What does Tribe teach about ruling with jesus?

At Tribe, the teaching on ruling with Jesus starts with a straightforward reading of scripture: the reward God's people receive when Jesus returns is not a spiritual prize or eternal retirement but real, governmental authority. Brian Hunter draws this out of the parable of the talents in Luke 19, where the faithful servant is given authority over ten cities, and from Revelation 20, which describes believers seated on thrones with authority to judge during a literal thousand-year reign of Jesus on earth. Brian is clear that Tribe holds a pre-millennial position on this, meaning that reign is still ahead, and that it cannot be underway in any physical sense because Jesus has not yet returned.
Isaiah 9 and Isaiah 11 fill out the picture. Brian points out that most people read those passages only at Christmas and miss their full weight. He describes a right-now fulfillment, Jesus is already king of kings, and a not-yet fulfillment, the day he literally governs the nations, mediating, disciplining, deciding in ways that are nothing like how the nations currently operate. That coming reign is marked by righteousness and meekness, and the people who will share in it are being shaped for it now by how they live and what they surrender to.
That connection between now and then is where the teaching lands with the most weight. Romans 8 describes creation itself groaning and waiting for God's children to be revealed, and Brian reads that as a signal that the new assignment is not abstract. It includes helping to renew the earth, rebuilding what has broken down, and governing under Jesus in ways that reflect his character rather than the ruthlessness of current world powers. The tension between being called to meekness and being called to stand firm is one Brian does not try to dissolve. He describes a test for when to plant a flag: personal conviction, clear biblical standards, and specific direction from the Holy Spirit all need to converge. Any one of those on its own, he says, can lead to arrogance or harm. When all three line up, that is territory worth holding.
