Scripture referenced

The passage this message was preached from, in full, with every other passage it reached for.

  • Exodus 30:22-33 read aloud to describe the sacred anointing oil and its consecrating power

22 Moreover Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

    23 “Also take fine spices: of liquid myrrh, five hundred shekels; and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, even two hundred and fifty; and of fragrant cane, two hundred and fifty;

24 and of cassia five hundred, after the shekel of the sanctuary; and a hin of olive oil.

25 You shall make it into a holy anointing oil, a perfume compounded after the art of the perfumer: it shall be a holy anointing oil.

26 You shall use it to anoint the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the testimony,

27 the table and all its articles, the lamp stand and its accessories, the altar of incense,

28 the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin with its base.

29 You shall sanctify them, that they may be most holy. Whatever touches them shall be holy.

30 You shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and sanctify them, that they may minister to me in the priest’s office.

31 You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to me throughout your generations.

32 It shall not be poured on man’s flesh, and do not make any like it, according to its composition. It is holy. It shall be holy to you.

33 Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on a stranger, he shall be cut off from his people.’”

Isaiah 32

read in full as a prophecy about a righteous king, the pouring out of the Spirit, and future restoration

1 Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in justice.

2 A man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the storm, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a large rock in a weary land.

3 The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.

4 The heart of the rash will understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.

5 The fool will no longer be called noble, nor the scoundrel be highly respected.

6 For the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice profanity, and to utter error against Yahweh, To make empty the soul of the hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

7 The ways of the scoundrel are evil. He devises wicked plans to destroy the humble with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.

8 But the noble devises noble things; and he will continue in noble things.

9 Rise up, you women who are at ease! Hear my voice! You careless daughters, give ear to my speech!

10 For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women; for the vintage shall fail. The harvest won’t come.

11 Tremble, you women who are at ease! Be troubled, you careless ones! Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked, and put sackcloth on your waist.

12 Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.

13 Thorns and briers will come up on my people’s land; yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.

14 For the palace will be forsaken. The populous city will be deserted. The hill and the watchtower will be for dens forever, a delight for wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks;

15 Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is considered a forest.

16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness; and righteousness will remain in the fruitful field.

17 The work of righteousness will be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.

18 My people will live in a peaceful habitation, in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

19 Though hail flattens the forest, and the city is leveled completely.

20 Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out the feet of the ox and the donkey.

Acts 2

referenced as the fulfillment of the Spirit being poured out after Jesus died and rose

1 Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.

4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.

5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under the sky.

6 When this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own language.

7 They were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Behold, aren’t all these who speak Galileans?

8 How do we hear, everyone in our own native language?

9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia,

10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

11 Cretans and Arabians: we hear them speaking in our languages the mighty works of God!”

12 They were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

13 Others, mocking, said, “They are filled with new wine.”

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke out to them, “You men of Judea, and all you who dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words.

15 For these aren’t drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is only the third hour of the day.

16 But this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel:

17 ‘It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams.

18 Yes, and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days, I will pour out my Spirit, and they will prophesy.

19 I will show wonders in the sky above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and billows of smoke.

20 The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 It will be that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words! Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him among you, even as you yourselves know,

23 him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed;

24 whom God raised up, having freed him from the agony of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it.

25 For David says concerning him, ‘I saw the Lord always before my face, For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved.

26 Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope;

27 because you will not leave my soul in Hades, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay.

28 You made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of gladness with your presence.’

29 “Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,

31 he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul wasn’t left in Hades, and his flesh didn’t see decay.

32 This Jesus God raised up, to which we all are witnesses.

33 Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear.

34 For David didn’t ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit by my right hand,

35 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’

36 “Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”

40 With many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”

41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. There were added that day about three thousand souls.

42 They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer.

43 Fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

44 All who believed were together, and had all things in common.

45 They sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, according as anyone had need.

46 Day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 praising God, and having favor with all the people. The Lord added to the assembly day by day those who were being saved.

Revelation 5:9-10

read aloud to connect the theme of believers made a kingdom and priests to serve God and reign on earth

9 They sang a new song, saying, “You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals: for you were killed, and bought us for God with your blood, out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,

10 and made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign on the earth.”

Recap

The message in order, in a few minutes of reading.

Brian opened this service from the TMC by stepping away from the ongoing new wine series to share two scripture passages and a dream he had the night before. The passages were Exodus 30 and Isaiah 32, and the congregation worked through them together, looking for a common thread. That thread turned out to be anointing, consecration, and what it means to carry a royal identity as sons and daughters of the king.

What was said

The reading from Exodus 30 introduced a recipe for a sacred anointing oil that was strictly set apart. Nothing like it could be made for ordinary use, and anyone who wore it without authorization was to be cut off from the people. What made this oil unusual, Brian noted, was that under normal circumstances a consecrated thing that touches something ordinary becomes ordinary. With this oil it worked the other way around: whatever touched it became holy.

From there the group moved to Isaiah 32. Brian set up the reading by asking everyone to put on what he called their prophecy glasses, meaning the primary question to ask of any prophetic text is about fulfillment. Has it happened, is it happening now, or is it still to come. He said the honest answer is sometimes all three at once, and Isaiah 32 is that kind of text.

