What does Tribe teach about humility?

At Tribe, the teaching on humility is rooted in a single conviction: pride is what keeps a person on the outside of God's grace, and humility is what opens the door. Brian Hunter drew this directly from James 4:6, which he attributed to James, the brother of Jesus: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." That sentence, Brian said, holds both sides at once. Pride is not just a personality flaw. It is the posture that locks the door.
Brian connected humility to the whole logic of how salvation works. Working through Ephesians 2, he pointed out that grace through faith, not works, means no one earns their way in and no one can boast. Every religion humans have invented asks people to climb toward God on their own. Jesus says that climb is impossible and has already done something about it. The person who comes in humility is not bringing anything to the table except the willingness to receive what has already been given. As Brian puts it, "Humility is the key that unlocks the doors of God's grace."
That framing matters for anyone wrestling with whether they are enough, or too far gone, or too proud of their own goodness to need any of this. The offer Brian described from Romans 10 is as wide open as language allows: everyone who calls on the name of the Lord. But it is only entered one way, through the same door, and the door opens with humility.
