I just sounded like I was on a puppet show. Hi, friends. Today we're gonna talk about Jesus. We are though. I everybody's voice works this morning, so you have no excuse not to sing it out. Let me pray for us before we even begin. Lord, we just come before you with an expectancy today. I just sense just people coming in here today maybe burdened or heavy laden, but there is a hope rising. There's an expectancy of what you can do when we press into your presence. Literally, there's nothing impossible for you in this place. Whatever that thing is that has just dogged our heels for a long time, Lord, today is the day that if we allow you in, you can break bondages, break addiction, break those things off, Lord. You came so that we could have life and have life abundantly. So we just grab a hold of that today as we worship you. We just we step into this time of worship. One, because you're worthy. You deserve it. And two, because we're expected when we press into your presence, all things are possible. And that's where the battle is fought and where the battle is already won. If we stand in that place of victory. So we thank you today. We thank you for every precious heart in here. There is nobody in this room right now by accident. You see us right here, right now. Come meet us in Jesus' name. Amen. We're gonna sing this song called You Came and we did this one the first time for Easter and it always just brings back such a great memory. It makes me almost emotional because we met at the Center for the Arts for Easter that year and we had a packed house. I mean, was how many people like, 400 people and we were like a brand new church and it was so cool because other churches came after their early service and I mean, you name it. We had like like a flash mob prophetic dance that came out of the I mean, it was awesome. And I feel like sometimes I hear a certain song and I think it needs a sound or be a certain way because we had like super high production. And and then just this morning while we were singing it, I just felt like the Lord like I was trying to like get this full sound of it and I just felt like the Lord say, just stop and listen to the words. Just stop and listen to the words that when we press in, when we call out, he comes every time. And this song is just a thank you. The words are, you stood outside my grave with tears still on your face and it's technically the writer of it wrote it. It's a story of Lazarus, but really it applies to our life. Like, he stood outside of all of our graves. Right? Like before we like called, before he raised us to new life, like we were dead. We were literally dead, as dead as Lazarus, they said he. But Lord, he stinketh, I think it says in the King King James. Yeah. Okay. That's a fact check. And so this morning we just that's our heart when we come to worship is like we recognize that we were dead. Like dead in our sins, dead and that he rose us. So we just worship him in that. So we sing this to him. You stood outside my grave, wet tears still on your I'm not afraid I see your face I am alive you came oh yeah you did I knew that you would come yes lord. Just come in this place today. We invite you again fresh and new today. You said dance only sleeping with one word my haven't lied. You came. Oh, yeah. You did. I knew that you would come. Let's declare this together. You are because you are a You care. Oh, yeah. You did. I knew that you would come. You are. Because you are a miracle working God. You are. Miracle working God. You are. Do you need a miracle today? A miracle just press into his presence. Yeah. Afraid I see your face. I'm alive. You came. Oh, for me, yeah. I knew that you would come. One more time. You came. Oh, yeah. You did. Oh, it's in this place that we win all battles. It's in this place that we see real change. Come before you got. This is how I fight my battles. This is how I fight my battles. We pray this is how this is how I fight my as strong your blood declare that nothing is as strong as your love you believe that nothing is as strong as your So there's there's this, It's recorded in the Bible that whenever Israel, after they left Egypt and they were traveling through the wilderness, they were living in tents and they were going from place to place. Right? And there was the ark of the covenant that contained the 10 commandments, jar of manna, Moses' or Aaron's stick, and that was symbolic of the very presence of God. And it went in the middle of the camp wherever Israel traveled while they were in the desert. Whenever God would say it's time to break camp and move on their travel day, the day one of their travel day, Moses would stand out of what was called the tent of meeting. And he would say, may God arise and may her enemies be scattered. Israel's enemies, may they be scattered. As we move in this direction, God, go before us and scatter our enemies. And I feel like in a very real New Testament way, as we open up our mouths and sing this morning, maybe you've had a great week, maybe you've had a lousy week, but as we open up our mouths and sing and declare these words, watch as the enemy begins to scatter. And I don't wanna say that in a, like a, like a pep talk rah rah sort of way, but in a very real way. It's counterintuitive. How do we how does the world solve their problems? They tackle it. They worry about it. They they try to figure it out on their own. But what if breakthrough happened in our life by simply just singing praises to his name? How counterintuitive is that to the world? This is how we are called to fight our battles, with praise. So may God arise and may your enemies be scattered as we lift our voices this morning. God, we invite you. God arise and scatter all of our enemies that we've been facing, that have been docking our heels all week long. May God arise and may his enemies be scattered. Is as strong as your love. Nothing is as strong as your love. Lord, we just declare that in this place. We just declare that. Lord, you use every part of our life. We just have to worship you. We have to stand still sometimes. Even in the pressing, even in the crushing, we just worship. We just praise you, Lord. We don't have to figure it all out. You took care of it all on the cross. We just need to listen for your voice, be still before you, and be obedient to you. Do whatever you want in us today. That's our prayer. Make something new out of us, Lord. Replace all that old ways, those old ways of thinking, those old patterns, Lord, that are not of you. Just fill us with new wine today by your spirit. Give you permission today to change us, to pour into us. Yes, Lord. In the crushing Now surrender. You are breaking new ground. Let's sing that again in the crushing. In the crushing And trust you. Don't need to understand. Here's our prayer. Make me, make me a vessel. Make me an ir to gonna new wine in the soil, in the soil, surrender. You are breaking welcome. You're Jesus bring new wine out of me because where there is new wine there is new power today. Let's sing that again. Just just declare this over your life where there is, where there is new wine, there is new power, where there is freedom, And we're to Jesus, bring new wine out of me. Jesus, Jesus, bring new wine out of me. Well, that's our prayer today. Maybe while we're worshiping, the Lord's putting someone on your heart to share. Lord loves to speak through his body, his children, through his family, to exhort, to encourage, sometimes rebuke, sometimes challenge, convict. Lord, we invite you to come speak through us today. The Lord's putting something on your heart, I just encourage you to share it. We'll just be still before him for a moment and just step out and encourage. Maybe you're asking yourself, gosh, I've heard people do that before. They'll share something and I have had this thought bubbling up through worship. And I just remember thinking, well, there's one way to find out. I'll just say, maybe this is the Lord, maybe this for someone. So I just encourage you today. Based on what Brian shared, the Israelites, when they were moving, they had to move the tent before them. But God says, no. Today, I am before you personally. I know you personally. My heart hungers for you to be with me personally. You don't have to move as a group behind something. You move forward with him every moment of every day. It's beautiful. I'm gonna hand the mic to Lee. He's gonna share, but would that be alright if I come around and be your pastor personally for a moment and for the time that we have left in worship as we continue on. Would that be alright if I come around and just lay a hand on your shoulder, just pray for you? I might I might say something to you. I might just I'm for sure gonna pray for you, but maybe I'll have something to share with you. But I just wanna come around and pray and bless you. Okay? So