Working through the chapter together, the congregation pulled out several threads. Verse one, a righteous king coming to reign, was identified as pointing to Jesus. Brian encouraged the group to read the word princes or rulers as leaders, since all of them lead someone, even if that someone is only themselves. One person brought in Revelation 5:9-10, where those purchased by Christ's blood are made a kingdom of priests who will reign on the earth, stitching the two passages together tightly.

Verse 15, where the spirit is poured out from on high and the wilderness becomes a fertile field, became a focal point. Brian said this verse has a past fulfillment in Acts chapter two, a present reality in the life of the church, and a future fulfillment in the millennial reign of Jesus that is still to come. One member of the congregation connected that outpouring of the spirit directly back to the Exodus passage, noting that the anointing oil consecrated whatever it touched, and the spirit does the same thing to those who receive it.

Brian then shared the dream. He was standing on top of a large hill made of twisted rebar, broken concrete, tank treads, and shattered glass. He knew people were buried in it. He had a flask of thick, honey-like oil, and as he poured it out it ran into every crack and crevice, the hill dissolved beneath him, and the people who had been trapped in the wreckage drank it in and were revived. He said he woke up uncertain of the full interpretation but felt the Lord clearly prompt him to anoint the hands of anyone who would receive it during the service.

The ministry time that followed drew together everything from the morning. Lissa shared a picture of the kings from the Chronicles of Narnia, covered in vines and mostly asleep, still wearing their royal garments but unable to function in their identity until something broke the vines off them. She said the word she kept hearing was untangle, specifically the idea of untangling hurt, trauma, and hardship from a person's identity. She prayed that the anointing would do exactly that, because the hurt does not change who someone is called to be, only slows them down.

Brian closed by framing the whole service around what he called the responsibilities of royalty. Rights and privileges come with the identity, he said, but so does a responsibility, as one member put it, to be a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm to the people around you. Whether that looks like a family situation, a workplace conflict, or interceding for nations like Georgia and Syria, whose situations he briefly described, the anointing is given so that it can be poured out.

Doing a Bible study?

Here is a guide we have prepared for you: the passages in order, questions for the group, and room to write.

  1. Brian walked through how knowing the genre of a biblical book, who wrote it, who it was written to, and when it was written can change how much you get out of reading it. Where in your own Bible reading have you felt lost, and how might some of that background information have helped?
  2. The group noticed that in Exodus 30 the anointing oil worked differently from the usual rule, where instead of the holy thing becoming ordinary, anything that touched the anointed objects became holy. Where in your life have you seen someone carrying something of God that seemed to lift the people around them rather than being dragged down?

For how many of you, this is the first time that you've been to the TMC? You're in the TMC. Tide Ministry Center. Okay. Alright.

So, is it Chris? Chris. Got it. I'm Brian.

Yeah.

Hey, man. Is this your first time? Yeah. Alright. Okay.

Chris. And y'all have been here before? I was kinda wondering if I would see your hands, okay? Back. Oh, yeah.

VIP section. Mhmm. Yep. Yep. You graduated.

Yeah. The main room. Yeah. Welcome to main service at big church. So this is the TMC.

This is where tribe met during COVID for about two years. Right? Mhmm. We own all 1,200 square feet of this space, which is a great blessing, and it's gonna be an amazing it's an amazing nest egg for tribe and what we do in the future, however, the Lord directs us. And today, what I thought we would do is we're gonna we're gonna switch it up just a little bit.

We've been talking about this idea of new wine, and we've been defining terms, new wine, new wineskin, what those terms mean, how they relate and apply to our lives, what does Jesus have for us when he uses that term, And we're going to continue that series next week. But today, we're gonna take a little bit of a departure. We're gonna read two passages, and then I'd like to share with you a dream that I had last night. And and then we will we'll unpack those things together. How does that sound?

So if you have your bible with you this morning, would you please turn to the book of Exodus? That's the first place we're gonna start. And I love to preload you with a question. Right? So here's what I want you to be looking for as we read two different passages.

What I want you to be looking for is what is the common theme or element that ties these two passages together. So the first passage is in Exodus chapter 30. And would somebody please read verse 22 through 33 and we don't have a mic in the room but it's okay.

It's really okay, isn't it?

There's a lot that's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. So when when Lisa and I several years ago, our family was in Mongolia and we met this guy, Bosca, who took us around parts of Ulaanbaatar.

And for whatever reason, every time we were with Bosca, we had no translator. I I don't know. I just always ended up we had no translator. And we would and his English was was like like just so we would try to like talk to him very simple. Had no we spoke zero Mongolian.

And we would say, Baska, can you take us to the dump?

And he'd go, no. No. No.

No. No. It's okay. So are we gonna go to the dump or no? No.

No. No. No. It's okay. And then

we would go to the dump.

And ask him, we need a first aid kit. No. No. No. It's okay.

It's okay. It's okay.

Yeah. It's okay. Yeah. It's That never happened, my dear. Exodus chapter 30.

Who would like to begin? You don't have to read all of it. You can read a few verses and pass it off starting in verse 22. Let it go.

