The message in order, in a few minutes of reading.
This was week four of Brian's slow walk through a single verse, Psalms 37:34, which Tribe has been sitting with since the beginning of January. The service opened with extended worship, congregational sharing, and prayer ministry before the message, so what Brian taught was woven through with the room's own voices. The central question was what it actually means to wait on God, grab hold of his promises, and trust that the enemy's foothold in your life can be permanently cut off.
What was said
Brian opened by setting a scene from Luke 8. The crowds who welcomed Jesus back across the lake were not just excited fans. They had arranged their lives to be on the shore when he arrived, knowing what kind of man this was. Someone who had just ruined a funeral by raising a dead boy, stilled a storm that terrified his own disciples, and destroyed an entire local economy by setting a demoniac free. Brian held that image up as a question for the room: when Jesus sets foot on the lakeshore of your heart, are you waiting eagerly, or just letting him walk past like anyone else?
He then returned to the Hebrew behind four phrases in Psalms 37:34. The first, put your hope, carries a picture of rope being braided or twisted together, not passive wishing but an entwining of your life with God's. The second, travel steady, means to watch, wait, and position yourself on an intercept course, the same readiness those crowds on the shore had shown. The third, his path, is not only the road from A to B but the manner in which God travels, which almost never runs straight and often goes by way of letters you did not expect.
The phrase he will honor you drew on the principle of first mention. The same Hebrew word appears in Genesis 7, where the floodwaters lifted Noah's ark up and separated it from everything corrupt on the ground. Brian said God's way of honoring is often buoyancy through tribulation, not rescue from it. In the valley of trouble, Hosea 2:15 promises a door of hope, a resource that can only be appreciated inside the difficulty, not dropped in from outside it.
Giving you, the next phrase, does include the idea of a good father handing gifts to his children, but the Hebrew also carries the sense of taking possession, occupying territory, fighting for it. Brian held that alongside the promise. God said to Joshua, I am giving you the land, and he meant it, but Joshua still had to fight for every acre. The promises of God, Brian said, are always guaranteed but not all automatic. There is a partnership, a grabbing hold, and sometimes the path toward the promise goes in a direction you did not anticipate.
The final phrase, you will see the wicked destroyed, uses the same Hebrew word found in Genesis 9 when God promised that all flesh would never again be cut off by a flood. Destroyed here means cut off, removed, gone. Brian pressed the room not to be counted among the wicked when that cutting-off comes, pointing to Korah's rebellion as an example of God calling people to separate themselves from sin before judgment arrives. He framed the prayer of the heart as asking God to honor us by separating us from our own sin so we can see it clearly.
Brian closed by connecting all of this to how a person actually walks it out, through surrender at salvation, through water baptism as a picture of dying to the old life, and through the power of the Holy Spirit to live the new one. He described the gift of praying in tongues as a prayer language that bypasses the intellect and goes spirit to spirit with God, and encouraged anyone who had never tried it to start in English, in adoration, and let it move from there. Tim followed with a similar invitation, and Lee and Colleen offered to pray with anyone in the room who wanted to pursue that for the first time.

If a picture, memory, or hurt surfaced during prayer this morning, write it down and ask the Holy Spirit whether there is something He wants to address in you.
If you have been carrying a weakness, fear, or sin in private, confess it to a trusted brother or sister this week, remembering that Brian said something supernatural breaks off when we share rather than hide.
Spend time this week starting your prayer in English thanksgiving and adoration, then let it move wherever the Holy Spirit takes it, including into a prayer language if that is something you want to pursue.
If you feel like an area of your life is under enemy occupation, serve that eviction notice this week by naming it before the Lord and asking Him to separate you from it the way the floodwaters lifted the ark.

Brian described the difference between the logos of God staying in your head and the rhema of God taking root in your heart, and he compared it to an apple seed sitting on a counter versus being planted in the ground. Where have you experienced that shift personally, and what brought it about?

I know it will. Let's stand together this morning. Okay. Let's pray. Lord, we come before you today.
We tell you that we're here to meet with you. And Lord, we just position our hearts right now and our minds to hear from you today. We just say come, come Holy Spirit. Change us, touch us, search our hearts, convict us where we need it, wrap your arms around us where we need to feel you close. You know every single heart, you know every single life in this room right now.
We just take our hands and we just open up to what you have for us today. We just pray against anything else that would come into this room today, any spirit that's not of your spirit, any fear, any condemnation. We just say there's no place for you here today, but holy spirit come. Come and do what you do best, change us. Reveal to us more and more who you truly are.
Refine us. Tell you we love you this morning. Thank you that you came for each and every one of us, each and every one of us, those that are feel like we're snuggled up in your lap right now this morning and those that are running with all they got to run from your love today. You came for every single one of us. Let us stop running.
Let us turn our eyes and our focus and our attention on you. Let us lay aside distractions today. We give you everything. We just remind ourselves this morning before we even chose you, you chose us. You chose us.
We're chosen by you. Just think about that for a moment, that you were chosen by the creator of heaven and earth. He's been singing over you and speaking life over you since before you were even born today. Come meet with us. Come meet with us today in Jesus name.
We long for you. Before I spoke a word, you were singing of me. Just think about these words. You have been so, so good knock down any wall. Just

We give you permission. Light up those dark places today that we just wouldn't see otherwise unless your holy spirit came and just shone a floodlight on it. Do that today. We can't know what we don't know. Holy Spirit reveal to us.
Reveal to us our blind spots today. Fear, shame, and selfishness. Whatever it is, god, reveal it to us. Let us surrender it to you. In your kindness, in your goodness, lead us to repentance today.

Before we sang that song, was supposed to speak up and I didn't because it just seemed too simple. I was just supposed to say that your grace is good, and your love is good, and your kindness is good, and your justice is good. And it just seemed too simple to just say those words, but I think that God just wants to remind us that his goodness is sufficient. His goodness reigns. So, God, we just thank you for your goodness.
Thank you for your grace, your mercy, your kindness, your love, your justice. Everything about you is perfection. And when we go through trials, it's not always easy to see the goodness. So we just declare that you are good.
So driving to church this morning, I was praying and I was just asking God, how how can I get to that next I'm 'm sure if sure maybe time to open the closet and clean out some closets of of things that I'm holding on to that's preventing me to get from getting there? I don't know. I've just been I've really been struggling with it lately just trying to feel like I'm I'm complete. And, yeah, I think I have some things that I need to lay before God and surrender to him.
Chris, will you pray into that in the mic? Put your hand on Clay because I know that pertains to a a lot of us.
Lord, thank you for brother Clay and everything that he brings to your body here in Jackson Hole and the church worldwide. I pray completeness over him, Jesus, that you've made him whole and you've made him a new creation, that you've taken the step towards him. Now he's willing to take the step towards you. Let go of what he's holding on to that would prevent any level of intimacy that he that you want with him already. He wants it with you.
Here's heart, Lord. Thank you so much for his vulnerability and his willingness to bring his life before you and kneel at the cross. Lay it down. Just take whatever he has. You've already won that war.
Give him peace, Jesus. Mhmm. I pray completeness over clay today for eternity. Amen.

