What does Tribe teach about fear and uncertainty?

At Tribe, the teaching on fear and uncertainty starts with a close look at Luke 24, where Jesus meets people who are already overwhelmed. Brian walked the congregation through the whole chapter, from the women at the empty tomb to the disciples on the Emmaus road to the gathered group still shaken and afraid in Jerusalem, and the pattern that kept surfacing was the same: Jesus does not introduce anything new. He returns to what he already said, and people finally see what was always in front of them. Clarity, in this reading, is not fresh information handed down from outside. It is existing truth becoming visible in a new way, the kind of thing that happens when a verse you have read a hundred times suddenly lands with weight because now you need it.

The congregation also noticed something in the text together: when the disciples talked among themselves, the confusion held. When Jesus spoke, clarity arrived. Brian noted that the disciples walking and talking on the road may itself have been what drew Jesus to join them, which opened a thread about how the Lord tends to show up inside community rather than around it. Fear and bewilderment are not disqualifiers. They seem, in Luke 24, to be exactly the conditions Jesus walks into.

Brian framed this in light of a word he felt the Lord placed on Tribe for 2024: clarity in complexity. He held it humbly, not as a prophetic announcement but as the sense of a lead pastor who has a responsibility to share what he believes he has heard. His larger point was that the world can reorganize itself around disruption very quickly, and that living through events like COVID has left many people with an inner room already shaped by sudden, sweeping change. The teaching Tribe is sitting in is that Jesus has been present in that kind of complexity before, and his way through it is the same as it has always been.
