What does Tribe teach about clarity in chaos?

At Tribe, the teaching on clarity in chaos starts with a conviction Brian brought into 2024: that as the world grows exponentially more complex, God simultaneously makes an unusual measure of clarity available to those whose hearts are positioned to receive it. This is not framed as a promise that hard things will stop coming. The claim is almost the opposite. As Brian puts it, "there will never ever ever ever be a problem that comes your way that god doesn't attach one of his beautiful transformative promises." The people who only see the complexity, the teaching goes, miss the promise that is attached to it.

The series worked through that idea in layers across several weeks. Clarity comes through simplicity, then through worship, then through simple obedience, then through stepping away from noise. A fifth thread, added in February, was that clarity grows specifically out of intimacy with Jesus. Brian drew this from two Gospel scenes where a woman with an alabaster flask was the only person in the room, besides Jesus himself, who actually understood what was happening. The disciples were physically present and still missed it entirely, which led to one of the sharpest lines in the series: "Proximity does not necessarily equal intimacy." Being near Jesus is not the same as knowing him, and it is the knowing that produces clarity.

The congregation at Tribe worked through all of this together, reading passages aloud, passing a microphone around the room, and naming what they saw in the text before conclusions were handed to them. The recurring pattern that kept surfacing, from Luke 24 through the prophetic texts and into the Gospel scenes, is that clarity in scripture is rarely brand new information. It is existing truth becoming visible in a new way, often in the middle of confusion, and almost always in the context of proximity to Jesus rather than distance from him.