You know, it's remembering that he's everything. We're complete in him. Yeah.
In the name of Jesus, in unity, one voice, we call into the light the strongholds that keep each of us in some measure of bondage. Right now, holy spirit, bring it up into the light of our minds, of our hearts, of our consciousness. We expose those areas that need to be submitted more complete. We sang this morning, Jesus, I give my life to you completely, but there are hindrances. We break the power of that hinders hindrances.
Those hindrances in Jesus' name. And say, holy spirit, come into those areas, those recesses, those those hidden areas in the rooms in in our mind. Open up the door. Let the light, the presence, the power, and the love of Jesus Christ bask. Completely illuminate those areas.
We thank you for that. We thank you for the freedom that you're giving us right now, right now, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Amen. I just wanna encourage you. Lee and Colleen do amazing prayer counseling, and one of the ways that it works is when you surrender to the Holy Spirit and they pray with you and over you, and the Holy Spirit may just reveal a picture or a scenario to you and it you it might be easy for you to just like, that was just my mind bringing that thing up. But I encourage you, if while Lee was praying that and I'm speaking for myself, something came up and I was like, is there still something there I need to work through? And so if if a picture or a mind or a moment or a hurt or something popped in your mind while he said that, write that down or just take it before the Lord right now and just say, Holy Spirit, is there something there?
What do you wanna show me in my mind? Is that you? Was that you that revealed that thing to me? And if you feel like, yeah, then say, what do you wanna do with it? What do you wanna do with it?
I'll just give you an example. At one point in my life, someone handed me an envelope and in front of other people, it was as if there was something in it, but that when I got in the in private, there was nothing in the envelope. And I've like dealt with that, but that picture came up to me. And I think that they're like I feel like what the Holy Spirit was showing me, I'm just using this as an example, is there still issues of trust that what someone's saying in front of people, don't really think when they walk away from me. You know, like, oh, that's easy to say to my face, but is that really is you really feel that way, you know?
So I feel like the Holy Spirit saying, how I feel about you is all you need to care about. Are you and I good? So let's just take a minute. Let's not skip by that. If the Holy Spirit showed you something, just take a second and just in your heart, ask him, is there something that you wanna deal with?
Is there something you wanna deal with, Lord? If so, what is it? Because your holy spirit reveals and heals in a way that no self help book, no kind of counseling can do your holy spirit, your great counselor.
So, Lyssa and I have been jumping around in Mark and in Luke, and we read this story in Mark recently. And there's a detail in Luke chapter eight that's really cool. And it says, on the other side of the lake, the crowds welcomed Jesus because they had been waiting for him. And this moment happens after Jesus had sailed to the far side of the lake to the region of the Genneserines. Remember the demoniac guy who was, like, breaking change and scratching himself?
He got delivered and sent the unclean spirits into a herd of pigs. Right? Y'all remember that story? Well, we read this detail. On the other side of the lake, the crowds welcome Jesus, and there's a potential to think of Jesus stepping off the boat like a like a a benevolent celebrity, like a Mother Teresa.
Oh, he's just going around doing good, and people are excited that he's back. But there is a dynamic to this story when you understand what had happened previously that adds a new element to this story. He had recently completely ruined a funeral by raising a dead boy to life, ruined the whole funeral. He then goes to the other side of the lake. On the way, he interrupts a perfectly good storm.
The disciples say that they are terrified of this man Jesus. Who is this that can even command the wind and the waves? He sets foot on the lakeshore on the other side of the lake. He sets free a man that had been held in bondage and captivity. Then he disrupts an entire local economy, then gets in the boat and comes back to this side of the lake.
Who is this man that is stepping out of the boat on the lakeshore? And here are a crowd of people that are eagerly looking forward to his return. In a similar way, today, this morning, Jesus sets foot on the lakeshore of this church service. Does he need to comfort? Does he need to disrupt?
Does he need to upend, uproot, mend, heal? And in a similar way, this morning, Jesus sets foot on the lakeshore of your heart. Are you going to casually walk by, dismiss his arrival? How many thousands of people have stepped out of boats on lakeshores? Oh, it's just some just one other person.
Or will you realize that this is unlike any other man that you've ever met or has been known in the entire universe? Lord, the prayer of our hearts this morning is that we would like we would be like those people who waited eagerly. We rearranged our lives to intercept you as you stepped off of the boat on the lakeshore. We're here eagerly waiting your arrival this morning. On the other side of the lake, the crowds welcomed Jesus because they had been waiting for him.
Jesus, our hearts long for you. Set foot on the lakeshore of our heart and change our lives, God. We ask you.
This week, I was driving, and I came to a stop sign, and I was feeling sorry for myself because I've experienced some physical weaknesses over the last several years. And I was sitting at this stoplight, actually. I was, like, just bummed out. Like, why am I physically weak? Why can't I why can't these things be healed, or why can't I feel stronger?
And the Lord, he brought to me this reality that when I'm weak, he's strong. And, that was really comforting in the moment. But when I started to dig into where that's actually at in the Bible, he was unpacking it a little bit for me. And so this is out of second Corinthians, and it said, but he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
For the sake of Christ, then I am content with weakness, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I'm weak, then I am strong. And so I feel like the Lord was just saying, yeah, when you're weak, I'm strong because I'm always strong. But actually, like, his intent is that we would be made strong because of him. So this for when I am weak, then I am strong.
And I felt like I don't know. I just maybe there's someone in here that that could speak to this truth that, yeah, God is always strong, and we do recognize our weaknesses, but his grace is sufficient for his power is made perfect in our weaknesses.
So good. Something really supernatural happens when what Colleen just did and Cathy sharing that, like, in our weakness when we confess it. There's something supernatural that I feel like the church has sort of lost. You know, some denominations have built secret rooms around it. You know, go tell this one guy, you know, but don't say to anybody else and then do these certain things.
And there's something so supernatural that breaks off of us when we share it. It's just God's way. He says, confess your sins to your brothers, to one another. I don't know. Just feel like something so supernatural just broke off of you, Colleen.
You know, just like because he partners with us and he knows that that's the enemy would love to keep us in some kind of shame even if he does reveal it. I can share that. Everybody knows Colleen's the sweetest, kindest human being, you know, like and then, you know, I'm saying like there's all these things that the enemy tries to do and the Lord's like, I'm trying to set you free. This is between you and me. So I just wanna encourage you that it's so powerful when we share our weakness and what the Lord can do.
It's beautiful. Does anyone else have anything on their heart this morning before we move to the next kind of worship?
Yeah. I just felt like as we were talking about, like, injuries and weakness, like, that's, like, where we invite the healing into our lives is when we acknowledge the weakness or the injury. I just think about, like I don't know, growing up how you'd get, like, a scraped knee or whatever and you're out with your buddies and, like, you didn't wanna admit that, like, oh, like, I can't keep playing. I can't keep doing this, whatever. But if you, like, didn't acknowledge the wound, you could actually get infected and it get worse And it could hurt other parts of your bodies, and then you'll be out for even longer.
So it's like the importance of being like, yeah, like, need to put a band aid on this. I need to take care of this. Need to clean the wound and go through that process of healing. But it starts with admitting that you got hurt and you got weakness.
We just pray over that, Jay.
Lord, we just ask that you light up every shadow in our lives, that you you take away any footholds that the enemy may have in our lives, any any blind spots, Lord. We just ask that you bring them before us. That you hold up a mirror to our lives so we can see the log in our own eye. Help us to come before you on our knees, ready to invite Jesus, our savior, to come and work in our lives and to bring healing and to bring wholeness and to bring intimacy with you, Lord. We ask this in your son's precious name.

