At Tribe, the teaching on being filled is rooted in the biblical feast of Shavuot and what happened on Pentecost in Acts 2. Brian walked the congregation through Leviticus 23 and showed how the feast ordinance, with its seven lambs and two loaves, was always pointing toward the moment the Holy Spirit was poured out. The feasts, he explained, are not relics of another people's religion but God's own calendar, given so that his people could remember, recalibrate, and rehearse. Being filled with the Spirit is not incidental to that design; it is the destination the whole spring feast cycle was building toward.
Brian was direct about the condition of the heart that makes room for that filling. He says, "God is not a foolish investor. If your heart is full, he will withhold answering that prayer." Being filled requires that kind of prior work, a heart that has been emptied of what competes with God's presence.
The recalibration thread ran through the whole message as well. Drawing on Psalm 119, Brian connected the idea of turning our eyes from worthless things to the posture that keeps a person open and ready. The feasts, he said, give believers a lens made of God's past faithfulness through which to read present circumstances.
