What does Tribe teach about building grit?

The teaching defines grit not as a personality trait some people are born with, but as something built through repeated confrontation with hard things. Brian says, "Grit has less to do with talent and ability and more to do with relentless determination," and presses further: "You weren't born with grit. Just as you gained strength by repeatedly lifting heavy objects, you gained grit by repeatedly confronting and overcoming challenges." Sukkot, in this reading, is God's annual training ground for exactly that kind of perseverance.