Then the Lord said to Moses, take the following fine spices, 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much, that is 250 shekels Mhmm. Of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant calamus, 500 shekels of cassia, all according to the sanctuary's shekel, and a hen of olive oil. Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil. Then use it to anoint the tent of meaning, the ark of the covenant law, the table, and all its articles, the lampstand, and its accessories, the altar of incense.

Where did you leave after? Sony eight.

And the altar of burnt offering with its utensils and the basin and its stand, you shall con consecrate them, and they may be most holy. Whatever touches them will become holy.

Pause right there. That's worth underlining. Mhmm. Under normal circumstances, anything that has been consecrated, we'll talk about that word in a moment, anything that is consecrated that touches something ordinary, the thing that's consecrated then becomes ordinary. In this particular instance, anything that touches these things that have been anointed with this special blend, it becomes holy.

Yeah. That that that's as far as we'll go there, but that's a a good spot to go. Alright. Ready to keep going, Savannah. You

shall anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them that they may serve me as priests. And you shall say to the people of Israel, this shall be my holy anointing oil throughout your generations. It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person, and you shall make no other like it in composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you. Whoever compounds any like it or whoever puts any on an outsider shall be cut off from his people.

You. He's saying this is special. Mhmm. Like, when you go over to your grandmother's house and she'd pull out the special towels. Right?

Like, you go to wash your hands and you get in trouble. You can't use those towels. Those are for guests only. Thank you, Liz. You're welcome.

We have those towels at our house too. You can't go in the hot tub with the special guys because then they smell like hot tub.

Makes sense. Yes. Yeah.

Excuse me. Amanda will always have your bag. Okay. So you have that spun up in your mind. Now we're going to go to a different place, and we're going to read an entire chapter.

Isaiah chapter 32. And the reason why we're going to read all of Isaiah 32 is so that we don't just take a few verses out of context. But whenever possible, I always like to take when it comes to, like like, how much to bite off and chew for us, I like to take a generous amount of the minimum requirement. Does that make sense? Just so that we don't, like, read one verse and then launch off of there without having without at least talking about the context because that's how you can, like, get off into the ditch, you know, pretty quick by just, like, pulling out little verses.

And so I like to I like for all of us to have equal opportunity to get the the big scope of what's going on. Okay? So Isaiah 32. We're gonna read all of Isaiah 32. And to give you a little bit of background of what's happening in Isaiah, Isaiah was a prophet for the nation of Israel, and he spoke on behalf of God to warn the people of God to return back to him that they were under close threat of coming under the chastisement of the Lord, getting a spanking, and that spanking would come in the form of losing their nation and getting a time out, so to speak, in captivity.

Now in Isaiah's time, the chastisement was postponed because just enough of the people of Israel listened that devastation and catastrophe did not befall them. But But a hundred years later in Jeremiah's day, it was a completely different story. But here's if you're not familiar with the book of Isaiah, here's here's the main thing that you need to know. He was a prophet of God. He spoke on behalf of the Lord to the nation of Israel and exhorted them, extolled them, cajoled them, warned them, provoked them, returned to the Lord, returned to the Lord.

So that's that's what you need to know, and that'll give you some frame of reference for what we're going to read in Isaiah 32, whoever would like to launch into that verse number.

Behold, the kingdom reign in righteousness and injustice. Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of

a great rock in a weary land.

Then the eyes of those who see will not be close, and the ears of those who hear will give attention. The heart of the hasty will understand and know, and the tongue of the stammers will hasten to speak distinctly. The full will no more be called noble, nor the scoundrel said to be honorable. For the fool speaks folly, and his heart is busy with iniquity to practice ungodliness.

Quick pause. In verse five, it says, in that day, ungodly fools will not be heroes. Scoundrels will not be respected. Oh, man. How about the the future coming day of the fulfillment of that verse where where we as whoever the Lord is speaking to, nation of Israel, Christians, all of us, will be able to call people for what they really are.

Because aren't many of our heroes in popular society and culture today at the core of it just be fools? And don't we have culturally don't scoundrels have a lot of followers? It's not always gonna be that way. Praise the lord. Okay.

Let's keep going. Somebody pick up in verse six. Or do you wanna keep going? You got some more in you? Alright.

Go two more verses.

Let's see let's see if you can do it. For

this fool speaks falling, and his heart is busy with iniquity. To practice ungodliness, to utter error concerning the lord, to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied, and to deprive the thirsty of drink. And for this county, his devices are evil. He plans wicked schemes to ruin the poor with lying words even when the plea, of the need is right.

You finished at verse eight? Okay. Somebody can pick up at verse nine. No. I don't.

At verse eight. Oh, sorry. In verse eight. Sorry. The translation is a little different.

But a noble person plants noble things. He stands up for noble causes. Stand up, you complacent woman. Listen to me. Pay attention to what I say, you overconfident daughters.

In a little more than a year, your overconfident wants will shudder, for the great will fail and the harvest will not come. Shudder, you complacent wants. Tremble, you overconfident wants. Strip yourselves bare and put sackcloth around your waist. Beat your breast in mourning for the delightful fields and the fruitful vines.

