What does Tribe teach about reading the bible?

At Tribe, the teaching on reading the Bible starts with a simple but demanding claim: Scripture is the most recognizable way God speaks, and learning to hear it is a skill built through time, not a gift handed to some and withheld from others. Pastor Brian Hunter made this the center of a message on Father's Day, drawing on passages from 2 Timothy, 2 Peter, Romans, and the Psalms to show what the Bible actually does in a person's life. It teaches, warns, corrects, and equips. It carries what Brian called mega and precious promises, but he was careful to add that those promises are not automatic. As he put it, "The promises of God are always guaranteed, but they are not automatic." You have to take hold of them, which is another way of saying you have to be in the word regularly enough to know they are there.
Brian described the morning after he gave his life to Christ as a high school sophomore, riding home from camp with a Bible he had owned for years. He opened it and it felt completely different, alive in a way it had never been before. He connected that shift to the work of the Holy Spirit, and to what happens when familiarity with Scripture grows over time. The illustration he used was a pile of climbing ropes: most people cannot tell them apart, but someone who has spent real time handling ropes can distinguish them by feel alone. Recognizing God's voice works the same way.
The question Brian left the congregation sitting with was direct: "Has God's word left a mark on your life?" The closing question is not abstract. It is meant to be personal, a prompt to examine whether the Bible is something you carry or something that is actually shaping how you see and live.