I'm you guys are getting me there. I I literally had this as one conversation that this is now week four of this it's one, two, three, four sentences, one verse that we've been on. But when you come all the way out to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and you're going to visit the iconic, the legendary Grand Teton National Park. Who rips through the park at 80 miles an hour on the Outer Park Road being like, oh, there's the Teton, as you cruise past, and then say with any kind of integrity that you've seen the Tetons. We no.
We don't do that. We actually moved here because we can't get enough of the Tetons. And in a similar way, back at the beginning of January, we felt like the Lord put a word on our heart for tribe, for us corporately as a tribe family, and that there is far reaching potential for this verse to impact each and every one of our lives personally. And so we're taking a slow roll through this passage, Psalms thirty seven thirty four. Let's go ahead and throw that up.
Psalms thirty seven thirty four, and we're exploring like we're doing we're not just looking at Cascade Canyon. We're doing like the whole Cascade Canyon loop, and we're like looking at every wildflower. We're trying to pet every marmot.

For a maybe over a year now, I've been threatening with this series called Turn the Cat Around. Does anybody remember me mentioning that? Jay's like, that's why I started coming to Tribe.
I've literally been waiting for this series. If this pets the cat your cat the wrong way, then turn the cat around. And I tell you what, we've got this. I have one more standalone message. And then I promise we're gonna get into turn the cat around series.

to take home a kitten. Psalms 37. Would somebody please read out loud? You can read it from this translation that's on the screen or from your translation. Well, let's just so we're all on the same page.

Put your hope in the Lord. Travel steady along his path. He will honor you by giving you the land, and you will see the wicked destroyed.
Woo hoo. Good job. I keep a little tally in the back of my bible for people who might be it's their first time to speak out in church, and their voice is beautiful and lovely. So you get a check mark. If you if you recall, we have been looking at different phrases.
When we read this in English, man, there's so much that we can get out of this. But what we've done with this particular passage, and if you haven't picked this up, it's kind of my style that I inherited from my mentor. He loved to look at the original language of the Old Testament and the New Testament, and I believe that there are beautiful facets of insight that we can see that bring enrichment to our understanding that helps us to make that 18 inch drop from our thinker to our knower. If this only stays in our thinker, it has zero capacity to change our life. Otherwise, who would have been the greatest Christians and followers of Jesus during Jesus' three year ministry?
The Pharisees.
The Pharisees. Boy, they had this thing memorized up one side and down the other, but it was all here. Very few of them, it had made that 18 inch drop where it has the ability and capacity to change one's life. It's like an apple seed. As long as it sits here on the on the on the on the counter, it really it has a lot of stored or potential energy, but that energy is not released until it's planted into the ground.
The seed itself dies, and new life springs up, and that's where we get a good, juicy, delicious apple from. Did you know that within the apple seed is trace amounts of arsenic? Kathy's like, yes, I knew this. Trace amounts of arsenic. And so here's the extrapolate.
I'm not saying that there's poison in the word, but in many ways, if this word, the logos of God, never becomes the rhema, comes alive, but you just memorize it and memorize it, I mean, you can go straight to hell having memorized tons and tons of bible verses. Jesus says, depart from me. I don't know why I have this memorized in the King James. Depart from me, ye who work iniquity. I never knew you.
You never took my word. I set foot on the shore of your heart, and you dismissed me or treated me casually or thought of me only on an intellectual level. It's when we encounter the man Jesus that the logos of God becomes the rhema, alive and bears fruit. And so we are looking at several different Hebrew phrases contained within this passage to help grease the skids, if you will, so that the logos of God right here can drop down into our hearts to become the rhema of God where there's rich, fertile soil where the word of God can come alive and transform our lives. With that being said, if you will remember, the first phrase that we came across was this phrase, put your hope in the Lord.
And I think we have it highlighted. Put your hope. And we looked at that Hebrew phrase. Does anybody remember the the the picture that should come to your mind when you hear that when you hear that Hebrew phrase, put your hope? What's the picture?
There you go. Yes. It's being twisted like a a rope being woven or braided together. So there was that there was the phrase travel so you can go to the next slide. In one version of the keynote, I might have accidentally had you queue up the old version of this keynote because I put in the text those definitions.
So we'll stay with this version of the keynote, but you're just going to have to listen a little closer. So next phrase was travel steady. And if you remember that Hebrew phrase means to watch, to wait for, to observe, to be on guard, kind of like what was mentioned during worship, that when Jesus came back across to this side of the lake, there were a group of people who had orchestrated the events of their life to put themselves on an intercept course to meet Jesus when he arrived on the other side of the lake. That's the idea of travel steady, to watch, to wait for, to observe, to be on guard. Then the next phrase that we came across was his path.
Not your path, not the path your parents would have for you, not the path that social media would say that you should be on, not the path that you might want to be on, but his path. We looked at that Hebrew phrase. And it does mean road or journey in a similar way that we would think of, but also this idea of manner, the way in which Jesus goes about doing things. Not, okay, Jesus would go from A to B, but how does Jesus travel from a to b? Is it possible that Jesus has orchestrated events in your life?
His goal is fully to bring in he fully intends to bring you to b, but it might be by way of c and h and w. And for you linear literalists, I know that that rubs your cat the wrong way. Really, the best thing that you can do is just what, Jay? That's right. Turn the cat around.
Then last week, not last week because I I wasn't here last week, didn't
what you just said from a to z. People like to go from a to b or
a to b by way of c h q and z. Not straight the way you wanted it. Yeah. And if that

