What does Tribe teach about who is god?

At Tribe, the teaching on who God is starts with an honest look at how small our picture of Him tends to be. Brian Sauvé has described how many people, himself included for a long time, imagine the spiritual universe as something like a yin and yang symbol, God on one side and Satan on the other, two roughly equal forces in endless conflict. If that picture is accurate, he pointed out, then God is not all that impressive. A hero who wins more than he loses is not obviously great.
Brian works to stretch that picture by showing what the Bible actually describes. The Hebrew word Elohim covers a broad category of spiritual beings, not just God himself, and includes angels, demons, seraphim, cherubim and others. God at some point delegated jurisdictional authority over nations to some of these lesser spiritual beings, and those beings corrupted their role by drawing human worship toward themselves rather than toward Yahweh. The gods of history were not simply products of human imagination. They had real influence. They shaped cultures. And they failed the assignment. Holding God up against everything else that has ever claimed divine status, Brian says, makes the contrast almost impossible to overstate. As he put it, "He has no end, but he also never had a beginning. He stands outside of space and time."
The reason Brian spends time on all of this is not to unsettle people but to help them feel the weight of something they already believe in their heads. The God who dwarfs every other spiritual being in the cosmos is not distant or indifferent. Brian says, "Not only does he not keep you at arm's distance, but he longs to draw close to you." That is the point the teaching keeps returning to: the incomparable greatness of God and his desire to be near are not in tension with each other. They belong together.
