What does Tribe teach about self worth?

At Tribe, the teaching on self-worth starts with a single claim Brian returns to again and again: only the creator has the authority to define his creation. That foundation is not a self-help idea. It comes out of Isaiah 29:16, where the prophet asks whether the clay has any right to tell the potter he did not make it. Brian's point is that the label God puts on a person is the one that holds, regardless of what a person believes about themselves or what their circumstances seem to confirm.
Brian works this out through the story of Gideon, who is hiding in a winepress when the angel of the Lord greets him as a mighty man of valor. Gideon had no resume. He called his clan the weakest in Manasseh and himself the least in his family, and none of that was exactly wrong. But Brian draws a distinction between the level of truth Gideon was operating on and the level God was operating on, using the image of a plane lifting off: gravity does not stop working, but a higher law overrides it. God was not flattering Gideon. He was speaking from a higher level of truth about who Gideon actually was.
Brian is also honest about why this is hard to receive. If God is creator, then his creation is responsible to him, and pride resists that accountability. The reflex, he says, is to become your own god, to write your own name on the bottom of the shoe rather than acknowledge whose name is already there. The teaching at Tribe pushes back on that reflex with the same question Brian says God asked Gideon: what if the identity God speaks over you is the truest thing about you, more true than your fear or your history or your own self-assessment?
