What does Tribe teach about biological sex?
Drawn from the message where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At Tribe, the teaching on biological sex starts with Genesis. Pastor Brian read from Genesis chapter one, where God creates human beings male and female, and said that passage establishes two biological sexes as God's deliberate design, not a cultural arrangement or a matter of opinion. Because God is the one who created what we are defining, he said, any honest definition has to begin with God rather than with popular consensus.
Pastor Brian used the Old Testament image of ancient boundary stones, the markers that defined each family's allotted land in Israel, to describe what he sees happening culturally. Those boundary markers, he said, were not set by any county survey or shifting culture but by God, and moving them carries real consequences. He read Romans 1:18-32 and said Paul described a pattern that is recognizable today: when a society suppresses the truth about God and turns to worship what is created rather than the Creator, God gives that society over to increasingly confused and darkened thinking. Brian pointed to that passage as the reason a culture can arrive at a place where, as he put it, "we dare not even speculate at the common sense definition of what a woman is."
He was careful to say he was not making a political statement or targeting any individual or group. His concern was the ideology itself, and what he sees as its cost to the women and mothers Scripture calls the church to honor and protect. The message was preached on Mother's Day, and he said that as a biological man, a husband, and a father, something rises up in him when he sees those boundary stones moved, not out of a belief that women are helpless, but out of a conviction that what God designed is worth defending.

“Falling in love with creation here in this valley is like reading an amazing book and then asking where you can get a bottle of the ink that book was written with.”