For the ground of my people growing thorns and beards in the deep. For every joyous house in the dueling city. For the palace will be deserted, the busy city abandoned, and the hill and watchtower will become barren places forever. Forever.

Quick pause. To give you an idea of what's happening, the the we have a turn in the the narrative in verse 10 in a short time in just a a little more than a year, you you careless ones will suddenly begin to care. And then he goes on to say, here's what's gonna happen. That's that's where we're at. Thank you, Lanisha.

Sorry to keep interrupting, but I feel like it's important so that we know what's going on.

The hill and the watchtower will become barren places forever. The joy of wild donkeys and a pastor's whose lost, And to the spirit from on high is poured out waters. Then the desert will become an orchard, and the orchard will seem like a forest. Then justice will inhabit the wilderness, and righteousness will dwell in the

Awesome. Okay. In terms of biblical literature, what genre is the book of Isaiah? You can just wait a minute. Prophecy.

Yes. You're exactly right. Prophecy. So knowing that we're reading the book of Isaiah, and we put our prophecy glasses on so that we have a better chance of understanding what Isaiah is talking about. K?

So I'm not gonna put on poetic. I'm not gonna put on necessarily allegorical. I'm not gonna put on necessarily, although I keep them close by historical narrative because there is a lot that Isaiah says that is recounting facts of the day and things like that. But the primary pair of glasses that I'm going to wear when reading the book of Isaiah is what? Prophecy.

Yes. Okay. So there. Now I've got my prophecy glasses on. That helps frame what I'm going to read.

So

when we're when we have our I'm not gonna say prophetic because I'll just say prophecy. When we have our prophecy glasses on, as we read, what should we be looking for? I'm I'm kind of stretching this question to see if you're following me. I understand this question is not a a a lot of softball. What should we be looking for or keeping in mind as we read any books of prophecy?

The

coming. Fulfillment. There you go.

Yes. Coming in fulfillment. So I think that is a really keyword fulfillment. And so what are what are our options in terms of fulfillment as we read books of prophecy?

Has it happened yet?

Has it happened yet?

Or is it going to happen?

Is it going to happen? When? And is it possible that it's unfolding Constant. Right now. So when we read when we read Isaiah and where we we know that we know who Isaiah is, we know who he was writing to, we know what his role was, all of these things are helping us to if you if you read chapter 32 and you're like, I have no clue what Isaiah is talking about.

When you know these things, it can begin to help chip away at this this this massive mountain of what am I reading? Because here's the tendency, most people without understanding will be like, well I gotta read Isaiah today. They read that and they don't know where to put it or what to do with it, and therefore it has very little relevance to their life. But when you know who the author is, what his job was, who he was writing to, the rough time period of when he was writing, the genre of what he's writing, and then not only the genre of what he's writing, but what that genre means. And and Jay hit the nail on the head when he said fulfillment.

And then we can then we can be looking for clues. Has this been fulfilled? Is it being fulfilled? Or is there a future fulfillment? And sometimes sometimes admittedly, it's all three.

But if we were to take all of that knowledge that we know and apply it to verse 32, what does verse chapter 32 have to tell you for us today in terms of fulfillment? What are your thoughts? And I love how you're all looking at your text. You're scanning it, looking for keywords. You're looking for key phrases.

And the idea to be looking what you should be looking with and looking for is this idea of fulfillment. So put that filter on fulfillment.

I think just in first verse. It says

Oh, alright. So you're on to a clue?

Behold the king will reign in righteousness.

Okay. Verse one. Look. A righteous king is coming. An honest prince will rule under him.

Who is that? I'm I'm literally thinking that with you because I read that, and I was like, yep. Yep. Yep. Got it.

Wait. Who who is that? Okay. It's princess. Princess.

And honest princes. Yeah. The grammar and spelling is important. I was I was reading prints, and it's right here in front of me. It could be you.

Yep. Oh, in terms of this? Yeah. Alright. Well, say a little more.

So

who is the righteous king? Jesus. Now in Isaiah's day, are there other kings that come after Isaiah? I I mean, Isaiah is not a king, but in in the time that Isaiah is doing his thing, are there other kings of Israel? Yes.

Yeah. There are. Are they good or bad or both? Both. Yeah.

They're both. They're kind of like like some are better than others, and you really need to know your bible history to know what king was present, what was leading Israel at the time who came after him, things like that. But we know that there are other kings after the king that was in Isaiah's day. Some were good, some were not so good, but most were not that great. But then Isaiah says, look.

A righteous king is coming. When you read that, a hyperlink should go off in your mind about this is about Jesus. And honest princes. Does somebody have a different word in their translation besides princes? Rulers.

Rulers. Okay. So when you read that word princes, rulers, or even in Proverbs, king. In Proverbs, there the the word king is used a lot. It is very safe and reasonable for you to substitute those words with leaders.

Leaders. You read Proverbs, you're like, I got I get nothing out of this because I'm not a king. Substitute the word king for leader and read it again and see what happens because all of you are leaders. From the tallest to the shortest, from the oldest to the youngest, from the prettiest to the funniest. All of you are leaders.

