What does Tribe teach about biblical sovereignty?

Drawn from the message where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At Tribe, the teaching on biblical sovereignty starts with a foundation that leaves no room for ambiguity: the earth and everything in it belongs to God entirely. Brian Hunter built this out from Psalm 24:1 and Leviticus 25:23, showing that even Israel, the people most identified with a particular piece of land, were told by God that they were only tenant farmers on his property. Brian pressed the congregation to let that logic reach into every corner of their lives, including their homes, their talents, their breath, and their children. Nothing is ours to claim as our own.

From that foundation, Brian worked through the biblical and modern history of the land of Israel, tracing God's covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15, the tribal allotments under Joshua, and the political realities of the region from the Ottoman period through to 2023. The point was not merely historical. God acts as the owner of his own property, uses nations as instruments of his purposes, and answers to no one in doing so. Daniel 4:35 was part of the bedrock here: God does what he wills, and no one can question him.

The personal application Brian brought it to was about inheritance. Every believer has been given something by God, and the question the series keeps returning to is whether we are actually possessing what he has promised. The same God who made and kept covenant promises to Israel is the God who has given each person in the room an inheritance worth taking hold of.

The passage taught · 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

20 for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
