What does Tribe teach about sin and redemption?

At Tribe, the teaching on sin and redemption starts with the garden. Pastor Brian has described sin not as a minor moral failure but as a condition that infected the whole human race the moment humanity chose independence from God. Brian says, "This condition of sin that has infected all of us is terminal, resulting in death, separation forever from God's family." Even so, the same moment that introduced sin also introduced a promise: that one was coming who would crush the head of evil.
That promise carried all the way to the cross. In the Easter teaching, Brian walked through Psalm 22 to show that what looked like total defeat at Calvary was something else entirely. The powers arrayed against Jesus, what David described as fierce bulls of Bashan, came out into the open because they believed they had won. Brian says, "The cross was not the triumph of darkness, but the judgment of it." Those powers locked horns with the one who would chip those horns, and the resurrection was the proof that they had lost.
The picture Tribe returns to is an exchange. Jesus, who lived without sin, died a criminal's death and shed his blood to pay for sin, making it possible for God and humanity to be reunited as family. His victory over sin and death is not kept at a distance. It is available to anyone willing to receive it, including anyone who feels, as Brian put it, surrounded by fierce bulls of Bashan right now with no way out, no help, and no hope.