I'm gonna do that while Lee shares his thing. The Holy Spirit is saying to us, this is a special day of divine encounters for each of us here. If we will accept, if we will enter in, there is a divine encounter that Jesus has for us. And I also wanna thank you, Jesus, for honoring us by by anointing our heads with oil and our cups into overflow with blessing. And surely, your love pursues us all the days of our life. Yes. Thank you, Jesus, for that promise. Thank you for that. Thank you. And we enter in to those encounters that you have for each of us individually and corporately today. Amen. Amen. I just feel like to share this while Lee and Colleen are sharing that just how special it is that they're here and if you come into this place today and you need someone to agree with you in prayer today, I'm just telling you like these two will war in the spirit for you from a place of victory and it's very special and you know, every time they're here in this place, I'm just for me in worship when they're here just it brings this flood of of just thankfulness to my heart and it's like my mom and dad are here and we and so it's just really special to me and, you know, when we stepped down from where we were serving before and didn't know what the Lord had for us, the Lord said, go do what I've called you to do, love, lead, and shepherd the people of this valley. And we're like, but Lord, but Lord, that building isn't an option anymore. And the Lord was like, like, what did I call you to? And so we're like, lead, love, and shepherd the people in this valley but but but but but but and he was just like, do that. Do that. Like, just do what I've called you to do. And so as we started this new work which is now looking like this, the Lord said, start this new work but you're not allowed to invite anyone. And Brian shared this a couple weeks ago, only people who ask you what the Lord might be calling you to, those are the ones to share with because we didn't wanna, you know, cause division or anything like that and there was one caveat to that. Lord said, but we said, we need spiritual covering, Lord. And so, the Lord put on our heart just like if we could have anyone anyone come with us for the circuit would be Lee and Colleen. So we called Lee and Colleen and we said, hey, so the Lord is do calling us to this new work is will you just pray whether he would call you to start this work with us right now in this season, we trust you. We know the Lord will speak to you. We want you where the Lord. And they called us back and said, nope, not right now. And that to us was such a testimony that they weren't just gonna relationally like be or do what, you know, we were asking of them and they said we don't feel released yet. Our assignment there is not yet done there. And man, I was like, that's why we asked them because they are so obedient and hear the voice of the Lord. Then it was maybe just a couple months later they called us and they were like, the Lord's released us and we're like and so to see them in this room and they really are called to be a spiritual authority to to speak wisdom and I'm I'm just saying, like, lean into that and I'm speaking for Lee and Colleen, but they would love nothing more than if you if you needed for them to pray for you today whenever they're here and normally they're gone for the winters but we get them all winter this year which is like a super special treat. So Lord, I just thank you for how you gather your people together for seasons, having Jay and Nina back and Carla Justin back and it's just so cool how you move and you work and you flow and we we want to sometimes in our flesh like make things happen but Lord your timing is always perfect. So Lord, what do you have for us in this new season? With Lee and Colleen here and our friends coming back into this valley, Lord, just make a new vessel out of us what we were last season. Lord, we just lay that down at the altar and we say, is your new assignment for me this season? What does it look like? Maybe I'm still working the same job, maybe I'm back at the village, but Lord, I know that you have a brand new assignment for me. I know you have new people that I'll be working with and engaging with. I know that you have new bosses and new surroundings for me, Lord. Show me in that. Show me in that how you're moving and working and what my assignment is. Because Lord, we know that that's how you move and work, like you have purpose in everything. You can use anything if we lean on you. So we might find ourselves in a job we're not sure like, oh, is this for me? The Lord is still moving and working through you if you surrender to him. Because he's faithful and he's sovereign and he loves those people around you and he loves you. So Lord as we sing this and as we pray this, we really truly mean this as like a laying down of whatever we think we are, whatever we think this next season is Lord. As best as we can just like show us what that looks like to ask you to make me a vessel. What does that actually look like? What do I need to lay down for you to really pour new wine into me? Maybe even right now he's bringing some things to mind that he's asking you to put aside maybe for a season, maybe it's not even something bad, it's just something that maybe the Lord's asking you to lay down to make room for what he's calling you to. Maybe it's just real obvious sin you're walking in and he's like, let's deal with that today. Let's not walk and wallow in that again. Let's move forward in that. Renee, did you have something? I knew it. Anyone else have something that they feel like the Lord's put on their heart? The mic, just so you know, is for our livestream people. You won't necessarily hear it in the room, but So I've been gone for a couple weeks because our daughter had RSV and she's four, so she's good now. But I went to livestream and this morning I was feeling extremely a lot of anxiety, what if they forgot about me? What if I'm not welcome anymore? And I'm like, maybe I just shouldn't go. I got my pellet stove on. It's nice and cozy. Cozy. And then I picked up my phone, and the last text I had had yesterday was from Lisa. And it was the first thing I saw when I turned on my phone. And I'm like, okay. I get it. And so, you know, I rallied the troops, and and we got here. And I was still I still had that anxiety coming in and up the stairs. But once I was in here, like, the fellowship for me is life. Like, I just this is is what feeds my soul is fellowship with other Christians and being able to sing to God and praise his name for everything that he's done and everything that he's gonna do. And I just felt so much relief coming into this space this morning that it just it went away. And and that song has been my like, my song for, like, the last three weeks. I found it on Amazon Music. It's on my playlist. You know? And and that is how I have fought my battles the last few weeks was with praise. And so I just you know, for anybody who's out there that has anxiety to come, God will take that away and use that, you know, to bring you to this space. And it will release, like, when you come in here, just the power of all of the love for Christ in this room will just make it go away. That's beautiful. That's beautiful. Well, the Lord hasn't forgotten you, Leah, and he never will even if I do. Forget to send you a text, like, know that. And it just says a testimony to that, I was up on the extension ladder when I sent that text and I was like as real as I could think, like the Holy Spirit said text Leah right now. And I was like, but I'm up on this extension ladder. And and I was like, okay, hold on. I was like balancing the nail gun. I was like, hey, Siri, text Leah. And so that testimony is not to how awesome Lysa is. That's the Lord has not forgotten about about you. He loves you. He's saying come. He's saying come. He's saying you're seen, you're not forgotten. So it's a testimony to the Lord. I just happened to hear it and I did stomp my feet for a second because I was like, forget if I wait, you know, I'll forget I'm on this extension line. Lord's like, oh, you can be obedient. You can be obedient or you cannot be obedient. Praise the Lord, he speaks to us. Jay? Yeah. I just wanna share that like my wife and I have been gone all summer and had been watching the livestream like Leah and just being back today. What a gift we have to be able to be here and, like, to be able to gather. And the fact that we have a pastor that wants to know our name and is going around praying and prophesying for us, and the fact that I can raise my hand and ask a question during the sermon and deal with my doubt and discuss with my other believers, like, don't take this for granted. Do not take this for granted. This is truly something special. PB always talks about how this looks so much more like what the church was supposed to be. And the fact that we have this community and this fellowship, like like, trying other churches over summer and, like like, there's just nothing like it. So, like, seriously, like, know what a gift this is. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Anybody else has something on the heart, Clay? So it's interesting listening to everyone talk this morning. You know, Brian talked about God scattering our enemies. Well, sometimes our enemies are staring us back in the mirror. Sometimes it's us. Sometimes we're our own worst enemy. But, what comes to mind and I I look around this room and I'm gosh, I'm just so blessed and tell you, you know, everything that everybody has said is is just a blessing, but I'm reminded of the holiday movie, It's a Wonderful Life. Gosh, we don't know how much we affect people indirectly, directly. Don't think that you've gotta do some mind blowing event. God is using you every day with all that you have no matter how great, no matter how small. He can take anything and bless it. Mhmm. Just understand that. It's gosh. Just we are so shortsighted when it comes to the awesomeness and how big our God is and how much you don't realize that you're affecting somebody else. Be willing to step out and make a mistake because you're gonna get better whether it's good or bad. And, you know, we need to realize that. We need to lift each other up. We need to praise. I love the fact that we're here today, and we're, you know, we we're just man, we're blessed. Yes. We are. Let's all realize how much we have in each other. That's right. You know, I'm a visual visual person. Person. So the minute he started talking about scattering your enemies, I don't know what call it my childhood brain, I guess. But there was a Dawn dishwashing commercial where it was gonna break up the grease, and that one drop and all the grease just started going Yeah. I visualize that with all the negative thoughts and the negative things that the enemy wants to put in our head. You know? And it's like, drop that drop of dawn in there and be it the Holy Spirit, of course, and just take authority over it because we do have that power. You know, scatter them. Get them out because that is our worst enemy in our brain is the the holder of that. So there's your visual for the day, a Dawn dish washing commercial. I used to try that as a kid when I'd see a commercial. Clay said something that made me realize I wanted to Come forward. Come stand right in VIP section. Gotta stand out of VIP section. Stand here. Stand here birthday boy. Don't sing yet. I was just checking in with Jeremy and and Lindsey back there, and we're talking about hunting this season, and and Matt's asked me to. I was like, oh, yeah. Like, you get them, you miss, take shots, and and I'd missed. And, you know, when you share vulnerable stuff with people and and kinda share the, you know, not that it's a big deal, but, you know, share misses. And I think that's a lesson for life. You know, Lindsay said, you know, you'll, you know, that's a lesson for next time. Like, God wants us to take shots and he has so much mercy and grace for every time. Every time that you miss, there's grace for more. So, I just wanted to call call everyone out to exhortation, whatever whatever you've been going for. If you missed success, like, God's got whatever you need to take that next shot. Sometimes I think God doesn't see it as a miss. Like, he doesn't we think, oh, I shot and that was my intention and I missed, I missed. I don't think the Lord sees it that way. He's like, good try. Good job. Take another shot. Like, let's do this. Like, that wasn't a miss. That was like your first step. Yes. Like, how well, you think you're gonna get a hit every time? Like, that's not how I grow character. Like, oh, sometimes. Sometimes he does, but I don't think he sees it as a miss. I think he goes, good job. Good job. You know, when you were saying that, Chris, I pictured Kai riding his bike down the driveway and when we they both got bikes sailing, Kai at the same time and we were at our Red House in Alpine. Had a really long, like, really rocky driveway and I thought this is a terrible, like road for a kid to learn to ride a bike on. And granted, Selah was like 16 older so she had more, you know, skill, physical skill. But they both got their bikes and they both got on their bikes and Selah was like, see you. Like blazes down the road and Kai just couldn't get any traction. I mean, he was just falling out falling out falling out and did we see that as a like failure? Heck no. I mean, Brian must have I don't know how many times, a 100 times where Kai thought he was riding that bike where Brian was holding the seat up and down with Selah up and down and that was a win. I mean, that was a win like and so I just am reminded of that. Like, don't think of it that Lord thinks you failed. He's just like, yeah, let's get up, let's do this, let's do it together. Lord, that's our prayer today. Would you just make us a vessel? Make us vessel. Bring new wine out of us. Let's just sing this one more time. Make me your vessel. Make me an offer. That's what it should be called. From far and wide, people have braved the winter weather conditions to gather, not to come to church, but to be the church. People from over the hill, Victor Driggs area, walking from the van that they're living in, just across the parking lot to get here, down near Pinedale from Blackfoot. Alpine. Wow. All of this not to come to church, but all of this to come together to be the church. Beautiful is that? What beautiful picture and you guys look beautiful this morning. Guys, today is week three of a series of conversations that we have been in about this topic of the resurrection. Talking about the resurrection, it feels like for for a Christian talking about the resurrection could feel like like maybe asking a fish to describe water. If you've grown up in the church, if you've been walking with Jesus for a while, you're like, yes, got it. The resurrection, foundation, cornerstone of my faith. But we used this scenario some weeks ago and we'll just bring it right back to life. Imagine sitting at Pikka's with a friend who has asked you like, you're a Christian, right? Yes. Yes. So you follow Jesus? Yes, I do. Hey, wanna ask you some questions about this Jesus guy and about the Christian faith. Okay. What do you got? Shoot. And they say, let's start with resurrection. Tell me, what does that mean? Does resurrection have to do with anything? If you're sitting across the table at Pikka's enjoying a marg, spicy marg if it's me, what would you say to them? It's something that's so common and foundational to us but what does it even really mean? Well we've had this is week three of a series of conversations that we're having about that topic of resurrection, what it means, and and most importantly, why should it be important and affect us today? And if you're new to Tribe or if you haven't been in a long time, I think maybe out of one of my ears, I heard Jay saying during worship, like, I love being able to be here to be the church so that I can ask a question, make a comment and a connection. And, this environment that we are meeting in, although it's not Center for the Arts with four thirty of us together, We couldn't do in the Center for the Arts what we can do here. So let's play to that strength. I want this to be a team effort. I want to hear from you. I want you to to to stop me and and ask questions. I want you to to make connections. I want you to to we want to hear your comments. And on Tuesday, I haven't I haven't said this before but I even like the faces that you make at me Because on Tuesday, there's a a brand new girl. I can't remember her name. It's a really interesting Bernadette. Bernadette was her name. So, if you go to Cowboy Coffee, you'll meet Bernadette. And, you can say, I heard you were making weird faces at old PB. But, she was sitting right there on Tuesday, around the front row. She hadn't been to church and she didn't even remember the last time she was at church. She was so engaged and I asked a question and she had some so we had a little back and forth moment and she was like, And I was like, I received that. Love you, Bernadette. But, when's the last time you ever got to sit in church and make faces at the pastor? Now warning, my is very fragile so just make nice faces at me, but I love the back and forth and the banter and the witty repartee that we can have and I really do want this to be conversational and you guys are so great at that. So, if you're thinking of like, man, I I kinda have this question but it might be so basic it's like, oh man. And so just be brave because if you're thinking of that question probably everybody else in the room is too but you get the credit for having the bravery to