At Tribe, the teaching on the Hamas attack starts with a conviction that Christians cannot afford to be spectators. He gave the room a plain account of what had happened, rockets into civilian areas, terror cells moving through towns, attackers descending on a music festival, and he named it not the powder keg itself but the lighting of a fuse. His consistent warning was that if believers do not come to these events with a biblical narrative already formed, they will be swept into someone else's. Brian says, "If we do not approach Israel with sobriety and a biblical narrative, we will reel and stagger and trip all over ourselves."
The theological ground under all of it runs through Romans 11 and Zechariah 12. Steve walked the congregation through how God's hardening of Israel was purposeful, making room for Gentiles to be grafted in, and how the new covenant itself was first made with the house of Israel before a single Gentile Christian existed. Brian took Zechariah 12, where Jerusalem is described as an intoxicating drink that causes surrounding nations to stagger, and used it to show that the confusion the attack produced across the world is a small picture of what Scripture says is coming on a far greater scale. The church's response is not panic but grounded confidence: Brian says, "It is in these seasons and these times that will begin to be our finest hour as the victorious church."
By March 2024, the teaching had deepened into the question of why Israel matters to God at all. Brian took the congregation into Ezekiel 16, where God describes Israel as an abandoned newborn, unwanted, umbilical cord uncut, and nobody to take her in. The point was deliberate: there is nothing intrinsically special about Israel that earns God's affection. God passes by anyway, says live, and raises her from nothing. Brian connected that arc directly to Zechariah 8:2, where God says his love for Mount Zion is passionate and strong, and he held that verse up as the non-negotiable baseline for how followers of Jesus should orient themselves toward Israel, regardless of what is happening on the ground.
