What does Tribe teach about giving up?

At Tribe, the teaching on giving up starts with a question most people do not think to ask: is getting into the race the same thing as finishing it? Brian has pressed on this directly, walking through 1 Corinthians 9 and 10 together rather than stopping at the familiar verse about self-discipline. Paul's point, and Brian's, is that the nation of Israel in the wilderness had the same miraculous access to the same God, and most of them still did not make it through. As Brian puts it, "Just because you got the bib number doesn't guarantee that you'll ever cross the finish line."
The teaching is careful to hold two things at once. Nothing separates a person from the love of God. But Brian distinguishes that from a person's own endurance in staying committed to Him, and he takes seriously what 2 Peter 2:21 says: it would have been better never to have known the right way than to have known it and turned away. The things that knock people off course are real, including exhaustion, distraction, discouragement, and the lie that says you have messed up too badly to keep going.
The closing note in these messages is not a warning but a source of strength. The comfort of the Lord, Brian teaches, does not look like God shortening the course or moving the finish line closer. It looks like Him supernaturally infusing tired people with enough to run one more mile. And Proverbs puts it simply: the righteous person falls seven times and gets back up. That strength, Brian says, becomes available the moment someone stops trying to run on their own and asks for it.