language. And if that pets your cat the wrong way, what should you do, Jay? Turn the cat around. Just turn the cat around. Right?
Don't try and change God's ways.
Yeah. Because the Lord the Lord says, I am the Lord, I change not. And he knows the best way to pet you. And if it's not how you like, you gotta just turn your life around.

I love you, oh oh, so here's what I was gonna say. Didn't Lissa and Jay and the team do a great job last week? Wasn't that awesome? Alright. Clap for him.
The next passage says that he will honor you. And if you remember, when you look at that phrase in the Hebrew, it means to lift up, to set on high, but it also means to grow up, to be active in your maturation process. And what is one of the ways in God's wisdom, one of his ways that he chooses to bring us into maturity? What what is that called? Say it for us, Joy.
Tribulation. Tribulation. God does not inflict harm, evil, death, destruction, pain, suffering on you. But there are things that he allows in his wisdom that he could easily prevent in his power. And he in his foreknowledge, he knows that just around the bend, a difficult time is coming.
And he says, I could I could pull her out of this situation. I could cause this to just completely fizzle and fade before she ever bumps up into it. But but in my wisdom, there's something really amazing that I have for her, a glimpse of me and my character. I need to show her something that's in her heart in this moment, and I have a present for her in the midst of this difficulty or tribulation that can only be appreciated in this circumstance. That's not in the bible.
Yes, it is. The bible says, find this address, in the Valley Of Achor, God places a door of hope. In the valley of trouble, God places a spring, a reservoir, a resource of learning about him, knowing about him, encountering him, being changed by him, that had he just dropped it into us without tribulation, we might have completely overlooked and missed the treasure of the gift that he has for us. That's why it says over and over and over and over in the bible, consider it pure joys, my brothers, when you face what? Trials.
Trials of many kinds. He's so good. And he also says this, he will not let you be tempted, crushed, squashed, pressed, harassed, tribulation more than you can withstand. When that comes, he will provide what? A way out.
A door of hope. Did you find it? Hosea two fifteen. Hosea 215. This is my little tribute.
In that circumstance, if we are traveling steadily along his path and we're putting our hope in him, there is a promise from the Lord that says that he will, in parentheses, according to his timing and in his way, Looking to see if anybody was adding that parentheses in their notes. It's important. It says it says that travel steadily along his path parentheses in his timing according to his way parentheses, end parentheses, he will honor you. Your innocence, there's another passage in the Bible that says your innocence will shine and radiate like the dawn in his time and his way. How do we overcome the enemy?
By laying down our lives. If somebody insults you, you turn the other cheek. Somebody demands your your your cloak, you offer them your jacket. If a Roman soldier compels you, by law, he could compel you to carry his armor one mile, you take it two miles. This is the upside down principles of the kingdom that have eternal reward and payoff.
He will honor you, cause you to be lifted up high above the situation and circumstance. And if you remember, there was a verse that tagged along with that. And if you would either make a note in your Bible and or turn to Genesis chapter seven, would somebody read verse seventeen and eighteen really quickly for me because you will find the same Hebrew word. And in fact, while you're turning there, Genesis seven seventeen and eighteen. And when you have that, Jay will get you the mic so you can read it.
But this is the first time that word is used in the Bible. There's something within the literary structure of the Bible called the principle of first mention. The principle of first mention whenever a a key word or concept or theme is mentioned throughout the Bible, you can learn a lot about it by going back and looking at the very first time that it's mentioned. This is the first time we see that Hebrew word that we get the word honor, and it's in Genesis 17 seven, seventeen and eighteen, and I think Leah's got it. It's a different English word.
Oh. Read the verse and we shall find it. Okay. Two verses.
Okay. The flood contained continued for forty days upon the earth and the waters increased and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark floated on the face of the waters.
That's it. If you go back and look at that verse in the Hebrew English transliteration, you will see that same word introduced to us as the readers of the bible using to describe Noah's ark. The flood the rains came down. The ark went Up. Up.
And there was a separation between that refuge of righteousness. The Bible says that Noah was righteous. That we're not gonna pull off on that detour right now. But the earth had become corrupt. What did God do?
He separated Noah and his family from the corruption of the rest of the earth. What did he use? I can't reach it. Yes, I can. What did he use to bring about that separation?
The flood tribulation. Let's always have this in mind so that we can have the attitude of Peter, whose light, momentary sufferings.

