Pastor Brian Simmons opened a series in January 2024 around a word he felt the Lord gave him: that 2024 would bring an exponential increase in complexity in the world, alongside an increase in clarity for those with eyes to see. He worked through Habakkuk 3 and Isaiah 35 together with the congregation, drawing out the way both passages describe the physical response of the earth to God's coming, his splendor and glory, the healing of the blind and lame, and the way wrath and mercy sit side by side. His conclusion was that both texts are prophetic references to the return of Jesus, and that the return will be universally visible and accompanied by what he described as a royal procession moving up through the desert.
Brian also brought current events into the conversation. He put a map on screen showing Benjamin Netanyahu's announced project, a high-speed rail line connecting northern Israel to Eilat in the south, with a proposed corridor extending through Saudi Arabia. He connected that proposed route to the 'highway of holiness' described in Isaiah 35, noting that nothing like it had ever existed in that wilderness before. On the timing question, Brian held a careful line: as he put it, 'No man knows the day or the hour, but Jesus commands us to know the season in which he returns.'
The pastoral landing point of the teaching was not anxiety but worship. Brian says, 'Clarity comes through worship.' For people trying to make sense of a world that feels increasingly unstable, the answer at Tribe is not to chase headlines but to turn toward God. The complexity is real, but so is the clarity available to those who seek it.
