What does Tribe teach about christmas rest?

At Tribe, the teaching on Christmas rest starts not with December but with an ancient Jewish harvest feast. Brian Liesenfelt opened the Hope Is Here series by tracing the feast of Sukkot in Leviticus 23, where God commanded Israel to stop after the harvest, build shelters, and remember how He had provided for them in the wilderness. Brian argued that Jesus was likely born during that feast season and that He fulfills it directly: He is the source of provision and rest that the feast was always rehearsing. The gap between what people expected from a messiah, a warrior liberator, and what arrived, a baby, is precisely where the teaching lands. Rest was never going to come from the kind of champion people imagined.
Brian pointed to Matthew 11 as the clearest statement of what Jesus actually offers. Brian says, "Jesus says, come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." That invitation is not seasonal. It belongs to the same Jesus who fulfilled Sukkot, and it is still open. The teaching presses on the tendency to respond to need by stressing, worrying, and trying to figure everything out alone. Brian put it plainly: "What need do you have this morning? It's human nature to stress and worry and try to figure out and overthink it yourself."
The grounding claim of the whole message is that the hope announced in Luke 1, delivered to Zechariah in the holy of holies, is not a past event to admire from a distance. Brian framed the question that the series keeps returning to: "Hope is here. How much or how well do you live your everyday life with that reality?" For Tribe, rest at Christmas is not about slowing down for a season. It is about returning to the One the whole story was pointing toward.
