At Tribe, the teaching on the blood of Christ is rooted in the Passover account of Exodus 12. Brian walked the congregation through the first Passover night and showed that the blood on the doorpost was not simply a shield keeping destruction at a distance. Drawing on the Hebrew word pesach and its image of a mother bird hovering protectively over a nest, the teaching held that God was actively present at those marked houses, not just standing guard outside them.
Brian added a layer from Tribe's time in Leviticus. In the Old Testament sacrificial system, when a person laid hands on the head of an animal, they were transferring something of their own identity into that animal. The blood that followed carried that life into the holy of holies, where it could meet God's presence. That background shaped how Brian read the Passover blood: it functioned less like a barrier and more like a portal, an opening through which God's presence could enter the house rather than merely protect it from the outside.
The connection to the blood of Jesus, drawn from Ephesians 2:13 and Hebrews 9:22, carried that same movement forward. The central claim of the message was that God does not only shield his people from harm; he fills them from within. The blood of Christ, in Tribe's teaching, is what makes that inner filling possible.
