What does Tribe teach about comfort?

At Tribe, the teaching on comfort starts with the word itself. Brian preached that the English sense of the word, being soothed until the difficulty goes away, is not quite what the Bible means. The deeper meaning is closer to being fortified and made strong. That distinction matters, because God's pattern in Scripture is less often to remove a hard thing and more often to equip someone to stand inside it.
Brian offered that shift as a rough marker of Christian maturity. Moving from praying that God would fix a situation to praying for the strength to endure it is not a resignation or a lowering of expectations. It is a more honest reading of how God has always dealt with his people, and it is the kind of comfort that actually holds when circumstances do not change.
The sermon drew that thread through Luke 21, a passage that can feel frightening on its face. Brian's point was that Jesus gives his followers an honest picture of difficulty precisely so they will not be caught off guard, and that the call in verse 28, to stand and look up, is addressed to people who are still in the middle of the storm, not people who have been lifted out of it. That posture, endurance marked by worship rather than escape, is what Brian set before the congregation as the shape of biblical comfort.
