What does Tribe teach about drug use and demons?
Drawn from the message where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At Tribe, the teaching on drug use and demons starts with the recognition that spiritual access is not abstract. In the March 2024 message "The Power of Rain Over Ruin," Pastor Brian worked through Zechariah 10:1-2 and spent serious time on what it means when people seek comfort, guidance, or altered experience from sources God has not sanctioned. Whether that is a literal substance, a fortune teller, or anything else a person invites in to fill a place only God was meant to occupy, Brian was direct: the enemy does not need to force his way in when a door has already been opened. As Brian put it, "If the door is open that you have opened, the enemy literally has a legal right to do it."
Brian described how these open doors often look legitimate or even harmless on the surface, because the real terms are buried in fine print the person never reads. He contrasted that with the way God operates, putting every detail of the contract on top before asking you to sign. The point was not to pile on shame but to help people see clearly what they have agreed to, often without realizing it, and what it costs them.
The good news in the teaching is that God's response to ruin is not just to stop the bleeding. Brian said that God's posture toward someone coming out of bondage is not reluctant or minimal. "Not only will we close the door but I'm not going to let you just limp on. I'm going to bring healing. I'm going to bring restoration." The rain in Zechariah 10 is the picture Brian kept returning to, abundance that follows when the household gods and false guides are cleared out and God is given back the place of honor.