are three more words. Let's look at this next phrase I want us to to pause on. This idea of giving you. Everybody say giving you. Giving you.
Here's something that's very important that you should know about the promises of God. The promises of God are always guaranteed, but they are not all automatic. Would somebody who's heard me say that before and feels like they can wrap their mind around it explain that to the rest of our tribe family. The promises of God are always guaranteed, but they are not all automatic. Who thinks they know what I'm toxin
about? Well, you've talked about it before.
So a person who has cancer may not become free of cancer until they are welcomed into his gates and have passed from this earth, but they will be cancer free when they come home.
Okay. Yeah. You're you're onto it. I mean, you went for like like a like a big hairy scary example.
I'm not subtle.
Yes. Yes. I think yes. You're you're totally onto it. You're totally onto it.
I think as soon as you say that word cancer and sickness, like people's minds like and it makes it a little bit challenging to to understand the basic precepts of what I said. So I don't know if I would yes. You
I was just gonna say he partners with us on his promises. So, like, the first thing that came to mind was in Philippians where it says, this is on us. Don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need.
Thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace.
So the promise.
Am I not experiencing God's peace? Because there's a part that I need to do to grab a hold of his promise.
There you go. There's a partnership. There's a partnership. And I like to use that word partnership to to try to downplay the tendency for us to begin to think in terms of transactional if then. If because how many times have we said, but I have done all I have fulfilled my transactional requirements, and still sometimes he don't.
But there's a partnership. Thanks, Jay. There is a partnership. There is like a dance, which we actually see that phrase in Psalms 37 beforehand, but that's a whole another series or year or two. We'll have to put that after.
Yeah. We've got our Jewish festivals to weave into. And we basically have the next three years planned out right now, guys. Stay stay tuned. So God's promises are always guaranteed.
If he said it in his word or and or if he whispered it to your heart that is confirmed and backed and not in contradiction to his word, that promise is yes and amen. It is guaranteed. However, just because you read it don't mean that it's gonna happen. There is some participation and involvement that the Lord has designed for us to engage with. If you wanna call it wrestling, if you want to call it grabbing a hold of in a very good active way, if you want to call it waiting, if you want to call it interceding, those are all acceptable words.
God's promises are always guaranteed. You're never going to hold God to a promise and have him go, oh, I said that? He said it, he meant it, he'll stand by it. But there's some grabbing a hold of participation. Okay?
I just I would just, I guess, like to add to that. I've noticed that when he encourages me to take a step in a direction that I didn't anticipate, but you take a step and it's uncomfortable, but you've prayed for something, just didn't anticipate that that would be the path that it would take you on, he will bless you when you take that step on his path instead of your own. So if you're praying for something, it's not happening in a timely fashion on your time. I find that when I take a step in his direction that might be obscure to you in the first place, he'll actually start blessing you, and it'll move you closer than you ever could imagine in his time. It's in his time, but you have to realize to take the step towards him first, and then he'll start blessing you with that promise.
The appropriate response is for all all of us to go, It's good. It's good. Giving you. Let's look at this phrase in the Hebrew. Giving you.
When we read that in English, the tendency is for us to think that we just sit there like a little baby bird in the nest. Just my mouth open, just drop it right in, just give it to me. In Hebrew, that word, it does include the idea of what we would think of in English is like just giving it to you. It does include that. It does include that because our father is a good father who knows how to what?
Give good gifts. Boy, he loves to give good gifts. Why did he put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden? Because the bible tells us that he loves he is a rewarder, and he loves to reward. He was really now it wasn't a surprise to him.
Remember, foreknowledge. But he put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil so that when, if Adam and Eve didn't choose that, he could reward Adam and Eve with the tree of everlasting life. He longs to reward. He doesn't have all of these things on his prize shelf and dangle them and be like, don't mess up, and I might give you a little goody, a little trinket from the prize shelf. That's not how he is.
He longs to reward and to give. And so, yes, when it says giving you, it does mean what we think of like, yay, thank you. But in the Hebrew, also means this, to take possession of, to occupy, especially by force. And in your notes or in your bible, you can underline giving you, draw a line out into the margin, put some quotation marks, and say grab a holt dove. What did God say to Joshua as he set foot on the other side of the Jordan.
What did he say? Paraphrase it. Come on. Come on. You can do it.
I'm giving you the land.
I'm giving you the land. Did he give them the land? But what did they had to do?
He bite
for it. Yes. God said, today, I am giving you the land. Did he give them the land? Yes.
But what did they have to do?
Bite it. Bite for it.
Bite for it. I feel a Beastie Boys lyric coming up in me. Well, how is it? In our brains, it is a a paradox. If you're giving it to me, why do I have to fight for it?
We don't like paradoxes. If you are going to walk and travel steadily along his path for any length of time, we need to be comfortable with paradoxes. Is he the lamb, or is he the lion? Is he the stone that the builders rejected, or is he the bread of life? What's the answer?
Yes. We
need to become comfortable. If you are a Christian, you must become comfortable with a paradox when it comes to the kingdom of God. Because the bible says that he uses the foolish things of this world to shame even the most brilliant wisdom of the scholars of the age. Intellectuals can plumb the depths of of this book and write volumes on on its brilliancy, but yet it is the gospel is so simple, a child can understand it and embrace it and encounter it. So when this passage says giving you, there's this idea of grabbing a hold of it.
But Lord, you said, I'm going to travel steadily along your path believing you for what you have promised to me. And I have an eager expectation that in your timing, in your way, you will honor me, giving me guys, we got two more words. I think we can do
this. Everybody
say, let's go.
Let's go.
The land. What is the land? Now, in English, it's fairly easy for us to translate, to pull out that word land, and plug in that good, right, and true, honest, and from the Lord thing that we're believing for. The return of a prodigal son or daughter. Healing, baby, housing, job, freedom from addiction and bondage, like come on.
You're not wrong to do that. Let's look at that word, land, in Hebrew. It does mean piece of ground, but it also means a territory, a zone that has boundaries under the control of another authority or what the Bible might use as a principality. What about that territory of having a judgmental spirit that was formerly under the control of selfishness, pride, fear, whatever. It don't matter.
But eviction notice was served to that principality. You're trespassing, bro. Get out. Go on now. Get.
I am traveling steadily along his path. You you have honored me, causing me to like separating me from my icky. There's some buoyancy there enabling me to see. Oh, that's not me. That's that's some ickies.
That's some enemy occupied territory. Let's serve an eviction notice to the enemy in that area of my life or heart, And he will give by me confessing, grabbing a hold of the land, the territory, but it also includes people group. Psalms two, ask and I will give you the nations as your inheritance. What nation have you given your life to? Do you want to see they're represented among that great cloud of witnesses?
Boy, I pour out my life as a drink offering to see the nation of rock climbers, river rats, and ski bums come to the Lord and all their rowdiness and hooping and hollering and go get it, like, let's let's do that for Jesus. They will give you the land. Last word. And you will see the wicked destroyed. I think a lot of times as Christians, we, as I just said a few moments ago, we turn the other cheek, we walk the extra mile, we offer our jacket after we've already given them our fleece.
Shell jacket, that's rough. We like to think nice things about people, but man, have you ever read David and how he felt about his enemies in Psalms? He's like, Lord, crush their skulls. Make their blood flow in the streets. Expose them.
Cause their downfall. He's pretty savage. He says all of those things that a junior high girl is thinking in, a nasty breakup. He says them. That was very funny.
You will see the wicked destroyed. Let's let's examine in Hebrew what that word means. And to do this, let's turn back to Genesis. We're gonna see again another example of the principle of first mention. Genesis, this time Genesis.
One of my mentors used to say Genesis. That's why I always have I say Genesis in my head. One of these days, I'll find a clip of him saying it. I'll say it, and then we'll inflict the rest of you with always hearing Genesis.
He also spoke like four fluent languages. There was some weird
Yeah. He yeah. He was I mean, he was allowed to. Genesis nine verse 11. Would somebody please read that verse out loud?
Genesis nine verse 11.
I'll go for it. I established my covenant with you that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.
So the phrase, the repeated phrase in English in Genesis, we see it as cut off. Neither shall all flesh be cut off anymore by the waters of a flood. When the floodwaters came, it destroyed all living creatures, so that when Noah stepped off of the ark, was he met with all kinds of of zoo animals and people there like, oh, glad you made it. How was your cruise? There was nothing.
Really, the only evidence that we have that something was there was that little olive branch, right, that the dove comes back. And then later, he sends the birds out, the birds don't even come back because like, oh, Okay, we found new life, new creation. So here's the idea. Destroyed is this idea of cut off, removed, beheaded, taken away, gone forever. What is it that dogs your heels?
What is it that tries to keep you in bondage, to trip you up, slow you down, tries to to to stay hidden. Were you talking earlier this morning about, like, the like, the the the the closet? Yeah. Just keep that tucked away. When we travel steadily along his path and we place our hope, weave together our hope in him, in his time and in his way, he will honor you.
Give buoyancy to your life and to that circumstance. Giving you, enabling you to grab a hold of, bringing you to a place of maturity so that there will be an inheritance, territory, land, victory, and that enemy that has tried to keep you down, you will put your foot on that thing's neck. What did David do to Goliath after he took him out with the stone? He cut his head off. With what?
