What does Tribe teach about grace?

At Tribe, the teaching on grace starts with what grace actually is: undeserved, freely given, with no regard to the recipient's merit. Brian has been clear that God does not work like Santa Claus, holding back good gifts until people have earned them. Grace is simply God's nature expressed toward people, and the Greek roots of the word point straight to that, connecting charis to charisma and landing on the same idea every time: this is a gift, not a wage.
The most sustained treatment of grace in these messages came through Ephesians 2, where Brian walked the congregation phrase by phrase through Paul's description of being made alive in Christ while still dead in sin, saved by grace through faith and not by works, so that no one can boast. He kept stopping to ask whether each phrase was inclusive or exclusive, and the answer he kept arriving at was that grace is radically inclusive in scope precisely because it is not earned. No one is disqualified by their past. At the same time, the door into that grace is not wide open by default. Drawing on James 4:6, Brian says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble," and he described pride as a door that stays locked. Humility is the key. As Brian put it, "humility is the key that unlocks the doors of God's grace."
Those two ideas sit together in the teaching here. Grace is vast and freely offered, but it is received through a posture, not assumed. Romans 10 captures both sides: "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" is as open as language allows, but there is one name. Inclusive in scope, exclusive in means. Brian has not tried to soften that tension. He has held both sides and argued that they are not in contradiction.
