What does Tribe teach about church community?

At Tribe, the teaching on church community starts with a simple and lived claim: the church is the people, not the building. Brian has pointed to eight years of the congregation meeting in homes, parks, a Lutheran church, Snow King, and a saloon as God's ongoing work of disrupting the assumption that church is a location. The building changes; the people remain the church.
The picture Brian uses for what that community is meant to look like is a family dinner table, not a restaurant. A restaurant is a place you show up to consume and leave. A family table is one where people contribute to each other's lives. That distinction is the practical shape Tribe is meant to take, and it runs underneath everything else the congregation does together.
The Genesis 45 teaching fits inside that frame. Joseph's long road from slavery to Pharaoh's second-in-command, holding grain for brothers who once sold him away, is offered as a picture of what God does through suffering and time. That same God is at work in the gathered community, and the congregation itself became part of the teaching that morning, passing a mic around to name what they saw in the text together.
