What does Tribe teach about feast of unleavened bread?

At Tribe, the teaching on the Feast of Unleavened Bread starts with the Jewish tradition itself. The father of the home would walk room by room with a candle, a feather, and a wooden spoon, searching out every trace of yeast before Passover and burning what he found. Brian Hunter uses that picture to ask a harder question: how do Christians actually live free from sin, not just believe they are? Leaven in scripture represents sin, and Jesus himself expands that to include hypocrisy and anything in the heart that is not of God. The old covenant placed the entire burden of removal on the person doing the searching.

Brian points out that trying to fight sin by focusing all your energy on finding and eliminating it tends to backfire, the same way telling yourself not to think about something keeps it front and center. What the New Testament shows instead is what Jesus already accomplished. He canceled the record of charges, carried sin in his body on the cross, and removed it in a way Brian describes as pulling yeast out of an already-baked loaf, something that should be impossible. The Greek phrasing, he explains, means out from the midst of, a complete separation of a person's sin from their identity as a son or daughter. As John 8:34-36 puts it, Brian says, "If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed."

The teaching is honest about the gap people feel between that truth and daily life. The conversation in the room worked through Romans 7, where Paul says he does the very things he does not want to do, and landed on the idea that sin no longer defines a believer's identity or their standing in the family, even though the body still falls short in a fallen world. Brian identifies the enemy's remaining weapon after the cross as deception, getting believers to forget what has already been done for them. As he puts it, "The enemy likes to get us to forget that we have no obligation to obey the voice of the enemy whatsoever." The whole aim of the teaching is what Brian names plainly: "I want you to live free so bad, and I want you to represent the person who you claim to follow."
