What does Tribe teach about sin and compromise?

At Tribe, the teaching on sin and compromise starts with a simple image from yeast. When Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 5:6-8 that a little yeast spreads through the whole batch of dough, he is naming something most people already know from experience: small compromises do not stay small. Brian used the image of a mountain bike getting progressively muddier, that moment when you stop avoiding the puddles because the bike is already dirty, to show how this works in a person's life. The first small thing you allow changes your calculus about the next one, and before long the whole batch has been affected. This is exactly why God told Israel to search every corner of their homes for yeast before Passover. It was not just a practical instruction. It was a picture of what honest self-examination costs.
Brian connected that command to Psalm 139, where the psalmist invites God to search his heart and point out anything offensive. The posture being modeled there is not self-flagellation but honesty, a willingness to let the Holy Spirit surface whatever needs to go rather than making peace with its presence. The Passover feast framed that search within a larger story: the blood on the doorframe was the thing that actually dealt with the problem. No amount of searching, cleaning, or religious effort gets a person into right standing with God. As Brian put it, "Only through the shed blood of Jesus are people allowed to have right relationship with God."
The teaching holds those two things together. Sin and compromise are taken seriously enough to be searched out, not minimized or tolerated. But the remedy is not human effort. The blood on the threshold is what covers the household. Hyssop, which appears in Psalm 51 as the instrument of cleansing and again at the crucifixion, carried the blood to the doorframe then and points to the same source of cleansing now.
