What does Tribe teach about bondage freedom?

At Tribe, the teaching on bondage and freedom is rooted in the picture Jesus gives of old wineskins and new ones. Drawing from Matthew 9, Luke 5, and John 3, Brian used the story of Nicodemus to show what it looks like when a person is standing in front of something genuinely new and cannot receive it because the container they are carrying is too rigid. The old wineskin, whether it is religion, law, or a fixed idea of how God is allowed to move, simply cannot hold what Jesus is offering. The new wine is a new covenant, a new way of having right relationship with God, and it requires a person's capacity to actually stretch and receive it.
Brian put a working definition on the screen: the wineskin represents a person's capacity to receive and adapt to a new work of the Holy Spirit in their life. Brittle wineskins crack under that pressure. The teaching walked through several places where that brittleness shows up, including whether the Holy Spirit is allowed to move in power today, and whether there is room for the full picture of Jesus. Brian says, "A new wineskin will cost you." That cost is real, but the alternative is staying locked in a framework that cannot hold what God is actually doing.
The freedom on the other side of that cost is not meant to be hoarded. Someone in the room made the point that a wineskin is not built to hold the wine permanently; it is built to pour out. The love that makes any of this possible does not depend on a person's record. As Brian put it, "He loves me not because of who I am or what I've done. He loves me because of who he is." That is the ground the new wineskin stands on.
