, it's a form of worship. It's a way to say I love and I trust you. It's also a way to just show you with an act that's usually kind of challenging. To show you with that act that we love you so much, we're gonna let our thinking of where this money should go in our mind, where we think it needs to go, we're letting that die and we're completely, completely surrendering it to you. And boy, can you do so much with that. Not the number, not the amount that's being given, but with our hearts. When you fed in in the gospels, guys remember, Jesus, when you were feeding the 5,000, you didn't need the disciples. You didn't need the fish and the loaves, but you allowed us to be a part of it. You allowed your disciples to be a part of it, and I just love that about your character. You let us be a part. You're such a good dad. So we just surrender these finances to you whether we're giving now or another time. We just say they are yours. They are yours. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of it, to be able to see the miracles that come forth. The fruit that comes from bringing our tithe is ministry. It's more people to your kingdom. It's more people in this valley and beyond feeling loved on by you. So we thank you for that. In Jesus' name, we all say, amen. And if you're new, just a few ways that we give. Just give a couple dollars because it's not about the amount. We don't we don't care about the amount. That's between you and the Lord. It's about your heart and your posture. And I think it's more important than we think it is. A little bit of death a long way. Tribe, you belong here. I have so many t shirt ideas. A little bit of death goes a long way. Okay. And with that, I just have one quick announcement. So two quick announcements. Again, a Tuesday meal. If you come on Tuesday nights or you wanna provide a meal, we would love for you to do that. The second thing is this, if you are a high school student or if you know a high school student, I would encourage you to come to this building, the TMC, on Thursday nights at 06:30. It's not just tribe youth. It's multiple churches in The Valley and multiple leadership from The Valley. And they all just meet here in our building and have a meal, and then it has been an awesome, awesome time. We've heard lots of good reports and lots of kids are coming and us, excuse me, lots of students are coming. And it's a really good time.
