Brian Hunter opened week seven of the Unbreakable series by grounding the whole conversation in Psalm 24:1, Daniel 4:35, and Leviticus 25:23. The point those three passages make together is straightforward: God owns the earth entirely, he does what he pleases with his own property and answers to no one, and even Israel itself held the land only as a tenant. That framework pushed the congregation to extend the same logic outward to everything they consider theirs, from their homes to their children to their breath.
From that foundation, Pastor Brian walked through a sequence of maps covering Abraham's journey from modern-day Iraq into Canaan, the promise in Genesis 15:18 of land from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates, the tribal allotments under Joshua, the period of Roman rule in Jesus's day, and then the modern history from the Ottoman Empire through the British Mandate, the 1947 UN resolution, the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, the Six Day War of 1967, and the Camp David and Oslo Accords. He noted that Israel did not fully obey the command to displace the peoples already in the land, and that the Philistines are one example of a group that remained and whose descendants are still present in the region. He also pointed out that Israel has repeatedly won territory in wars and then given it back in exchange for peace. Through all of it, Brian's argument was that the borders the nations draw matter far less than whose authority those borders stand under. As he put it, "Borders drawn without God are lines drawn against God."
Pastor Brian also brought the land question home to something personal. The ancient allotment and the modern conflict are not just geopolitical history; they are a picture of inheritance. He told the congregation, "My heart is that you would own and fully possess all that God has said belongs to you," and warned that resistance to claiming that inheritance is real: "That old dirty devil will try to cheat you out of land and say that that's too much to ask." The sermon held both realities together, the literal land God gave Israel and the spiritual territory God has given every believer in Christ.
