What does Tribe teach about filled with spirit?

At Tribe, the teaching on being filled with the Spirit starts with a distinction that cuts through a lot of confusion. When a person gets saved, the Holy Spirit takes up full residence in them, not a piece of him or a lesser measure. Pastor Brian pushed back gently on the common phrase 'spirit-filled church,' pointing out that if you are a Christian, the Holy Spirit already lives in you. The real question is not whether he is in you but whether you have given him room to work. As Brian puts it, 'When I get saved, the Holy Spirit lives in me, but he awaits for me to give him permission to operate through me.'
To explain why a believer can still feel pulled toward old patterns even after the Spirit moves in, Brian used the image of two operating systems running side by side. Salvation installs a new and better one, but it does not erase the old one. A person still chooses, daily, which one they live out of. Romans 7 was central here, with Paul describing the same tension: wanting to do good and finding himself doing what he hates. The Spirit's role is not to override a person against their will but to be the power source they keep choosing to run on.
The why behind all of this matters too. Brian drew from Ephesians 1:17 to show that the Spirit gives wisdom and genuine knowledge of God, so a person grows rather than cycling through the same failures. He also made the point that the Spirit's life flowing through a believer will matter more as pressure on Christians increases. The foundation underneath all of it, drawn from Luke 11:11-13, is that God is a good father giving a good gift. Fear or suspicion toward the Holy Spirit has no footing there.
