What does Tribe teach about leviticus jesus?

At Tribe, the teaching on Leviticus and Jesus starts with a simple but striking claim. Renee, a Tribe member who has been part of the church since it began, put it this way: "God is always writing us a love letter. And in Leviticus today is where I'm going to attempt to reveal his love letter to us." The argument is that the dense regulations and rituals of Leviticus are not a detour away from the gospel but a detailed preview of it, and that Jesus is not merely alluded to in the book but is present all the way through its specific requirements.
Renee walked through the prescribed animals one by one and showed where each one lands in the New Testament. The young bull of Leviticus 1 connects to the golden calf Israel built in the wilderness, and then to Jesus in Matthew 11 who takes on a yoke, the instrument of an ox, and calls people to rest under it. The lamb without blemish is the same animal John the Baptist points to in John 1. The ram of Genesis 22 caught in the thicket is the same male sheep allowed for the burnt offering. The doves and pigeons available to those too poor to bring larger animals are the form the Holy Spirit took at Jesus' baptism. Even the burning of animal organs, which pagan cultures used to read for divine guidance, is reframed in Leviticus as God closing the door on every false way of seeking him. The altar where the priest splattered blood becomes a symbol of what Jesus has now done to human hearts directly.
The teaching also pressed into what holiness means in this context. Working through 1 John 1:5, 1 Peter 1:15-16, and 2 Peter 1:2-4, Renee brought the congregation to the point that holiness is a perfection none of us can produce on our own, which is exactly why the sacrificial system pointed forward to someone who could. The call to be holy as God is holy, issued in Leviticus 11:44-45 and repeated in 1 Peter, lands differently once it is understood that the mechanism for that holiness has already been provided.
