What does Tribe teach about complexity of life?

At Tribe, the teaching on the complexity of life starts with the conviction that clarity is not the absence of complexity but something that arrives in the middle of it. At the start of 2024, Brian shared what he believes the Lord placed on his heart as a word for the year: clarity in complexity. He was straightforward that he holds this humbly, not as a prophet, but as the lead pastor with a responsibility to share what he senses, and he noted that when he does share it, most people feel they have already been sensing something similar.
Working through Luke 24, Brian and the congregation traced a recurring pattern: Jesus does not introduce anything foreign to the disciples in their confusion and grief. He keeps returning to what he already said, and the disciples finally see what was always there. The teaching landed on a distinction that several people in the room built on together: clarity in this sense is not new information. It is existing truth becoming visible in a new way, the way a verse read a hundred times suddenly lands differently when you need it most. One observation that surfaced in the conversation was that when the disciples spoke only among themselves they stayed confused, but when Jesus spoke, clarity arrived. Another thread opened around the Emmaus road, and the idea that their walking and talking together may itself have drawn Jesus to join them, pointing to how the Lord tends to show up in the context of community.
Brian also widened the lens to the world outside the room. He argued that events like September 11 and COVID showed how quickly life can be reorganized around something no one saw coming, and that COVID in particular created an internal capacity in people for sudden, sweeping disruption. His sense is that this moment calls for the same thing Luke 24 describes: people who are present to one another, attentive to what Jesus has already said, and open to truth they may have read many times becoming newly visible. The service closed with communion as a practical act of that clarity.
