What does Tribe teach about passover?

At Tribe, the teaching on Passover starts with the conviction that these feasts belong to God before they belong to any tradition. Brian Hunter has returned to Exodus 12 year after year, and each time the starting point is the same: God himself calls these observances his feasts, not Israel's feasts, and anyone in his family is invited into his family traditions. The seven feasts are not relics of an older religion but living rehearsals, memorials, and recalibrations. Brian teaches that Tribe marks them for three reasons: to rehearse so that when prophetic events unfold in real time the congregation has a frame of reference, to recalibrate the way musicians tune to a single reference pitch, and to remember what God has already done.
The heart of the Passover teaching is the blood on the doorframe, and Brian has pressed into that image from multiple angles. The lamb was selected with extraordinary care, lived in the home, and became personal before it became a sacrifice. The blood was painted on the doorframe with hyssop and, Brian argues from the Hebrew, covered all four sides including the threshold below. What God was building in that night was not only a picture of protection but a picture of presence. The blood did not simply shield the people inside from judgment; it opened something, a portal that allowed God to draw near. That is why the same image runs forward to John the Baptist pointing at Jesus and saying, behold the Lamb of God, and backward to Isaiah 53, written centuries before the cross, describing someone who bore the sins of others.
Brian is equally direct about what this means for a person sitting in the room right now. The Passover account in Exodus 12 is nearly silent about the moral condition of the families sheltering behind the blood-stained door. Deliverance that night turned entirely on what was applied to the outside, not on the worthiness of the people inside. That same logic, Brian teaches, runs through to the cross. He says, "That night, deliverance depended on the blood applied, not the people inside." And for anyone who wonders whether their own history disqualifies them, the answer the teaching keeps returning to is no. The blood is enough.
