What does Tribe teach about god's word?

At Tribe, the teaching on God's word starts with a simple but demanding question: once scripture is planted in your heart, what does it actually produce? Brian Hunter worked through Psalm 19:7-11 across two weeks to answer that question, and the picture he drew is less about information and more about transformation. God's word revives the whole person, not just the spiritual dimension. The Hebrew word nefesh, he explained, covers the mind, the will, the emotions, and the body, so planting scripture reaches into every part of a person's life.
Brian walked the congregation through five things the passage says God's word does: it revives the soul, brings joy to the heart, gives insight for living, warns of danger that is often camouflaged rather than obvious, and is itself a great reward that holds even when a person has nothing materially. On joy, he drew a firm line between happiness and joy, calling happiness something that moves with circumstances while joy is a fruit of the Spirit that cannot be taken. He also pushed back on any idea that the insight scripture offers is a tool for winning conflicts, pointing out that it might just as often lead someone toward humility or service instead of strategy. And on the question of what God requires, Brian put it plainly: "There is absolutely nothing that God asks of us that he doesn't also supply us with the gumption to do it."
The congregation shaped the final bottom line of the series together. Brian had proposed "where God's word is planted, a great reward is harvested," but the room pushed back, noting that a planted seed still needs tending, good soil, and time, and that a seed has to die in the ground before anything visible happens. Seasons of apparent deadness are part of the process, not evidence that something went wrong. The bottom line landed as: where God's word is planted, a great reward grows. That shift from "harvested" to "grows" carried the weight of the whole conversation, because it frames the word not as a transaction but as something alive and working even when you cannot see it yet.