And if you are in a position where you are not leading any like, I'm not in charge of anybody. There's always some there's always one person that you can be leading, and who would that be? Yourself. Exactly. And you can boss yourself around.

You can be a leader to yourself. Okay. I'm gonna go off on the weeds on that. An honest princes what was the other word in the translation? Rulers.

Rulers will rule under him. What could that mean? Janet suggested that after Jesus ascended and he established his church, that those who are leading the little c church to be a part of the big c, capital c, lowercase c, big c, little c, little c church leaders helping to be a part of the big c church. That's what you are suggesting, Janet. Mhmm.

And I think I think that will preach. I think that will preach. How about any other thoughts or ideas on this?

I kind of thought of I can't

remember the scripture. But the one

that talks about how we are God's royal priesthood. Mhmm. So I don't see myself as a ruler, but it could be those that are under Jesus, are rulers.

Because in verse two, what it talks about, that sounds like what

Christians should be. Wow. I like it.

So the last time you Yeah. The last daughter of the king.

The last time you spoke out, I was like, let's talk about that. Here you are speaking out again, and let's talk about that. And I think Liz already might have, like, micro addressed it, but I wanna address it for the benefit of everybody. You said, although I don't see myself as Royal. Royal.

Like a ruler. Okay. Yeah. But when it comes to royalty, how would you view yourself in through if you were to examine your life and who you are through God's eyes? Yeah.

Daughter of the baby. There you go. You are the daughter of the king. That makes you royalty. All of the other beings in the cosmos recognize you as the daughter of the king, which places a target on your back and also comes with certain privileges and rights that are unique to all and authority that are only given as daughters or sons of the king.

Okay. Let's go back to that word fulfillment as we look at Isaiah 32, and then we're gonna begin to to stitch these two passages together. So I said, in terms of fulfillment, what clues might you see in the text? You started us out on verse one. What as you look through chapter 32, what other clues might you get in terms of fulfillment?

I saw a parallel between 15 with the spirit is poured upon us from high, and then the wilderness becomes fruit field, and the fruit field is deemed a forest. And it's saying whatever touches them will come holy. It's like the spirit will be poured out on us and will become holy.

Okay. So you are seeing yours you you kind of answered two things in one. You answered the fulfillment, which I wanna circle back to, and then you stitched it together from Exodus. Pretty good. Let's let's talk about fulfillment in verse 15.

It has been fulfilled, is being fulfilled, or or there's a future fulfillment. What do you think? Everybody look at verse 15.

I would say it has been fulfilled.

Has been fulfilled. Mhmm.

I would say both fish.

Let's go with Brian first and tell us. I invite you to defend your answer. Well Right. You got it.

I feel like the only way that we are able to be holy as he is holy is because of the spirit. The holy spirit, which is our advocate. So maybe the work might still be being performed, but I don't think he's withheld his spirit from us in this time.

Anybody wanna add to that? Until last, the spirit is poured out on us from heaven. In the gospel of John, there, Jesus makes some word. He he makes a statement, and I'm really I'm really pulling deep. He makes a statement, but then there's a parenthetical statement by the author of clarification.

And the statement is, but the holy spirit had not been given out yet. But that happened when? Jesus died. Yes. When Jesus died.

And then after he rose, he breathed on them and said, receive the holy spirit until at last the spirit is poured out on us from heaven. What New Testament book and chapter should that bring to your mind? That's right. Acts chapter two. So, yes, you are right, Brian.

This verse 15 has a if in Isaiah's day when he was writing it, it was written towards the future. We look on these verses and is it in the future for us or in the past? It was in a it's in the past for us, but I heard somebody else say that there's a future fulfillment. Alright. Go for that.

Yes. That's mentioned about in revelation and also in I believe the scriptures are

Yeah. Yeah. No. It's okay.

It's alright. Fragments are accepted. There is also a future fulfillment of verse 15 that we have yet to experience in its literal fullness. Because if we continue to read on, the wilderness will become a fertile field. The fertile field will yield bountiful crops.

Justice will rule in the wilderness. That is a picture picture of the future coming millennial reign of Jesus. When he appears riding on the clouds, coming from heaven with a myriad of angels riding on a white horse for war, We, as the saints, when if we are alive at the time, will be transfigured in the twinkling of an eye. We will be caught up to meet him in the air. We are so excited for the return of Jesus that we just literally like jump out of our skin.

And like the like the like the the fiance that is waiting for her soldier to come walking down the jet way coming back from deployment and when she sees him she's standing with her family, with his family, friends, and she just breaks free from all of them and goes running into his arms. That's what I picture the rapture looking like. I can't wait here any longer. Here he comes, up we go. There is a future fulfillment of these verses.

So we have Isaiah 32 and now we're gonna stitch it together with what we read in Exodus. And you got us off to a great start. Let's stitch it together. What's the commonality? What's the common thread?

What's the the the common theme? Consecration. Consecration. I like that. Let's add to it.

What else do you see? What else do you have?

So with the anointing oil, whatever touches it becomes holy. Yeah. It's consecrated, and it and maybe this connection is what when the spirit is what consecrates us

and annoys us and makes us holy. Yeah. Oh. I love that. At at the top of verse 15, you can write the address of Exodus.