say, wait now, stop, hold on. Take another run at that PB, I'm not following you. So I want us, I want this to be a team effort, okay? Just wait for the microphone. That's a good point. And maybe somebody already explained it but we passed the mic around for those things for the benefit of our Livestream family. We have people that watch here in Jackson, the surrounding region and other states and around the world. And so, the microphone, the wireless mic, it doesn't amplify your voice in the room but it's picked up on the livestream for the benefit of people that watch the livestream and are part of discipleship campuses down in Bondurant and wherever you guys are watching. Hopefully, you all are staying warm down there today. Are we ready? This is week three of resurrection. And the first week, we talked about getting a new life when a person gets born again. Your mom and dad gave birth to you as flesh. The best kind of life that they could impart to you was physical life, and that's made up of two Greek, two two components that have Greek words. One of them is bios. It's where we get the word biology from. And if you have, you know, reproductive system, circulatory system, digestive system, bios life, we have that. The second kind of life that your parents gave to you when you were born is called tsuke life, where we get the word psychology from and that's where you have the ability to think, you have mind, will, emotions. So those two components make up what you would what the world would consider to be life. However, the truth is you're dead inside and you're not alive. But wait, I like I love waiting in line for first box up at the village. I love feeling the sun on my face when I'm floating on an inner tube down that snake river. I love riding my horse. I love mountain biking. I love ride like those things make me feel alive. They are fine and wonderful and they have their place but they do not have the capacity to give you a third component, the most critical component of life. And that's the kind of life that only God can impart. Remember what Jesus said? What is born of flesh is flesh, but you have to be born of flesh and of the spirit. God imparts Zoe life, z o e, Zoe life, And that is real, God given, eternal life. And it really takes a person inviting Jesus into their heart and receiving that Zoe life to be able to realize, oh my gosh, I thought I had been found but really all along I'd been lost. I thought I was alive but all this time I've been dead. Now I'm really alive. The Bible says that Jesus came to give us life to the fullest. So when we talk about resurrection, resurrection happens for each and every person whether you are eight, 18, or 80. The moment you invite Jesus into your heart, God imparts Zoey life and eternal life, a new life begins for you the moment that you get saved. And if there's anybody in here under the sound of my voice that has not invited Jesus into their heart, made that exchange because resurrection is all about a new beginning. Something has to die before it can be resurrected. You just have to die to your old self. As simple as that. Simple as that. And, invite Jesus into your heart and watch him give you new life. In first Corinthians, it says that, If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. We've actually become a new species when we get born again. So, week one, when it talked regarding this subject of resurrection, we talked about new life. Last week, we talked about a new body. If this is our earth suit that we get for this particular assignment for however long we're on this earth, if we have invited Jesus into our heart, one of the things that's going to happen when we get a new assignment is we get new equipment that is ideally suited for that new assignment. So last week we had a wonderful conversation on Sunday and on Tuesday about the new body that we get at the resurrection. A super suit. Honey, where's my super suit? I feel like some people Well, I don't know. It's just kind of fun. I feel like some people are just laughing at me. Other people know that reference. Y'all know what that reference is? Yes. Okay. Okay. Okay. Alright. Good. Good. Alright. Yes. You're with me. You're with me. When I'm looking for something, like whatever it is I'm missing, I always just insert super suit. So so when we get at the resurrection, we will get a new super suit that is ideally suited for the new assignment. Now, what is that new assignment? That's what we're gonna talk about today, but just one or two more things of review from last week. This super suit, according to scripture, the Bible says that we will have a body in similar kind to the resurrected body that Jesus has. He's the first fruits of the resurrection. So in a similar kind, we will have a body like Jesus. And then we just had a delightful time looking in the bible and wondering about different attributes of that new super suit. What were some that you can remember? What were some of those attributes? And if you don't have the mic you can just say it and then I'll reiterate it for the mic. Yes. Your super suit will be able to just appear. It has poofing ability. It can poof appear and it can poof disappear. Oh, okay. There is a hand. Well, would you talk into the mic, sir? Langdon. I don't really know if it's true or not because I wasn't here last week, but the ability to walk on water. Let's wonder about that for a moment. Collectively? Well, I am. So now so so now remember, let's yes. Let's wonder and just allow that to sink in. But we do need to hold that intention with the idea that our super suits will not be for novelty purposes. It's going to be utilitarian in its functionality, beautiful in its design. So, and we're gonna get into the new assignment, but there may be a necessity of the new assignment that would require that. And guess what? Well, looky here, I can walk on water because it's part of the new assignment. Like, that's really handy. Thank you Jesus for this super suit. The mic's gonna do you have something, Nina? Yeah. Was gonna say eating and drinking. Yes. Yes. Jesus, when he appeared to the disciples, he could eat and drink. He was tangible. Yeah, yep. Oh great. We met yes we mentioned that by way of referencing a a parable that Jesus told about the rich man and Lazarus. That the rich man who died and went to Hades could could look across the great uncrossable chasm, but he could recognize and and see Lazarus. If you could recognize somebody from this side of eternity, it only makes sense that you would be able to recognize somebody else. And we'll be able to recognize each other because although it took Jesus going like this, Mary, or breaking the bread a familiar action, the the disciples on the road to Emmaus were like, Jesus. Up up up. There he is. So if we can Just for clarification, this is all after his resurrection. After Jesus's resurrection. Correct. Correct. I think that there was it's not that he in form looked any different that would cause them to need to, like, recalibrate their log it into their brain like that is now Jesus. Okay. You're Jesus. Got it. Yes. I think they had no compartment or frame of reference for a person coming back to life. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Not many others would. Yeah. Yes. Right. Right. Chris Bates had his hand up back there. And then we're gonna talk about this idea of a new assignment. I have the mic, I I had the same answer as Nina but He has the same answer as Nina. Yep. Okay. Here this is gonna be fun. About eating food. About eating food. He he enjoyed the the broiled fish. Enjoyed the broiled fish. It's like we're in a foreign country. Yeah. I'm sure. I had something to to share about when he came back and his friends didn't recognize him but I lost it. I'll next thing Back around. Lost it too. So in in the book of Genesis, we see that that's recorded God called caused all of the animals in all of creation to pass in front of Adam and he named them. Now, I had a I had a grandmother who had three kids and and numerous grandkids and whenever Boo, who who who's what I call my grandmother, whenever Boo was mad at me, she would go down the list of all the kids and get to the grandkids, but then sometimes she would like trying to remember my name, but she would get on such a roll saying kids names that she'd like pass over my name and then like just go have to go around the horn and like come back to it. Dean, Beth, not Brian, Daniel, would you And so like like, you know, sometimes our brains leak and they forget and you know, we we have a finite amount of capacity. But imagine Adam being able to scientifically through taxonomy classify all of the animals in all of creation, giving them their names and putting them into families and organizing them. Adam was like before the fall. Just imagine how his brain worked. So imagine, along