What does Tribe teach about busyness?

At Tribe, the teaching on busyness starts with an unexpected place: ancient Egypt. Brian walked the congregation through Exodus 5, where Pharaoh responds to Moses by piling more work onto the Israelites and cutting off their resources. The goal, someone in the room noticed, was to keep the people too busy to listen. Brian sat with that observation and let it land: Pharaoh was not just a historical villain. He is a picture of the system that still runs today, one that enslaves people in the name of productivity.
Brian is direct that the markers of modern slavery do not look like chains. As he put it, "The evidence is found in our credit card statement, in our calendar, which is so full of things, and in our prescriptions for depression and anxiety." The yoke, he says, is real, but it is dressed up as ambition, efficiency, and busyness.
The counter to all of it, in Brian's teaching, is not a simpler schedule. It is Jesus. Drawing from Matthew 11:29-30, he drew a contrast between the restlessness the world imposes and the restfulness Jesus offers in its place. He was honest that following Jesus does not make life easier or simpler, but he holds to the promise that "Following Jesus doesn't make your life easier or simpler. But it certainly gets a whole lot lighter."

3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth day of this month, they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household;
