What does Tribe teach about busyness?
Drawn from the message where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At Tribe, the teaching on busyness starts with a question most people never think to ask: what if the relentless pace of your life is not just stress, but a yoke someone put on you on purpose? Brian walked the congregation through Exodus 5, where Pharaoh responds to Moses by burying the Israelites under more work and cutting off their supplies. The point Pharaoh made explicit was that if the people stayed exhausted enough, they would stop listening to anything else. Brian let that land before drawing the line straight to the present. The evidence that we are living under the same system, he said, is not clay under our fingernails. As Brian puts it, "The evidence is found in our credit card statement, in our calendar, which is so full of things, and in our prescriptions for depression and anxiety." The world, he taught, enslaves people in the name of productivity the same way Pharaoh did.
The answer Tribe holds out is not a productivity hack or a simpler schedule. It is the restfulness Jesus actually offers, set against the restlessness the world keeps trying to reload onto our necks. Brian was careful not to promise that following Jesus makes life easier or less complicated. But he drew on Matthew 11:29-30 to make a distinction that matters: "Following Jesus doesn't make your life easier or simpler. But it certainly gets a whole lot lighter." That lightness is what the Passover feast is meant to rehearse, recalibrate toward, and remember.
Tribe observes the Lord's feasts partly for this reason. Brian described them as God's family traditions, repeated year after year because they mean something, and said the congregation marks them to stay oriented when everything around them is spinning. When Pharaoh's system is always running in the background, having a regular rhythm of remembering what God has already done is itself an act of resistance.

From Restfulness vs. Restlessness
The passage taught · Exodus 12:1-14
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
2 “This month shall be to you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year to you.
3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth day of this month, they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household;
4 and if the household is too little for a lamb, then he and his neighbor next to his house shall take one according to the number of the souls; according to what everyone can eat you shall make your count for the lamb.