with our new super suit, the equipment, the software that goes along with this new hardware, it's gonna be pretty amazing. And it's gonna be required for the assignment that we will be given. And I'm interested to hear from you as we dive into this conversation. I'm interested to hear from you like, oh yeah, our church is taught all about this, the millennial reign of Jesus and what we'll be doing. But I would venture to say that many of you have never heard your church talk about this or heard your pastor talk about this, and so I understand that much of what we'll be covering today very well could be new ground for you. We're not reading new verses. The verses that we're going to be reading have always been in your Bible, but you've probably either thought of them or have been taught of to think of them in terms of spiritual or metaphysical or or maybe you know just kind of ethereal out there. You rule and reign with Jesus. That's right. So when I get a flat tire, wait I'm ruling and reigning with you, I'm not gonna let this flat tire get me down. I'm gonna have a good attitude about changing this flat tire. I'm ruling and reigning with Jesus. That's good that you've got a good attitude about a flat tire, but my request of you today is as we go through some of these, as we go through all of these verses, I encourage you and I invite you to look at them as a fulfillment, not just spiritually or ethereally, but a real, literal, physical fulfillment in the days to come. With that, let's turn to our first verse, Matthew chapter six. Today, there won't be a keynote on the screen. The best you can do will be to take a note on your phone or write these verses down. Many Sundays and Tuesdays when we gather, I'll have a keynote up here, but there's not one for today. So I encourage you write these down. With somebody with a mic, just read two verses, Matthew chapter six verse nine and ten. It's been in your Bible all along. Pray then in this way, our father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. There it is. May your kingdom come soon. Since we were like little kids in Sunday school, we've heard that prayer, memorized that prayer, or said that prayer. And, we've probably been taught, may your kingdom of love and forgiveness and justice just like be awesome. Like, heaven's a great place and it would be really cool if some of that leaked down into earth. But Jesus literally instructed his disciples to pray for the collision of the kingdom of God be manifested on planet earth. A system of government be established on planet Earth whose leader and head is Jesus. He told us to pray for his kingdom to come. And you might have thought, well Lord, help me to forgive somebody that wronged me in my heart and that your kingdom would come in my heart. It's yes and. I don't want to deemphasize the yes and how you've always thought of it, but I'm trying to stir you up to be able to see perhaps for the very first time it's yes and a coming, literal, physical, governmental rulership of Jesus on planet Earth. Now? I wonder who's ever pictured that in this room. Oh, that's a good question to ask. So the question is, it's a safe bet that we've all thought of praying Jesus, may your kingdom come in maybe a personal sense or in a restorative healing cathartic sense or or or you know like like people to just like more people to just recycle you know or something. May your kingdom come where you know we have we all have zero carbon footprint like just like in heaven wouldn't that be great? But how I'm curious, Lissa brought this question up. She's curious and I think it's a great question. How many of you would say I have read and thought of this verse in terms of like like an actual governmental leadership being established from Jerusalem on planet Earth? Anybody? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Again? Yeah. My hand is raised as of recently. Yeah. Wow. Wonderful. So many times no. Problem is so many times, especially young and growing up, we read that and was like, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, you know. Yeah. Put it up And on we don't stop and think about what we're reading. It's just like, let's just say the Lord's Prayer or John three sixteen. Yeah. And you gotta stop and and really realize what you're reading. That's my prayer for our time together today is that you would be arrested from the habit of just kind of ripping through this and being able to see it, that the Holy Spirit would illuminate the scripture, that it would come alive in your heart, you would be able to see it maybe even with fresh eyes for the very first time. Now let's read a little bit about this the inauguration of this coming kingdom and we get some beautiful glimpses of that in the book of Revelation. So, next place we're gonna turn is Revelation chapter 20. And, if you're new to Tribe and you're thinking, oh, is this one of those churches where they're like read the book of Revelation to oh. Well, you're here now. Just grin and bear it. Locked a door. No, not yet. Would somebody take a few verses and then pass the mic off? Let's start in verse one and we'll go all the way to verse 15. Revelation chapter 20 starting in verse one. Then, I saw an angel coming down from heaven with a key to the bottomless pit and a heavy chain in his hand. He seized the dragon, that old serpent who is the devil, Satan, and bound him in chains for a thousand years. The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he then shut and locked so Satan could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished. Afterward, he must be released for a little while. I have gigantic question marks in my bible. That's a series that pastor Amanda is going to tackle for us No, I in have the near questions. I don't know. Verse four, then I saw thrones and the people sitting on them had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again and Wait, what? And, they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. This is the first resurrection. The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years had ended. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. That's us. For them, the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and Christ will reign with them for a thousand years. Ruling and reigning. This is a passage that I just want to like a scenic turnout. It's like over like a Teton overlook. Revelation chapter 20 verse one through 15, the best that we can do is to just take the pull out for a moment. We're we're not gonna climb up into Garnet Canyon, up into the meadows, up to the caves, to the lower saddle, to the upper saddle, and thoroughly explore the Grand Teton of this passage. But I just want to point it out to you as a scenic overlook. This passage talks a lot about what's going to happen in what Christians call the millennium, the thousand year reign of Jesus on earth. If you are into theology, tribe holds the position of of a pre millenious position. There are some who would read passages in the Bible and interpret that to me, different eschatology like end times in the return of Jesus they would interpret that right now we are in the millennium the millennial reign of Jesus Tribe holds a position that we're pre there. We're not quite there yet, mostly because Jesus hasn't come back yet. We don't believe he's here because he ain't here yet. That's right. He can't be here ruling and reigning if he not back yet. That's a little problem. But I don't wanna make I don't wanna I don't want to I don't wanna make fun of that position because many many many many educated people they they stick their whole life on that. But read that passage. Chew on it. Consider it. And then and and we're going to go ahead. Well, one thing that I have thought about is there's like I there's really respected people that I listen to and on that one topic they would say like now is that time like where Jesus is ruling and reigning because he already defeated death and now we have the Holy Spirit. So it's like the Holy Spirit living through us. But then my question would be, and this is something I've thought through, is it's very specific. Why would the Lord put a thousand years? So there had to be I mean, we're now rolling into, you know, 2023. So to me, I would be like, interesting. Like, fact checking, like, well, then that thousand years had to have started at some point sooner than a thousand years ago if we're still currently in it. And I don't see anything, one, Jesus hasn't come back yet. But two, that would be my, oh yeah, like that doesn't seem to make sense to me. Only because of exactly what it says in his word. Things fit into that school of thought if you remove the necessity for a literal physical fulfillment of some of these things. If you if you only spiritualize the book of Revelation, it can fit quite nicely with a moderate amount of