What does Tribe teach about sons of god?

At Tribe, the teaching on sons of God starts with a distinction that Dr. Laura Sanger drew carefully from Romans 8:14. Being a child of God and being a son of God are not the same thing. The Greek word translated 'led' in that verse carries the image of a rope around an animal's neck, a total and ongoing surrender to wherever the Spirit directs. As Dr. Laura put it, 'He didn't say, Those who go to church are the sons of God. The criteria is those who are led by the Spirit.' Sons and daughters of God, in this teaching, are those so fully yielded that they do not speak, act, or move on their own initiative. Jesus himself is the model: John 14:10 and John 12:49-50 both show him saying that the words he speaks are the Father's, not his own.
To map the path toward that kind of maturity, Dr. Laura introduced three Greek terms: napios for spiritual infants, paidion for children still in training, and huios for the sons of God. Infants, she said from 1 Corinthians 3, are still worldly, prone to jealousy and division, and easily deceived by false teaching. Children are often more drawn to the performative side of church than to genuinely hosting God's presence. Sons of God feed on the deep things of Scripture, know and use their spiritual gifts, and carry the presence of Christ with them. Dr. Laura described her own longing this way: 'I want the aroma of Christ to be so thick on me that it literally impacts the people next to me.'
A central warning in this teaching is that mixture, being shaped more by culture than by Scripture, or acting from good intentions rather than a clear yes from the Spirit, keeps believers stuck at an earlier stage. Dr. Laura shared from her own experience how well-meaning actions driven by the soul rather than the Spirit still amount to following one's own will. Her point was blunt: 'Good intentions actually leads to death.' The call at Tribe is to move past spiritual infancy and into the full surrender that marks a son or daughter of God, grounded in the reality that Jesus has already won the seed war of Genesis 3 and Colossians 2:15.
