What does Tribe teach about complexity and faith?

At Tribe, the teaching on complexity and faith starts with an honest acknowledgment that complexity is not going away. In the Clarity in Complexity series, Brian opened by naming a sense that 2024 would cross a kind of threshold, a line after which things do not simply return to the way they were. He did not predict a specific event, but he placed a question in front of the congregation: when complexity increases, do you press into it looking for clarity, or do you retreat into numbness and distraction? That question set the frame for everything that followed.
The answer Brian kept returning to was not a technique or a formula. It was a pattern he traced through scripture: God tends to place his clearest moments of revelation right inside the sharpest pain. The burning bush, read carefully in its original language, turns out to be a thorny thorn bush, the very same word used in Deuteronomy 33 for the place where God dwells when he blesses Joseph's family. Moses was not a Sunday school figure standing in a pleasant meadow. He was an eighty-year-old man on the run from a murder charge, carrying shame, tending someone else's sheep in the desert. Brian says, "God often places clarity right in the midst of great pain." The bush was not separate from the wilderness. It was burning inside it.
Brian also named the cost honestly. Most people want the kind of clarity Moses received at that bush, but as he put it, "We all want the burning bush. But few of us would like to skip the pain part." The teaching does not promise that complexity will be resolved quickly or painlessly. It holds that the complexity itself is often the very place where God shows up, and that faithfulness with ordinary, even borrowed things, tends to come before any of that clarity arrives.
