What does Tribe teach about breaking chains?

At Tribe, the teaching on breaking chains starts with an honest question: if the Bible says believers are free, why does daily life so often feel like anything but? Brian Hunter addressed this directly by walking through the Feast of Unleavened Bread and what it reveals about how God actually deals with sin. The old covenant placed the full burden of removal on the individual, searching room by room for every trace of leaven. Brian pointed out that trying to fight sin the same way, by focusing all your energy on finding and eliminating it in your own strength, tends to keep sin front and center rather than pushing it out. He called this the little pink monkey strategy: the harder you try not to think about something, the more you think about it.
What Jesus accomplished changes the whole equation. Drawing from Colossians, Galatians, Hebrews, and 1 Peter, Brian showed that Jesus canceled the record of charges against us, carried sin in his body on the cross, and removed it in a way that the Greek describes as out from the midst of, a complete separation of sin from a believer's identity as a son or daughter of God. Brian put it in terms of pulling yeast out of an already-baked loaf, something that should be impossible, which is exactly the point. John 8:34-36 puts it plainly, and Brian leaned into the words directly: "If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed."
That still leaves the question of why believers keep falling short. The conversation in the room landed on Romans 7, where Paul says he does the very things he does not want to do. Brian's answer was that sin no longer defines a believer's identity or standing before God, even while the body lives in a fallen world. The enemy's only remaining weapon after the cross, Brian said, is deception, getting people to forget what has already been done for them and what they owe the enemy, which is nothing. Behind all of it is a pastoral urgency Brian put plainly: "I want you to live free so bad, and I want you to represent the person who you claim to follow."