Come on. Your your yes. His That enemy's which the enemy intended for evil. I'm gonna use it back on that dirty devil. Oh, that's some good preaching here today.
That's some good preaching here today. Destroyed, removed, cut off, gone forever. Mike's coming. Yes.
Just a question. When I read this verse like so many, I my brain goes to, like, after the Lord's return, like, the promises that we have hope for in the new kingdom. So, this a both and? Is this a promise for now and after the Lord returns, do you suppose?
Couple thoughts. Number one, but hold on to the mic because you're gonna answer your question. Number one, I love that you are seeing when I read this verse, my mind is thinking about the return of the Lord. Once we see the return of Jesus in the scripture did you all know that there's way more about the second advent of Jesus throughout the Bible than there is about his first coming, his advent? His first coming was a mystery.
Now the mystery has been revealed and there's way more talk about the second coming of Jesus. We've already experienced the first one. We are thankful. We are grateful. But boy, do we wait with eager anticipation for Jesus to set foot on the shore of the human story yet again.
So number one, I love that you're seeing that. Number two, you tell me. Yes. Yeah. But but,
tell us a little more. It does seem like a it does seem like a both end. And as Joel says, once you see the Maranatha cry, which is come Lord Jesus that you can never unsee it. And so, I know we've been talking a lot about that. But, yeah, I see this as, you know, to to pull back, Leah's big scary example.
You know, there are things that you just are so frustrated with because you don't feel like the Lord hears you or that he doesn't answer you. And we all go through seasons like that. And we know he does if we know his character. We know he hears us. And, but yeah, I see this as kinda what you said, Kat.
If you're in the Lord's will, or as we've said here before, like from Finding Nemo, like the the sea turtle flow, like, you're in there with the Holy Spirit doing what you need to do, he will honor you by giving you the land and you'll see the wicked destroyed. It might not be how you want or in your time. Mhmm. And it might be now and it might be not now. It might be long after you.
But just because you live or die on this earth does not mean God's promises live or dies with you. You know, you might not see it, like you said, until until the other side of heaven. But anyway, yeah, I think it's a both and. I think it's a promise we can claim for now, but not lose our faith if it's not happening because we're like, well, I trust you. Either it's gonna be either I'm gonna see it later in your timing or it'll happen at some point because your word doesn't return to you void.
And why not hold on to that verse? I'm gonna grab a hold of that verse that says, I will see the goodness of God while I am still in the where? Land Land of the living. On this side. I'm believing you for it, Lord.
I long for it. I wanna see it. One quick caveat. Don't be caught up. Count among the wicked when they are destroyed.
There's a story in at the base of Mount Sinai. Yes. I okay. Let me let me modify. It either happens at the base of Mount Sinai or right after they cross the Jordan.
I think it's at the base of Mount Sinai where oh, they're they're speaking bad against Moses. And Moses tells the Levites, like, run-in among the camp of among the camp and say, separate yourself from what was that family? Help me. See, this is why we're in this together, y'all. Oh, I'm so glad I don't have to have it all.
Korah's rebellion? Separate yourself. The judgment of God is coming and he is bringing judgment on this sin. Separate yourself. Don't be counted among them.
Don't hold on to it. Receive the buoyancy of the Lord to be separated, to be lifted up and and and separated from. If there's intentional blatant sin in your life that you're holding on to, do not be counted among the wicked. Separate yourself because judgment is coming and the wicked. And if there's an area of will be destroyed and if there's an area of wickedness in your heart, you will experience loss.
And in that time, no matter how much on this side you've defended it, you've justified it, you have reconciled it, you've surrounded yourself with people that support, condone that, all of that will be stripped away in this separating. Far far be it from me that there would be that there would be any wickedness, and you know how much wickedness is in this heart. Honor me by separating me from my sin so that I can see it from your perspective. That I would hear your voice like you cried out to Israel. Oh, that you would come out from among the nations of the earth and be my separate special possession.
You will be my people and I will be your God. Lord, my my heart has heard you say, come and spend time with me. And the cry of my heart is, Lord, I am coming. Oh, it is so much better to fall on the rock and be broken than to hide, defend, remain ignorant of. And in that day, the stone that the rejecters that the builders had rejected becomes the cornerstone and it will fall on you and crush you and you will experience loss.
Last thing, how I do that? How I do that? How do you do that? When a person invites Jesus into their heart, they get a brand new life. When a person gets baptized in water, it's a picture of dying to that old life separation honor.
When a person receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit, they receive the power to walk out the new life that they've been given. When you were saved, the Holy Spirit took up residence within you. But in a similar way that the woman had the perfume and the alabaster jar, but the fragrance couldn't permeate the entire house until the jar was what? Broken open. And the Bible says in the book of John that the fragrance filled the house.
When you break open the jar of the person of the Holy Spirit to operate in your life, in you and then out through you, that's the receiving of power that enables you to walk out the new life that you've been given to travel steadily along his path. How I do that? How did you get saved? But you asked him and it was by faith. Right?
Same way. So let's close our eyes. We'll do this. If you have never invited Jesus into your heart, Today you can. The bible says if we confess with our mouth, believe in our heart, it will be saved.
Jesus, through the hearing of your word today, my heart is blasted to pieces. Today, I need to surrender my life to you, Jesus, and invite you to forgive me of my sin and be the leader of my life. Then you better take care of some business right now. This is just between you and the Lord. Either it's for the first time or you've been traveling your own path for a long time and you're like, You need to rededicate or commit your life.
Do that right now. Jesus. Here's the second invitation. To receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which means simply you surrendering your life to the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit, giving him permission to operate in you and through you as he sees fit and desires and knows what you need. And that simply looks like you in the stillness of your own heart say, Jesus, you were filled with the Holy Spirit.
I wanna be filled with the Holy Spirit to the point of overflowing. I wanna cut off trying to follow you in my own strength, and I surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit operating in me and through me. I'll take all your gifts. I'll take all your correction. I'll take all your love.
I'll take all your power. I'll take all you got for me because you're a good father who knows how to give good gifts. Right? You're keeping up with me saying all these things in your heart right now. Now you just make it personal in your own words and just be still before him for a moment.
Let the Holy Spirit minister to your heart. Jesus, I love you and I thank you. I trust you. Thank you so much. Jesus.
Just fling wide the doors of your heart this morning to receive, grab a hold of what he has for you. Jesus, I receive your power. Take a look at me just real quick. How many of you have ever prayed for something really hard in English or whatever your first language is? Yeah.
That that's all of us. Anybody ever gotten to the prayers to the end of their prayers in their with their vocabulary? Like, so that all that comes out is, but like, that's it. I still got way more to pray, but like, I just used all my words. Believe it or not, I've been there.
The Bible equips believers with a language that comes from their spirit. When I speak to you in English, the words that are formed in my heart have to go through my brain and then across my vocal cords in English so that I and all of you understand. There's a gift in the Bible that's available to each and every believer that bypasses your intellectual thinker. The bible says in first Corinthians that when a person prays in the spirit, that they are praying directly to God. And the bible says they're praying in in line with his will, and the bible says that it is the perfect prayer.
The bible also says that the spirit of a prophet is subject to the prophet. Maybe you've seen at other times, other places, the gift of what could be called speaking in tongues, maybe abused or confusing to you and you're like, uh-uh. Nope. I get it. I get it.
But holy cow. The gift of tongues when expressed in a prayer language to God, oh, come on. It would make sense that the enemy would try to scare you from that. You wanna talk about unlocking power? You just pray in your prayer language.
I don't have a prayer language. How you know you don't have a prayer language? How do you know? Well, I opened my mouth and nothing happened. Well, did you move some air across your vocal cords?
Remember this idea of grab a hold of? Yeah. Yeah. But I'll sound dumb. Yeah.
The Bible says that my mind won't understand, but my spirit does. And it is appropriate for you to have perhaps even a corporate expression of a private prayer language. You've perhaps heard it floating on the wind during worship like, I don't know, last couple years here at Tribe. Lissa says, lift your own song. Could be in English, might be in Romanian, could be in tongues.
Jesus. Oh, something stirring in somebody here. I want that for me. All you gots to do is just try. What if I'm no good?
It's okay. You get better next time you try. You get better than that. That sounds like practicing. Yep.
Hebrews 11, through practice, the gifts are made or perfected. Well, how do I practice? Start in English. Thank you, Jesus. I love you, Jesus.
Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for giving me a brand new life. Thank you for a wonderful church family. Thank you for an incredible pastor. I mean, you know, what you know, whatever whatever comes out.
Thank you for the gift of humility and amazing wife, the voice of the Holy Spirit that often comes through my wife. And then in in adoration and in thanksgiving, it just switches from English. Thank you, Jesus. I love you, Jesus, into tongues. Jesus, I love you.
Thank you, Jesus. I love you. Jesus, we love you. Thank you that you will honor me. Thank you that I'm not left to try to figure out your path or walk my own path.
Give me the strength and endurance to travel steadily along your path. Jesus, thank you. Yes? Oh.