So it'll be a little manual hyperlink for you. That's fantastic. Oh, what else do you see? We could we could pull a lot of stuff out of here. I know.

But but this you're you're on you're hitting the bull's eye of the theme of what I want us to stitch together, and then I wanna share my dream with you. Yeah. We're one of those churches.

Can I can I say something else? Yeah. Come

on. Okay. Only because right after that, it says, anoint Aaron and his sons and consprect and so they will serve me as priests. I almost feel like that might be a representation of our us being princes who are ruling in justice and serving them as priests.

Yes. Just like Jamie. Right? Yeah. Just like Jamie said.

Yeah. Jamie, you made that connection and didn't even know it. How about that? That

is that is really good.

Can I read the scripture he's also referring to in Revelation?

Oh, okay, please. Well, he's just like, I call that one. So

it's Revelation five ten. Well, actually, let me do five nine and

ten. Alright.

It says, and he sang a new Psalm saying, you are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals because you were slain. And with your blood, you purchased for God, persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests, and some versions say kings and priests to serve our god, and they will reign on the earth. So it's the same. Beautiful.

Rulers,

kings, ruling. Beautiful, beautiful connections. I can tell you're cooking you're cooking up a thought back there in the VIP section. If you're ready to share it now, you can, or it can continue to percolate.

I was just thinking

I knew it. Yeah. Would you come stand at the edge of the VIP section? Because know it's crazy.

Proud of them. I can't fix the experience.

I know. Thank you, Brad.

Really nothing that special. But just talking about, like, the honest princes and how we're, like, leaders and stuff. And we kinda touched on this before, but just, like, we are all leaders not because of anything that we have done and like kind of the inheritance that we're talking about but because of the authority that has already been given to us and what we talked about a few weeks ago about just like you receive that authority by receiving the gift that has really been given to

you. And

so we are all in this position of being a leader serving under our righteous king who has come and who has given our spirit out for us. And then in two, it says, each one, talking about the leaders, will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert, and a shadow of a great rock in a parched land. So it's kinda like we are, like, a safe space for other people or just like a breath of fresh air, and And it's kind of like our responsibility and our duty to be this picture of what Jesus is and how he lived his life.

I love it. We talked about privileges of royalty, but equally there are also, as you just said, kind of indirectly, there are responsibilities of royalty. Really good, g. Really good, g. So here's a dream that I had.

I frequently have dreams and sometimes they're like pizza dreams, you know, something you ate, you know, the night before. Sometimes I have rehearsal dreams where something that I'm chewing on or trying to figure out or solve, I'll go over and over and over it in my sleep. And then sometimes I have a good idea. Sometimes I wake up like tired. You know, every everybody has those kind of dreams.

Right? Where you're trying to, like, fix a problem or or wrestle through something. Sometimes I have god dreams. And when I wake up and I recall the dream because many times I don't necessarily remember my dreams. But if I think there was something interesting, I'll just say, lord, was that of you?

And then I'll just it'll have a a little hint of the fragrance of heaven on it. And then I start to unpack it from there. If I wake up from a dream and I have the guitar playing in my dream, I have the guitar playing skills of Prince, but the legs of an ostrich and I'm, you know, the the Prince of Poland. I'm like, okay. Maybe that was a pizza dream.

Right? But this dream that I had last night, I was I found myself standing on top of not a pile, not a mountain as big as the Tetons, but like a hill. Like, I don't know, figuratively speaking, like like, I don't know, tall as high school Butte. You know? It was bigger than a pile, not as big as a mountain.

So it was a big, a large hill. And the hill was made up of twisted rebar and broken concrete and a a chaos there where I remember vividly seeing tank treads that were, you know, broken and and mixed in there, twisted steel and broken glass and calamity and chaos, and I stood as I stood on top of this. I didn't see any people, but I knew that there were people in that in that Hill. And then in my dream, I don't remember if the Lord gave it to me or if I had it, but I remember pouring out a a substance from a flask that was thick and had the consistency of honey out of this flask. And as I looked around at all of the the the the chaos and brokenness and and dysfunction and calamity.

I don't remember feeling necessarily any emotionally, like broken or outraged or anything. I was just like, well, let's just fix it. And then I had a flask in my hand and I knew that this flask was special, it was of the Lord. And so I began to pour this stuff out and it and it came on really slow and it was like kind of like Winnie the Pooh cartoon honey. You know, it was like, you know, like, it was like, way out thick because they were like, literally out, poured out.

And it poured out over the hill and got down into all of the nooks and crannies and crevices. And as more of this anointing oil began to pour out, the mountain dissolved and I felt myself like going lower. And the only thing that was left were the people that were caught up in the the twisted chaos and destruction. And they were drinking in the the thick substance and being revived. And that was my dream.

So Alyssa will come up here and the pan will now when it comes to interpretation, if it's a god dream, he's sharing that with you for a reason. Okay? And there are times when I have God dreams where I'm not quite sure about the interpretation and it's okay to consult people that you trust. You should first consult the the holy spirit and ask him, like, what was that about? Right.

