What does Tribe teach about sin and compromise?

At Tribe, the teaching on sin and compromise starts with a piece of bread. When Brian walked the congregation through Exodus 12 and the command to search every corner of the house for yeast before Passover, he was pointing at something Paul makes explicit in 1 Corinthians 5:6-8: a little yeast spreads through the whole batch of dough. Sin and compromise work exactly the same way, quietly expanding through everything until the whole is affected. Brian used the image of a mountain bike getting progressively muddier, that moment when you stop avoiding puddles because the bike is already dirty, to name how small compromise escalates. As he put it, "After the third puddle you hit, you're like, my bike's already muddy, I'm just gonna hit some more puddles."
The remedy Brian pointed to was not willpower but honest invitation. The same way God told Israel to search their entire home for yeast, Psalm 139 pictures the psalmist inviting God to search his heart and surface anything that needs to go. That posture, actively welcoming the Holy Spirit to point out what is hidden rather than hoping it stays small, is what Brian held up as the right response to compromise.
The teaching lands at the cross. Paul's letter names Jesus as the Passover lamb, and Brian was direct that no religious effort or tradition resolves the problem sin creates. "Only through the shed blood of Jesus are people allowed to have right relationship with God." The search for yeast in the home and the search for sin in the heart both point in the same direction: toward the blood that was applied to the doorframe, and toward the communion table where Christians step across that threshold today.
