Brian named three reasons he believes the death has hit so many people so hard. First, it shakes a foundational belief that Americans are not assassinated for their views. Second, Kirk was killed for holding the same biblical values many people in the room hold, which raises an unsettling question about what boldness about faith might cost anyone. Third, especially for younger people, losing a voice like his carries the weight of a soldier losing a commanding officer in the middle of a fight.
He connected the murder to the enemy's stated goal of stealing and killing, and the specific aim of silencing. The teaching held that up against the series' larger point: every person has a God-authored calling, and what they build toward that calling will one day be tested.