gymnastics. A day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day. Yeah. Yeah. And then and then and then and then things just begin to become immaterial and and and the more immaterial and the more spiritualized they get, the less practical and real that they get. Then my we're having a conversation now. Go ahead. Then my argument would be, well then, oh, that's dangerous because Jesus, you know, they he talked about he was gonna be raised on the third day. He actually was raised on the third day. Like, days and times, he actually can mean them. They matter. And they matter. Mhmm. And he tells us for a reason. Mhmm. Specific times. Right. You can write this down. Put them put these and sorry I don't have a keynote. Write these three things down and then we're gonna come back and just touch on each one individually. But write them all down first and then you can make some more space in your notes and come back. Three things that we're going to be involved in in with the millennial reign of Jesus on earth. We are going to help renew the earth. That sounds really cool. We're going to rule with Jesus. We're gonna talk about that. I needed a third r and if you have a better r word, let me know and we'll change it for Tuesday. But we are also going to referee the angels. We're going to renew the earth, we're going to rule with Jesus, and we are going to referee the angels. Why? She asks why. Why all three of those or why the refereeing of the Great question. Well, let's get there by way of talking about the first one. We're going to be involved in helping to renew the earth. It does make sense whether you're democrat, republican, whether you drive a big Dodge 2,500 Duramax or a Tesla, that All of us can the resources that we pull out of the ground on planet Earth are finite. There's not an endless nobody has found a plug in hose to planet Earth that's just pumping more resources into planet Earth. We're closed loop system here on this ball of dirt called Earth and if there's a finite amount of resources, it just makes sense to be good stewards of those resources, right? And I believe that in these in these last several decades of this this dramatic awareness of the depletion of important resources and and increased compassion for the planet that we live on, I believe that's actually a gift from God that was planted in us about our assignment that we're gonna have. We love we love to make old things new and beautiful again. Whether whether you whether you're a groomer out at the village and they've just skeed it and messed it all up, you get to renew it at night. You know that night crew coming through laying down that fresh corduroy at night Or if you like to sand the rust off something. Or if you like to repurpose something. Or if you like to fix up old cars. Or if you like to take something that was battered and beaten up and just give it new life. That's in us. Part of our assignment is to renew the earth. Let's read about it in the Bible. Would somebody please turn to Romans eight? We're gonna read verses 18 through 25 and that mic will come around to you. Romans eight eighteen through 25. With our new assignment, we're gonna be involved in three things. The first one is renewing the earth. We will help Jesus renew the earth. It's crazy. It's crazy. I almost picked on Justice to read. He made eye contact with the teacher at go ahead, Justice. Wait, drop the hook. I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. The creation was subjected. Verse 19, for all of creation is waiting eagerly for that future, literal future day when God will reveal who his children really are. And how's he gonna do that? Super suits. Okay. For the creation was subjected to futility not of its own not of its own will, but by the will of him who subjected it in hope. Because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God. Pause. Creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from decay and death. A rebirth of creation, a renewal of the earth. Keep going. We veiled together until now and not only the creation, but we ourselves who have first fruits of the spirit groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. Our physical bodies. Guys, it's been in your bible this whole time. How cool. For in this hope, we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For hopes for what he sees, but if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Patient, eager, expectant for our resurrected bodies to accompany the new assignment that we will be given. Wow. Let's go let's go right to another verse. Hang a left and we'll go to the book of Isaiah. So in that passage in Romans, we can see that even creation itself groans longing for redemption. Where the greed of I mean, it's it's in a way, it's the story of the Lorax. Man's greed and pride and insatiable quest for security and superiority rapes the land. But wrong things we get to help make right. Isaiah 11 verse one through nine. And I feel like all of Jackson would like that part of the message. Isaiah what? Isaiah eleven one through nine. Oh, I think I see Justice's hand. Poor Justice. He's not a really good analogist. What version do you guys read? Many of us read. I read from the New Living Translation, but you just let it rip from what you got. Alright. One to what? Isaiah eleven one through nine. Sweet. A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse. From his roots, a branch will bear fruit. The spirit of the Lord will rest on him. The spirit of wisdom and of understanding. The spirit of counsel and of might. The spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord. He will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes or decide by what he hears with his ears. But with righteousness, he will judge the needy. With justice, he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth. With the breath of his lips, will he slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness is sash around his waist. The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together and a little child will lead them. Let's pause right there. Maybe you read you've read this at Christmas time, maybe. And you're like, oh, yeah, baby Jesus. And, like, it's great. He lived 33 and and he established the kingdom of God on earth in the hearts of men. And now we can have peace with the warring factions of our soul and have inner harmony and unity and in whatever situation in our jobs and in our work and sphere of influence what's in us gets to splash out onto others and and and that's how the kingdom of God advances. Yes and. Yes and. This guy is going to be such a boss that we will help to renew the earth in such a manner, shape, form, or fashion that a child will be able to play tiddlywinks at the mouth of the den of cobras and lions will lie down with them. Harmony. Physical. Who is this guy? Yes and. Okay. Let's keep reading Justice. You're doing great. The cow will feed with the bear. Their young will lie down together. And the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra's den. And the young child will put its hand into the viper's nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Woah. In that day, the root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples. The nations will rally to him and his resting place will be glorious. In that day, the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of the people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia. And we're good. I mean, was so good, Justice. Cool. I was like, hear the word of the Lord. See. When you go when you you're like, okay, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, first Kings, second Corinthians, second Chronicles, first Samuel, second Samuel, like, I kinda get those, like, history books. Okay. But, there's a big old chunk of my Bible where, kinda like the face you just made at me, one eyebrow raises up. One eyebrow raises up and you're like, what what is all of what is all of this? You know, the major prophets, the minor prophets. Yes. They were called to bring a clarion call and word of direction for Israel in those days, but there is an addition it's yes and an additional literal fulfillment for the days to come. If I could equip you or give you one pro tip on how to read the major and minor prophets, do you mostly know what I'm talking about? Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Daniel, Hosea, you know, Anya Samba, no, no, Try putting on the glasses of a coming literal establishment of the kingdom of God chiefly administered by Jesus on planet Earth in the days ahead, and see if that doesn't help you go, woah. If this doesn't have a literal fulfillment, a, how is it fulfilled and b, why put it in there? Part of our assignment will be to help renew the earth. I got a few more verses. Part of renewing the earth, let me just read two to you, but I'll give you the address so you can write it down. Isaiah 61 verse four. Oh, raise you. Isaiah 61 verse four. It says, they and for you, you need to zoom around to to get better context because if I only read they, you don't you don't quite have the context and it's reasonable for you to ask in your mind, wait, who's they? Who are you talking about, PB? So read the context, but you will see they being God's holy people, the anointed ones. Some translations read the saints, so they is us. They will rebuild the ancient ruins, repairing cities destroyed long ago. They will revive them. Imagine being able to redesign the architecture of systems of government around the planet Earth in accordance with the core values of the kingdom of God. Where the poor would be adequately taken care of and exploited. Orphans and widows, will we have orphans and widows in the millennial kingdom? Yes, yes. But imagine a system of justice that's like, in a system of government that's like, makes a lot of sense. That's pretty good. Think of, I mean we all, I think all of us grew up here in The United States, And and despite what you may think of the current state of this democratic republic, in principle and idea, there has never been a system of government like this in the history of all the governments of all the world. It's pretty freaking awesome. Can we say that on the livestream? I said it. Too late. We will rebuild the ancient ruins. Keep go back to the left a little bit, Isaiah 58. The Lord will eleven and twelve. Isaiah 58, eleven and twelve. The Lord will guide you continually. It's yes and. Yes in a spiritual and real sense for your life today. And with our new life and our new bodies part of this new assignment will be helping him to to rule and reign which we're going to cover in a second but we'll be he'll be guiding us. Imagine being able to maybe poof into Jerusalem or Jesus poofs into your administrative office where you're a regional satrap or ambassador or something and he's like hey here's what I'm thinking that the city of Jackson Hole would would help to renew here's how you can help renew the earth in Jackson Hole this coming this coming quarter? What about what do you have? Well, I'm thinking about this project. I'm thinking about this project. Oh, that's really good. Now, let me give you some some guidance. Let me help you with that. Wow, that's really good. Thank you Jesus. Okay, gotta go poof. And then you're like poof over to City Hall. And then you're like poof bottom of the tram. Line's too long. Poof top of the tram. He'll guide you continually giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. He's gonna be our source of sustenance. We can eat, but he'll be our source of strength and sustenance and vitality. You will be like a well watered garden like an ever flowing spring. Some of you some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes. Everyone will have a noble purpose. Whether you're swinging a holy hammer or you're at the at the divine drafting table. You will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes. That Hebrew word for homes is where we also get the Hebrew word and and our contemporary understanding of dwelling. Dwelling can be a noun, a dwelling, and it can also be a verb to dwell. And so part of our assignment is going to, as we renew the earth, will be to wherever we go, whatever we're doing, the rebuilding of walls and our restorer of homes is to perpetuate the core values of the kingdom that create an environment where Jesus himself can feel welcome and dwell. Remain, abide his presence thoroughly and richly there. Another verse. Ezekiel 39. And I apologize for not having these up on the screen, but please write these down. And if you ask me sweetly, I'll just give you a copy of my notes when we're done. Like, I want these. Not because my preaching is great, but because they have the verses on them. Just tell me. Give me that. Ezekiel 39 starting in verse nine, let me read through to verse 16. Then the people in the towns of Israel will go out and pick up your small and large shields, bows, and arrows. Let me give you a quick background. Some context here. This is after the battle of Armageddon where where Gog who is an Old Testament version of what we are going to encounter someday as the person of the Antichrist. He calls him Gog in the Old Testament. We know him not yet having literally physically experienced him, but through scripture we know him as the Antichrist. The armies of the Antichrist will be defeated when Jesus returns just before the millennial reign starts. Are you with me? Yes. Clear as mud. Right? Yeah. Come on. Let's go. Ezekiel 39 verse nine. Both. So so so it is a a name. I should say this. It is a name for the Antichrist. So when Ezekiel was writing these words fifteen hundred years ago, in his vernacular or lexicon of words that he could pull from, the Antichrist wasn't there. That name was not there. It wasn't introduced until later. So Ezekiel's looking forward, we're looking back, but the appearing of the Antichrist is we're still looking forward to. Yeah? Here we go. Verse nine, Then the people in the towns of Israel will go out and pick up your small and large shields. This is after Jesus comes back and smashes the army of the Antichrist after he's rescued and ransomed Israel and leading her in triumphal procession up from the desert back to Jerusalem after the battle. Then the people will, in the towns of Israel, go out and pick up your small and large shields, bows and arrows, javelins and spears, and they will use them for fuel recycling. There will be enough to last them for seven years, economy of use of resources. They won't need to cut wood from the fields or forests for these weapons will give them all the fuel that they need. They will plunder those who planned to plunder them, and they will rob those who planned to rob them, says the Sovereign Lord. I will make a vast graveyard for Gog and his hordes in the valley of travelers East of the Dead Sea. It will block the way of those who travel there, and they will change the name of the place to the Valley Of Gog's hordes. Will take think about renewing. It will take seven months for the people of Israel to bury the bodies and cleanse the land. Everyone in Israel will help for it will be a glorious victory for Israel when I demonstrate my glory on that day. That phrase on that day, that should trigger, you should see in your mind's eye a hyperlink that if you clicked on it, it would take you to all those different passages forwards and backwards in that day. The day of the Lord, the great and terrible day, the awesome day of the Lord. That that's all reference to end time themes and motifs in that day. Whenever you hear that phrase in that day, think end times. In that day, I lost my place. On that day, says the sovereign Lord, after seven months, teams of men will be appointed to search the land for skeletons to bury so that the land will be made clean again. That could be in reference to Jewish rights of like, know, you're not supposed to touch dead things, dead people, which like in general is probably not a good idea, is a good idea not to touch dead people. But there could be radioactive contamination. I don't know. I don't know. Whenever bones are found, a marker will be set up so the burial crews will take them to be buried. In the Valley Of Gog's hordes, There will be a town there named Hamonah, which means hoard. And so the land will finally be cleansed. Part of our new assignment. I mean, I hope I'm not on like body identification recovery detail. I don't know. I'll be psyched whatever it is I get, but remember when we get a new body we get a new assignment. Part of that new assignment includes renewing the earth. Think of being able to partner with Jesus to return earth back to its Edenic state. Yes, sir. I think seeing those skeletons, like, after that long while, I think that those skeletons in itself would be terrifying to look at. Yeah. Right? Mhmm. I mean, I I can't imagine what that would look like. And I don't really want to. So Right. In in your situation I love that you're you're activating your imagination to consider what the bible is saying right there. Pleasant or not. Maybe part of the new upgrade to equipment comes Yeah. No fear or ability to be like but Finally crushed that spider. Finally crushed that spider. We can help you with that on this side of Oh, there's a there's a a text message that came in from somebody that's watching at watching at a discipleship campus. Let me answer this. Will there be no guns and ammo? Let me let me finish reading this privately first. Oh, okay. Great question. Great question. Will there be no guns and ammo or will something happen between now and that battle that we will revert back to spears and bows and arrows? Beautiful question. Great question. I didn't even think