What does Tribe teach about spiritual frequency?

At Tribe, the teaching on spiritual frequency starts with a single word in 1 John 1:1. Brian Hunter noticed that the Greek word behind 'touched' carries two pictures at once: the worn smoothness of a worry stone rubbed over and over in the hand, and the plucking or bowing of a string on an instrument. That second picture became the lens for the whole message. Working through the terms frequency, resonance, sympathetic resonance, and harmonic resonance, Pastor Brian made the case that followers of Jesus are not meant to admire him from a safe distance. They were made to be in real, physical, tangible contact with him, tuned to him the way a string is tuned to a note.

The musical vocabulary was not decoration. It was set directly against a run of scripture. John 10:27 became a verse about harmonic resonance: the sheep follow because they are already vibrating at the same frequency as the shepherd's voice. Galatians 5:25 described what staying tuned to that frequency looks like in daily life. Second Corinthians 3:18 named the long, slow process of a person's natural frequency coming into alignment with Christ's, a Christ who does not change. Brian says, 'When we tune our hearts to Jesus, our whole being begins to resonate with his life.' The road-to-Emmaus account in Luke 24 brought it together: the disciples had spent time with Jesus and something had been set vibrating in them long before they recognized who he was.

Pastor Brian was honest that most people are somewhere in the middle. He put it plainly: 'We all need tuning because we're somewhere in between a stool and the cello.' That image came from a live demonstration with a cello. A bow drawn across a wooden stool produces almost nothing. A bow drawn across a cello fills a room. The difference is not effort but design and resonance. The teaching also addressed sound bowls directly, grounding the conversation in Genesis 1: frequency and vibration originate with God's own creative speech, so sound itself is not the concern. The concern is more specific to what those objects are often associated with. The invitation throughout was to close the distance, to handle and be handled, and to let continued contact with Jesus do what sympathetic resonance does naturally.