Mhmm. But as he's unfolding it for you, it's okay to consult with others that you trust. And don't just consult one other person that you trust. Because they'll say one thing and be like, oh, well, the the viscosity of the oil represents none. And the tank treads and the twisted represents none.

And you're like, interesting. Just wait and consider. Then talk to somebody else, and they're like, oh, what stands out to me is the people and how it all dissolves. And then and and they'll they'll have a different just just consider it. Ultimately, you should trust the interpretation of the holy spirit for you.

And part of this dream, I'm still to to be honest with you, I'm still unfolding and unraveling. But the part that when I woke up, there was a a tactile portion to the dream that the lord gave me an assignment for that we're gonna do here in just a moment as we pretty soon. In a few moments, we'll we'll transition to the next part of the service. But when I woke up, I said, lord, was that a goddream? And then he just showed me a picture of me here doing something that we're about to do.

I brought some oil with me. Now this is not this is this is not the recipe in Exodus that that we read about. But symbolically, it will it will accomplish what we're looking to accomplish. And in my in my mind's eye, I saw a picture of me coming around and and anointing the hands of anybody that would receive this from the Lord. And then during our discussion, this is this is a cool moment for me.

Then during our discussion, out of the text and your observations comes this idea of leadership and influences and being royalty, having certain rights and privileges, but also, as Greta said, responsibilities. And so I think what the Lord could be stitching together for us, and this is this is really cool, is that as we receive and step into our identity as royalty, it comes with rights and privileges, but also the responsibility to bring peace and order, healing and wholeness to areas of chaos that we may find ourselves in the midst of. Whether that's through a situation at work or maybe there is a situation unfolding within your family or among your friend group, maybe as an intercessor to the nations. I mean, if you I don't know if you've been checking the news, but the country of Georgia, which sits near the country of Turkey, is is essentially on on fire right now with with hundreds of thousands of people protesting around the country because the citizens of Georgia want to join the European Union becoming more western in their values and in in democracy. The country of Russia likes to keep them as a buffer country from the European Union and from NATO, and there's a lot of Russian interference in their government preventing their country of Georgia from becoming more democratic.

The country of Syria has been invaded by these Islamic jihadist rebels that have already taken the second largest city in Syria and on their way south towards Damascus. All this has happened in the last thirty hours. So perhaps perhaps the anointing is for intercession for the nations. But here's what here's what I saw in my mind's eye is we're going to go into a time of a ministry time and we'll just close our eyes and and receive from the lord and I don't want to make it mandatory but optional. And in this ministry time, I will come around and I'll have some of this on my thumb and I just wanna touch your the fingers of your left hand and then touch the fingers of your right hand with this to anoint you and to affirm your identity as royalty and the authority that you have to influence your world and the world around you.

And if for, and I also saw this in my mind's eye, if for whatever reason you're not down for that, well, just don't hold your hands up. You can just keep them like that, so it's optional. And then I thought about for people that are along here, I can get to everybody else. But if you're sitting behind this table, it's hard to go like this. So maybe just go like this.

And then I can get you. Alright? And Brent, I'm so glad that you're here and a part of this service. Slide in, slide in right here. Take your jacket off and be a part of the most important part of the service today.

So, I am Lord, I'm doing this symbolic gesture out of obedience to what I feel like you put in my heart, and I ask that you would be in the in the intimacy of of of me touching the hands and fingers of those that would receive from you this morning. And that we would encounter you in a really beautiful and precious way. In Jesus'

Well, Brian's doing that. I just see this picture of each one of us asking the lord, lord, where do you want to apply that oil? Like, what, where do you specifically wanna apply that oil specifically in my life and I just saw I know this is weird, but I just saw a picture of, like, we have all kinds of oil at our house. We have, like, oil we weatherproof our gloves with. We have oil that I special oil I make popcorn with.

We have olive oil. We have sesame oil. We have all kinds of different purposes for oils. I just maybe just as Brian finishes going around the room, just ask the lord, lord, where specifically in my life do you want to apply your special the oil of your spirit to my life? Like, what cracks and crevices does this oil need to run down into my life?

Maybe areas that I haven't allowed you to move or maybe areas I'm already operating in but need the just another dose of your oil anointing in my life. Just ask him.

During this time, I just had a picture of I can't remember which movie it is. It's one of the chronicles of Narnia, and the kings are all sitting around table, and they've had, like, vines

and stuff grow all over them.

And so they're, like, mostly asleep and covered with these vines. And so they still have, like, their, you know, king garments on and things like that. And it isn't until the kids come that there's something that they do that that allows those vines and stuff to break off and the kings to come back awake and take back their their kingdoms and go back into the into the position that they have been called to. And I just felt like similar to Brian's dream, like this untangling with the anointing comes as untangling. Like, identity as priests, as leaders, as rulers is is there.

You're wearing your garments. But then as Brian anointed us, like, it untangles those vines maybe are like the hardships and the difficulties and the brokenness and the destruction that's in your life that has slowed you down and covered you up and stopped you being able to operate in that identity and that this anointing is this time to untangle. That's the word I kept hearing was untangle. Untangle those those different things that are holding you back and slowing you down. Untangle you from that so that you can wake up again and operate in that leadership identity that he has called you to.

