At Tribe, the teaching on celebrating together starts with a passage most people skip: the peace offering in Leviticus 7. Brian walked the congregation through the free will thanksgiving offering and showed that it was never designed to be a private religious moment. The offering was voluntary, brought when God had done something worth marking, and the law built community into its very structure. You could not eat the whole animal alone, and the text in Deuteronomy 12 makes that explicit, commanding that the feast be shared with sons, daughters, servants, and the Levites in your town.
Brian pointed out that the provision for people of lesser means, turtle doves instead of bulls, meant that no one was priced out of this kind of celebration. The goodness of God, as he taught it, is meant to move outward into a community, not stay locked in a private transaction between one person and God. Gratitude, in this framework, is inherently communal.