We're gonna stay in this attitude just a moment longer, I know your fingies are hurting and you have something to say. But I just this scripture, as we were sitting here, I think Clay opened it up today when he was talking about that longing of his heart, and then Jen, you expressed it when you spoke as well. But I just feel as we express worship to the Lord corporately here together one more time, we're gonna bring our tithe and our offering to Him in just a moment, and I'll tell you how. But I just it's just on my my heart, like in the in the heart of every human there's this longing for simplicity. And as the world gets ever increasingly harder and more challenging and things come up, you know, globally and in our own life, we just have this longing inside or outside of the church for simplicity.
And the Lord just is like, just connect with me and let everything else just do what it's gonna do. And Jen, I think you were just so spot on and I know you felt the Holy Spirit saying saying that to you. And the Bible talks about childlike faith. And then and what I wanna say is just don't over complicate things. Just go back to the simplicity of you and the Lord.
Just you and the Lord. And study his word and and be a good steward and do what he asks you to do, but just go back to that place. And as we bring our tithe and our offering to him, first Timothy six, there's a couple scriptures that came to my mind and it says, and there's a whole sermon that could come out of this, so we're not gonna do anything other than read it. Unless you want to be here till two, I have it on my heart. So it says in in first Timothy six, Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.
After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world and we can take nothing with us when we go. So if we have enough food or clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into the ruin for destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, that's been misquoted a lot, and some people craving money have wandered from their true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. Teach this is Paul talking to Timothy.
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generosity to those in need, always being ready to share. By doing this, they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.
And none of that is to be like, don't buy nice things. Okay. That's that's not at all what we're saying. Our job isn't to tell you what's nice and what's not and how much to spend. You be a good steward.
That's what the Bible says. Listen to the Holy Spirit. But what I want us to pull out of that is that it's it's all his anyway. Everything is the Lord's anyway. And that simplicity we spoke of, it's just you and the Lord and it's all his anyway.
And so when we bring our tithe and our offering to the Lord, let us change our heart posture not just to, this is a Sunday thing, you know, given to the local food bank, given to church, check the box, done. Change your heart posture to, Lord, it's all yours anyway, and this is an act of worship and an act of surrender to you. Don't let me be caught up in riches and things of this world. Let me be a good steward and do what you want me to do, but don't let me be so caught up where my heart gets off track. So tribe family, we're gonna pray together, but just close your eyes for a moment as we pray and just ask the Lord to change your heart posture.
If you've ever been hurt by the church talking about tithe or money, I know that could be sensitive. Just ask the Lord to forgive you and for him to show you what it is you need to see. And so heavenly father, we just come to you as a tribe family and say thank you for the opportunity we have anytime to bring our tithe and to give of our offering above and beyond the tithe to you, Lord. And it's an act of surrender saying, God, this is yours anyway. And so I'm giving what you've asked me to give and I thank you that you're putting your super on my natural act and doing so much more and reaching so much further for your kingdom than I could ever do just by giving a little here, giving a little there to charities, which has its place.
So Lord, we just thank you so much for the gift of bringing our tithe. Thank you for that one lane of opportunity you give us to be obedient. Help us to recalibrate and get on back on track with you and our heart posture to be in the right space when it talks about giving money. And we thank you for ears to hear, spiritual ears to hear, and eyes to see what you're doing and how you're moving and how you want us to be a part of that. We thank you for every person here today and their obedience to you in bringing of their tithe.
Lord, we just ask you I ask you to show us each individually what it is you want us to see and how this is impacting people and just thank you for the courage to ask. We love you and thank you for the simplicity of just our relationship, me and you. Very, very complex in one way, but just the simplicity of putting everything else aside and just focusing completely on you. And we know when we do, Father, things like tithe and offering or obedience or cutting off sin that weighs us down, Paul said. All that stuff kind of becomes easier and easier because we're so myopically focused on you, Jesus.