of that. Great question. Great question. Alright. Or was that just the name they had for weapons then? Question. If they said guns because they didn't exist. I know. Let's see. Let's see how it plays out. Guys, I don't wanna wear you out. We were only gonna cover three things. Renewing the earth, ruling with Jesus, and then refereeing the angels. We got To one. We got to one. It's important. So we'll just catch these Next week. Next week and we got holidays coming up and so just just like try to try to hold this phone up in your mind best you can and At least through. Well, know. I won't. I'll only do one so that we can all be together. But just think of this idea of renewing the earth. Let's land the plane here. In the same way that in Romans chapter 12 verse two, it says, do not be conformed any longer to the patterns of this world, but instead be transformed by the what? Renewing. Renewing of your mind. Guys, that's why this is important now because this is a foretaste. This is a practice run. This is an apprenticeship for what we'll be doing on a national, a local national, and perhaps some of us may even be involved at an international level. Renewing the earth. And how can we be involved and have any kind of expertise or speak with authority about renewing the earth if we took this 82 year old inch internship that we're in and never bothered to renew our own minds. Can you see why this stuff matters now? Because we're gonna need to call upon that in the days ahead. Well done, good and faithful servant. You've been faithful with the 10 coins that I've entrusted you. What does he say as your reward? I'll give you what? That's right. 10 cities to be in charge of. And could that mean, like, not necessarily just sounds like a wonder question. Yeah. Like, I mean, I'm thinking, how does this apply to me? Like, I'm it doesn't mean I need to recycle more. I mean, I can do my part, but whatever. But what I've been given now as my assignment Lord, do you wanna give us a Tesla? Yeah. Be fun. But, like, what what did we do with this current assignment? Like, if we don't take seriously what the Lord has, like, put at our hands now, like, how will we be able to, like, go do some, you know, crazy assignment? We'll still have free will, right, in the millennial millennial reign? Reign? Well, certainly. We can still, like, we need to build grit now for obedience of what the Lord's called us to on this side, you know, as the application for why does this matter, what my next assignment is gonna be like. And I think it's twofold. I think it's that, but I also think, yes, we have a new assignment. The Lord has given us an assignment here. And, obviously, that assignment is to look like his hands and feet. So if we look like his hands and feet, the more people will wanna know who this Jesus is that we serve before that time so that they can be there as well, poofing around in their new assignment. You know, if we're not doing our assignment, then why is anyone drawn to this whole deal in us? The disciples and those around Jesus had a clear understanding of the coming kingdom. They asked, like, wait, you're okay. So you're alive. You're poofing around. You're eating grilled fish. Is is now the time when you're going to establish your kingdom? Kick out the Romans. And he's like, If you're faithful in the little, you can be trusted with much. And Peter, who spent a lot of time around Jesus, said, that's why I consider all that I'm going through light momentary affliction. It's just training for raining. Two t shirts It's in with that. Poofing around is my new we're that. To We're Fill us with a vision of the future that calibrates our attitudes and our actions and orients our whole life towards the future. Even in a moment when Amanda comes to lead us in receiving tithes and offerings, like even our finances, we're gonna be trusted with budgets because you can't have administration without production and means of production is often accomplished through the exchange of goods and services and currency. I don't know what that's gonna look like. True bucks or or, like, what's the economy gonna be? Sorry for making that dumb joke in the middle of a prayer, but it does relate to our finances. We wanna be good stewards of all of the resources including our finances. All the money that's in our bank account, it has our name on it, but it's actually yours. Just speak to us. Sing for us. Just sing over us as we soak in this maybe new understanding. Jesus. Wanna keep your eyes closed, that's fine. You can open them, of course. But remain in this attitude of worship. We're finishing service here, but we when we bring our tithe and our offering to the Lord, there is something so special. Stewardship is a big deal. And we just we barely touched on it today, but stewardship is huge to the Lord. And the money that we have that we work hard to get, that's money that we've earned fairly. But man, it's all his. The breath in our lungs at this very moment is a gift from him. So I want us to see our finances in that way. Our children oh, this is a hard one for this mama to swallow. Our children are something that we get to steward for a season. But they're his. It's his anyway. And so I would even argue, I didn't run this by Brian theologically, but I would even argue that tithing, when we bring our tithe, it's different from generosity. When you bring your tithe to the Lord, what scripture instructs us to do, it's not generous. Now our offering above and beyond our tithe is is generosity. And when we give to local charities and all that, that's generosity. But our tithe is much deeper than a Sunday check or check the box or a literal check. It's much deeper than it's just something you do. I don't even think of it as much as like earth tax or I give so nothing bad will happen to me and God's not a mob boss. Right? I give to keep myself I mean, like, some people think that. You don't give for that reason. It's much deeper. Tithing to the Lord is about honor and respect and saying, God, I trust you enough to give this to you when I feel like I need it. So it's much deeper. So as we bring our tithe every single week and whether you do it here at service or on your own rhythm, I don't do it when I'm here on Sunday, I do it when I get paid. Whatever your rhythm is, doesn't matter. The amount that you give is between you and the Lord, but just think of your tithe as about honor and obedience to Lord. It's a great way to practice stewardship like we were talking about today. Your tithe is a constant rhythm of stewardship practice. Man, what a good way to build that muscle as we prepare for other things as well. So practically speaking here at Tribe, you can give cash or check-in that little black box downstairs. You can also give through a web site at any time, but the easiest way is through your smartphone. You just start a new number and you'll see the instructions on the screen to 84321, and then you just type in the amount you wanna give. If it's your very first time, it'll give you some quick and easy instructions. But it's so easy to give that way. And we do want you to be generous, of course, above and beyond. But just think about your tithe as honor and respect. It's something that we're being obedient to the Lord in. And so, man, just separate that in your mind. It's real important. Man, the Lord honors obedience. He's so, so faithful. So whether you're giving now or another time, let's close our eyes and just pray as a as a family here together today. Heavenly Father, we just come to you and say, man, thank you for letting us steward so many gifts. As our conversation went today about the millennial reign, you could simply return and snap and it would be a restored Eden immediately. But you allow us to partner with you in the restoration of all things. That's important. And that reflects your character and we say thank you. Man, we get an opportunity and we thank you for it each week to practice stewardship by bringing our tithe and above and beyond our offering, Lord, to just say, it's yours anyway. Thank you, Father. I pray that, every single penny that comes in will go to do the work that you want it to do. Thank you that we here at Tribe and all your local church, this is the broken, non perfect bride that you're returning to. You are remaining faithful to us as the local church all over the globe, and so we remain faithful to you. We bring our tithe and our offering. We say thank you today. In Jesus' name, amen. Just regular breakfast food, but we're gonna do a family style to celebrate Thanksgiving here at 10:00. So same time come, but it'll just be a little bit different. We won't be livestreaming. It'll just be family around the table. And then the same thing on Tuesday night, but since it's the evening, we will have a Thanksgiving meal this not in a few days, but next week.
