What does Tribe teach about salvation?

At Tribe, the teaching on salvation starts with the claim Jesus made in John 14:6 and takes it seriously rather than softening it. Brian Hunter walked the congregation through what it actually means that Jesus said he is the only way to the Father. Every religion humans have invented, he said, asks people to climb their way up to God. Jesus says that climb is impossible and has already done something about it. The exclusivity of the statement is not a problem to apologize for. It is inseparable from the clarity of the invitation, because Jesus does not just tell people they fall short and leave them there. He tells them exactly what the answer is and has already paid it.
The teaching in Ephesians 2 anchors what that payment looks like in practice. Salvation is by grace through faith, not by works, so that no one can boast. Brian returned to that word 'inclusive' as he read it, because the offer is thrown wide open. No one is disqualified by their past or by what they have failed to achieve. Romans 10 pressed the same point: 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved' is as wide open as language allows, but there is only one name. Inclusive in scope, exclusive in means. Brian said those two things are not in contradiction.
What stands between a person and that grace, he said, is pride. Pulling from James 4:6, Brian described pride as a door that stays locked. Brian says, "Humility is the key that unlocks the doors of God's grace." Once that door opens, the inside reads 'all are welcome.' The hardest work, on God's side, is already finished. The only thing required of a person is to stop insisting they can do it themselves and receive what has already been done.