She usually comes on Tuesday nights, but she, has a woman's bible study, and it's on the book of John, and it happens right here in this space every Monday, and it's at 07:00. If you wanna come tomorrow, you can. Just read John one, two, and three, and you'll be caught right up. But she's digging into the word, and the Lord put that on her heart, and it's a really special time if you wanna do bible study. That's for just women.
But it is happening tomorrow. Yes. Okay. Every other Monday come tomorrow. She's also doing something so cool.
This is you know, you can express worship to the Lord any old way. And she's gonna do this, painting and worship night. Where does that happen, actually? If you look on it happens here. I'm sorry.
I'm looking at the fridge. Anything I'm saying, you're like, just stop. We're hungry. Just look at the fridge on your way out the door and all of that's happening here. But I hope this happens more than once because I don't know if you've ever seen what Bethel does on their stage, but they paint while they worship and just they don't have something in mind.
It's not a color by number. They're just like, Lord, use these hands whatever you want. And it is breathtaking because it's of the Lord. And so I don't know if we're going to have something breathtaking that's going to come or it's just a little scribble. It does not matter because it's a way to worship and honor the Lord.
And I love God's creativity in that. You can worship him in so many ways. So take a look at that canvas painting. It's gonna be on February 11 from five to nine right here in this space. You heard us talk about Wind River and how we're gonna give food.
With the avalanche potential and the weather and all the things, we're not gonna load up the bus and take food this time, but you can give money specifically for food. And so you got a text. Yeah. As Tim comes up, let me just show you picture of a new addition to our tribe family right here. There is room for this one, and it is a little baby. Oh, well, case she's like, this pressure. There it is.
Raiden and Meredith Olsen, beautiful baby girl. We don't know the name. Oh, and look at that little bundle. So soon, we'll get to meet her at Tribe and just be praying for them. And that's the little baby.
And I'm gonna invite Tim to come up here for a moment. Tim is on our pastor's council and a member of our elder board here at Tribe, and he has something for all of us. What do you got, Tim?
Appreciate the segue, Brian, earlier on what you shared. I was just thinking about our first great gift is the gift of salvation. Right? The second great gift is the gift of the Holy Spirit. And, you know, if if some of you were for for those of you who who have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, it's an easy thing to forget about.
Right? It's kinda like electricity last week if your electricity went out. I was just, like, flipping them. I was like, what? You idiot.
You know it's out. But but but we we forget sometimes that the gift of the holy spirit is there and it's real. And so then I started thinking about these three watershed moments that you had brought up earlier that we we all know about as Christians. Right? We received Jesus.
And most everybody, right, we know, like, when that happened. Like, I I'm kind of a little bit fuzzy because it's like I was, like, really young and I just remember being terrified in bed like, Jesus, come save me and then save me again and then the next night, you know. So sometimes maybe we forget, but most of us remember that time. Right? It's a watershed moment.
Most of us, for those of us who have been baptized in water, we remember that. Right? I remember. I was like I was like a youth leader and I'd never been immersed in water. Now was at my buddy's, Jeff's pool with a bunch of people around and and getting baptized in the pool.
Not many of you have that convenience around here. You're often freezing, and it's it's it's it's challenging, but we remember that. Right? The gift of the Holy Spirit, it's not a 100%, but I'm pretty sure most of us remember it. Do you remember that?
Do you remember that moment where you were filled with the Holy Spirit that first time that you really really wanted it? I remember I was at a Alpha Conference in Dallas and I was a skeptic, man. I was like, I don't know, like that speaking in tongues thing is weird and holy spirit, don't I already have it? You know, like, I don't know. It was just funky.
And and Sandy Miler, who's the founder of the Alpha Course for those of you who are familiar, he just said, put out your hands. He said, do do you feel that heat? I was like, we all have different experiences. Right? But for me, in that moment, like, do you feel that?
And he just let us through it. So when I when I ask you guys today, do you remember that time that you were filled with the Holy Spirit and you're like, I I don't know. I don't know. I'm not saying you have to remember. Maybe maybe you maybe it's possible you don't remember.
But I think the normal, just like with being baptized, right, in water, the normal is we remember experience. If you don't remember that experience or if you're wondering, have I been filled with the Holy Spirit? I just wanna encourage us to let us pray for with you today. You're like, I might maybe it's gonna be weird. Maybe it is.
I don't know. God's kinda weird like that. Right? But you just kinda have to want the benefit more than the awkwardness. Right?
It's awkward for me to be up here right now. I feel like I need my deodorant. I'm sweating. Right? So but but the holy spirit will come if you want it.
And it when I was down there in Dallas at this this conference, I wanted it. It was the first time I really, really wanted it. So I just wanna encourage you today, Lee and Colleen, if you guys could maybe join me here next door, if we could kinda clear that out. There's anybody who's like, I I don't know. I don't know.
Consider. Consider. There's a moment. Right? Okay.

Work the way. Love it. Y'all stand up. Would that be alright if I prayed for you this morning? Lord Jesus, I command a blessing over each and every member of our tribe fam here today.
Fill us with your spirit so that we can travel steadily along your path. And we have a hopeful, confident expectation that you will honor us, reward us, giving us the land, and that we will see the enemies in our lives and in the lives of those around us crushed, cut off, defeated, never to raise their ugly heads again. We pray these In Jesus' name, the strong son of God. And everybody said Amen. Amen.
