What does Tribe teach about remembering god's faithfulness?

At Tribe, the teaching on remembering God's faithfulness starts with a simple but sharp observation from Psalm 78. The warriors of Ephraim were fully armed with bows and still turned back in battle, and the text gives the reason two verses later: they forgot. Brian Hunter draws a direct line from that ancient retreat to the way people face hard seasons today. Being equipped is not enough if you have lost your grip on what God has already done. As Brian puts it, "When you remember, it is a weapon."
The annual Tribe tradition called Pecky Day grew out of this conviction. Brian and Lissa started it in their own family years before Tribe existed, keeping a physical board at home where they pin reminders of specific moments when God came through. When Tribe launched, they folded the congregation into that tradition. The name comes from a 2007 story from a small apartment in Tulsa, when the family was hundreds of dollars short with no apparent way to close the gap, and a lost tropical bird the kids named Pecky led to the exact amount they needed arriving in Lissa's hand. Brian notes that the provision did not simply fall from the sky. There were steps of obedience before the money appeared, and the reward was, as Brian recalled, "The exact amount that we were short that month."
The teaching reaches back further than the Hunter family story, though. Brian walks Tribe through the moment God brought water out of a rock in the wilderness, asking why God would choose that method out of all the options available to him. The answer is that water from a rock admits no other explanation. Every other option leaves room for a human contribution. That miracle, and every moment of specific provision that follows it, is meant to be kept and recalled. Habakkuk prays for God to help again as he did in years gone by, and Brian's point is straightforward: you cannot ask God to do it again if you have not kept a record of the first time.
