At Tribe, the teaching on October 7 starts with the conviction that the events of that day are not isolated news but are visible within a biblical pattern that has been unfolding for centuries. When Joel Richardson brought the message on January 6, 2025, he drew directly on his own grief over the preceding years and the horror of October 7 to argue that biblical prophecy is not abstract but is happening in real time. He made the case that the blessings and curses of the Mosaic covenant in Deuteronomy and Leviticus are specific: disobedience would bring sudden calamity, then exile, then eventual restoration to the land, and that anyone who knows those texts will find the events of October 7 striking. He said plainly, "Nothing has strengthened my faith more this year than watching what is the horror that is unfolding with Israel."
Joel also pressed the congregation on a question about cosmic stakes. The hostility toward the Jewish people, he argued, is not random and is not new. It connects to the Bible's central story of a fallen spiritual being whose only aim is to destroy what God has made and to cut off the lineage through which a Messiah was promised. He put it directly: "If God is done with Israel, someone forgot to tell the devil." That framing was meant to reorient how the congregation thinks about the hatred directed at Israel, not as a political conflict to have opinions about but as a confrontation with something much older and much larger.
The call at the end of that message was not to spectators. Joel asked the congregation to take stock of where they actually are right now, pointing out that how a person responds to this moment is probably how they would have responded in any other defining moment in history. He said, "Do you wanna know what you would do during World War Two? What are you doing right now? That's it." The invitation was to stand with the Jewish people, to intercede, and to remain engaged rather than check out.
