What does Tribe teach about community support?

At Tribe, the teaching on community support is rooted in what happened on the hill at Rephidim. Brian Hunter draws from Exodus 17 to show that Moses could not hold his arms up alone, and when he could not, Aaron and Hur came alongside him and held them up for him. The victory in the valley below did not belong to Joshua's fighting arm alone. It belonged to that hill, to those three men together. Brian points out that Moses' outstretched arms were a posture of surrender, and that the people around him made it possible to sustain that posture when his own strength gave out.

What the teaching pulls forward from that story is the connection between one person's obedience and another person's breakthrough. As Brian says, "Your obedience in one area unlocks victory in another area." Aaron and Hur were not fighting. They were holding up tired arms on a hillside, and that act of presence and faithfulness kept the tide from turning below. The implication for the community is that showing up for someone else, even in a quiet and unglamorous way, is not a side role. It is part of how the battle is won.

The backdrop to all of this, in both messages, is that support from others matters most precisely when life has just gone sideways without warning. Brian ties that pattern to John 16:33, where Jesus says plainly that trouble will come. The Amalekites arrived the moment Israel's thirst was finally quenched and the children were playing in the water. That timing is the pattern. Tribe's teaching holds that the community is not an optional comfort but part of how God designed people to endure and move forward when the unexpected hits.
