What does Tribe teach about sharing faith?

At Tribe, the teaching on sharing faith starts with an honest look at what darkness actually does to people. Drawing from the plague of Exodus 10, where a thick darkness settled over Egypt and people simply stopped moving, Brian described the same pattern at work now. The tendency, he said, is that darkness causes people to become immobilized. They retreat, they withdraw, they disengage. That paralysis is not just something happening out in the culture. It quietly takes hold in individual hearts too, and it is one of the main reasons people stop carrying their faith outward toward others.
The answer Brian pointed to was not a program or a technique but a person. In John 8:12, Jesus said plainly, 'I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness because you will have the light that leads to life.' Brian noted a quiet detail in that verse: even when the light is present, walking in darkness remains a choice. The invitation to share faith flows directly from that reality. And rather than treating the growing darkness around us as a reason to pull back, Brian framed it the opposite way. As he put it, 'As this present age gets darker and darker, all it does is cause the illumination of the beauty of Emmanuel, God with us, to shine all the brighter.'
The practical challenge Brian left the congregation with was concrete and close to home: be the light to someone around you this week. Matthew 5:14-16 places that responsibility on every person who has received the light, not just those with a platform or a particular gift. The teaching at Tribe holds that sharing faith is less about having the right words and more about staying engaged rather than retreating, and letting what is true about Jesus become visible in ordinary life.
