At Tribe, a baptism story is treated as a moment worth pausing the whole congregation to witness and pray over. In the November 2023 message, Pastor Brian shared the story of a young woman named Ali who had come to Jackson Hole as a young adult, drifted from her faith, and spent years in occult practice and new age religion before returning to the Lord in her final weeks in the valley. On October 31 she was baptized in the Snake River by Carla, renouncing her past as an outward sign of what she described as an inward return. The congregation watched a short video of the baptism together and prayed for Ali, now living in Ohio.
The story was not offered as a sidebar. Brian placed it at the opening of the teaching as a living example of what Isaiah 62 describes, gates thrown open, a highway prepared, people returning. The baptism gave the congregation a face and a name for what the ancient text is pointing toward, and the weight of Ali's years away from God, followed by a public act of renunciation and return, made the passage feel immediate rather than distant.