And I really felt like he was saying, like, untangle the hurt and the the pain and the things that have happened in your life from your identity. That does not change who you are, who you're called to be, who he's created you to be. Oh, but it has slowed you down. And so now is the time to untangle that so that you can operate in the fullness of that because your identity hasn't changed because of the hurt and the things that are going on in your life. Your identity remains the same.

And so now is the time to allow God to untangle that from you so that you can operate in that. That's good. Do do in your hand. Oh, okay. Lord god, we just come before you and we just I just pray for an untangling right now.

In Jesus name, that it would that whatever hardships and trauma and hurt and pain that we've allowed to slow us down, to cover us up, to keep us from operating in in our identity, that that would be untangled now in the name of Jesus. That it would be broken off of us and that each person in here would be able to go forth in freedom. Go forth in the identity that you have called them to. And Lord if we don't know what our identity is. I just pray that you would whisper that on our hearts.

Right now. That whatever we hear Lord that we would know that's what you've called us to. That's what you call us. And that we can go forth in that freedom now. And operate in that and not allow those things to hold us back anymore.

In Jesus name. Amen.

We close the service today, we're just going

to do one more active worship together while we're in a corporate setting and that is bringing our tithe and our offering to the lord. So, this is just a way every week where we say, lord, we love you. We trust you. We thank you for all that we have. It's all yours anyway and we get the honor and the privilege to partner with you and what you're doing in the work of the ministry.

We get to be god's hands at his feet and so we're just going to pray together. We don't we will pass buckets or anything today. If you have a cashier check, practically speaking, you can drop it downstairs. There's a little black box right outside the front door. You can put it there.

You can always give online. Tribejh.com or as you can see on the screen, the very easiest way is with your smartphone. The timing phone number like it's new friend is 84321. And you just give anytime there. So that's the practical way.

But let's just pray together and be in agreement. Father, we just love you. We trust you so much. Thank you for everybody who's here today. Thank you for your precious Holy Spirit and his voice that speaks to us corporately and individually, Lord.

We just thank you that we get to worship you not only with song and reading your word and discussing what's in the Bible but we get to bring our tithe and our offering, hard earned money to you because it's all yours anyway. We pray that if we have a skewed vision of what tithing to the church looks like that you just heal that in us. People have done it wrong and so sometimes we get a little bit skewed. Father, just correct that in us. I pray.

Father, this is for you. The money that we bring that we earn is yours anyway and we want to be good stewards. We want to lay this before you and say, Lord, have your way. This is an act of worship that says, I trust you and father, we do. We trust you.

You're so faithful all the time in every area of our life and so we just bring it together as we're a tribe family. We bring this money to you. We say it's yours. Lord, let it do exactly what you want it to do to reach people for the kingdom. Thank you so much in advance for what's to come out of our obedience both corporately as a tribe family and in our individual lives.

We love you in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Just two quick announcements and we will get you guys out of here. Number one, you guys know we do this once a month.

Tribe partners on the Town Square with our Jewish friends, our Jewish brothers and sisters just to say, we love you, we support you, we see in the, we serve a Jewish messiah, first of all, but we see in the Bible that it's important to love our Jewish brothers and sisters. So they stand at Town Square once a month and we to release the there's still, as we know, 101 hostages that are being held, and so we pray for them. Who got to come and see the hostage? It's been a few months now but there was a gal who was released from Hamas and she's one of the striking things she said and I don't know if she's a believer or not but one of the striking things she said, when they could dream in their absolute horror, and this was people she met in herself, they would see hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people in their dreams, like, loving on them and praying for them and just being a light. Is that more or less kind of what she's saying?

Shaking her. And shaking their hands and and that alone gave her so much hope. And she's like somebody's praying for us. So you you don't have to go to Town Square to pray for the Jews. Please do it all the time.

And it's just an outward expression. To be like, we love you. We standing with you for hostages to be released and to just love on our brothers and sisters there. So that's at 05:00 today on Town Square just right across from Moody's Tees where the 399 Memorial is. Yeah.

There. More people. Let's let's come out for the host. We love three ninety nine, right? She served her for the And then the second thing is that we will be right here in our TMC again next week.

Two services nine and eleven. Again, next week, same thing as today. The following will be back to Virginia. Come here again next week, nine and eleven.

Brian, we pray so. Yeah. Let's

stand up. I I kinda like this spot right here. Worship night for young adults tonight at 6PM. So, can go to the gathering on the town square and then head over to the B Wave here and if you're interested as a young adult to go to the worship night at Bee's house, come talk to her. She'll give you the address.

Would it be alright? If I prayed over you, I got to touch your little fingers. Now I get to pray over your soul. Lord Jesus, thank you so much for this gathering of believers here today. As the world de evolves, God, we ask that you would unwrap our royal identity that we have been anointed and called to bring your truth, light, love, healing, and hope to a world around us.

I command a blessing over each and every person gathered here today. We pray these things in Jesus name, the strong son of god and everybody said, amen. Amen. I love you so very much. Have a great week.

Remember, you've got this. And let it snow.
